Chapter 23: His Desired Culprit

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a knock on my door. I opened the door with my remote. It was one of the maids, who's name I couldn't care less about.

"Mr. Robles..."

"Why didn't you call? Where's Wanda?"

"I...I did call but didn't get any response. That's why I came right here. Wanda..."

"What do you want?"

"Detective..."

"Let him in," I said, cutting her sentence at a word. Instantly, I got a notification on my computer. 'ALERT! There is an attempt to breach into the Robles Corp system.'

"Mr. An..."

"Someone's trying...." he interrupted the detective's greeting and was interrupted by another notification. His face slowly turned red, causing the detective to unconsciously gulp loudly in fear. The atmosphere was suddenly intense and the aura around Antonio was almost physically black and fiery. He immediately turned the screen of his computer to Jones.

"It's been hacked!" the man gasped as though out of air. "How's that possible? Do you have any suspect?"

Antonio took a deep breath and shut his eyes for a second. Donovan was almost too such the rage he emitted would reduce with that. He was wrong. His eyes opened only to show an awoken beast. "This must be the work of a man dumb enough to be in love with that bratty cat and dumb enough to think he can stand toe to toe with me."

"Who's your s-suspect?"

"Jayden Jeremiah Knight of the Cavaleiro Corporation," he responded and picked up his phone.

"The heir of the Cavaleiro Corporation?! He's in a relationship with Miss Cabrera? But he's said to be one of the top hottest and richest bachelors in the continent....a list you're still leading on according to ranking released four days ago since your supposed affair has not been confirmed. Would you like me to investigate the matter?"

"What for?" Antonio asked with a sus brow-lift. Donovan seemed somewhat confused. 'Has he really not considered any possibility that it could be an attack from anyone else like Rachel? After all, what business has Miss Cabrera got to do with his companies? Or does he have a feud with Jayden Knight that would be so intense for him to take such a deadly step which could literally ruin the Cavaliero family's legacy? I highly doubt Jayden would be that dumb. There's no way that's possible. Or is Mr Antonio just hoping he's at fault? Is he angry at him because of Miss Cabrera that it has completely clouded his judgement? Has the young lady really affected him that much? That would be interesting,' Jones thought.

"Speak now or forever hold your piece," Antonio said, snapping Jones who was clearly lost in his thoughts.

"Sorry boss. I was just thinking that why don't you look further into the situation in case someone else, like Rachel, is behind it. If she is, the Cavaleiro Corporation would be ruined for n-nothing." A wave of panic hit him at the end of his statement when he finally registered how the air around him suddenly felt colder with the death stare Antonio was giving him. 'I'm screwed. He clearly wants me dead now. I'm surprised he's not a mafia boss. He's much worse in fact,' he thought with another heavy gulp but suddenly, his fear turned to confusion. Antonio looked away from Jones, almost looking like a kid who didn't get what he wanted. 'For a detective and a father with a notorious 5 year old boy, Antonio definitely hoped it would be the Cavaleiros and didn't consider any other obvious possibilities. That wouldn't make sense since they are not even competing with him... unless this just about Miss Cabrera,' he thought with a tiny smirk.

"I need that information by 5am tomorrow. A minute later and you'll...."

"You'll have it a minute earlier boss. Here's the report and all other details of my investigation on Miss Liliana Andrea Cabrera."

Wanda was attending to Lauren who was seated on the sofa while she stood on a before her.

"And why the heck do you have a smirk on your face?" Lauren asked furiously when she looked at Wanda as she packed the stuff.

"I'm not smirking," Wanda responded, trying so hard to contain her excitement.

"You think I'm dumb?! Or blind?!" Lauren blazed, holding Wanda's wrist aggressively when she was about leaving.

"Let go off my hand Lauren..."

"Or what? Huh?! You think I can't see?"

"Lauren, let go..."

"You think I can't tell you're routing for that peasant bitch?! Answer me, maid!"

"Says the girl born with a silver spoon," Wanda said purposely audible enough for Lauren to hear.

"What the heck did you just..."

"Oh sorry sorry, let me repeat myself louder. I said, says the girl born with a silver spoon. It means you were born rich, right? Oh wait, that's wrong. You weren't. And yes, I was smirking... because I can. So don't start projecting your insecurities on me girl. I'm not your employee. You're an employee just like me, don't forget. Now, for the last time, get your hand of me," Wanda said calmly and just when Lauren opened her mouth to speak, she swiftly and vigorously pulled her hand out of hers, almost causing Lauren to fall forward. "Have a lovely night Miss. I know I am" she walking away with a professional smile.

'Beeeeeep!' Lauren's phone vibrated. 'ALERT! There is an attempt to breach the Robles Corp system.'

"What?!" Lauren whisper-yelled in confusion. Suddenly, a thought crossed her mind, "Rachel! That witch!" She immediately made a call.

"Miss, we..."

"I know, track the hacker as soon as possible. If I know, then Mr Antonio does too and this must be solved immediately! Where are you?"

"On my way to the office. I'm almost there. My team is already there and they're working on it."

"Good. I'm on my way."
