Han Suyin

"Suyin! wake up!" There is a voice shouting. If he is not wrong, it was his mother's voice!

He groaned and slowly opened his eyes, only to shut them again. The sun was now set, and the weather seemed so hot. If it was only for his internship, he would never go up and get ready.

"Brother! I'll go first. I'm already late." His sister shouted from the living room.

The cold water brings him back to consciousness. He sighed so hard that it could almost be heard from outside. He can't believe he's continuing to space out on such an important day. It was maybe because of the movie he watched yesterday that he was not able to go to sleep earlier than before.

Han Suyin slapped his face softly to keep his focus.

"Are you sick?" his mother asked after he sat down. She placed his plate in front of him. Before he can answer, its palm is now already on his forehead.

"Nope." He still answered her even if she already knew. He started eating.

"What company is that again?" 

"Hmm? MERC lab?"

"Yes.. yes... I hope you leave a good impression with them so you will be able to work for their company in the future. You know Li Jiangou? He was my classmate in middle school. I heard it was so hard to get into their company! it's now your opportunity, Suyin."

He nodded.

Ever since he heard about MERC Lab from his friends, he became interested in it. It is one of the current top pharmaceutical companies in the country. If he was not mistaken, it is one of the rivals of UniPharmacist, the most successful company when it comes to the pharmaceutical field. And it was his dream to get a job there. Luckily, he got accepted as an intern at that company. Out of students that tries to apply, he's only the person who are able to get in.

Han Suyin got up immediately after eating. He drank his water before getting his stuff to his room.

"You'll go now?"

His mother waited for him in the living room.

"I'm late," he said shortly and went past her.

He tied his shoelaces. He was nervous because he did not pay much attention at the time. He was already five minutes late! Not to mention that MERC Lab is strict when it comes to its time policy. Well, he only heard it from Gu Linxing a few days ago that his cousin has been receiving a notice for being late in three executive days because of fever. Even though Gu Linxing's cousin was not feeling well, he still went to work. But then, even though he is still an intern, he doesn't want to leave a bad impression on the company.

"Good luck!" Han Suyin's mother shouted from their door.

He ran so fast as much he can. It was already 7:46 when he got into the company's lobby. The good thing was that he was immediately assisted by an assistant. It is a man wearing formal attire. It's hair is in a clean cut. He looked formal and clean with his glasses on.

"Intern?"

At first, Han Suyin was confused. It was only seconds before he realized.

"Uh... yes, sir."

"Chen," he said, "-call me, Mr. Chen." He looked at his watch. "I'm the president's assistant. I guess you're already more than thirty minutes late. Let's go. The President has kept on asking you."

Han Suyin followed Mr. Chen. On their way to the office of the president, Mr. Chen kept reminding him of the important things.

"Honestly, the president is strict. But don't worry, he's a busy person. You will not be able to meet each other. In case you are afraid," He laughed.

Han Suyin just smiled. Well, it's an acceptable reason that the company's president is strict since they would not be able to reach this level if he was not serious about his job and responsibilities. 

"By the way..."

Mr. Chen broke the silence.

"You will be assigned to the manufacturing team. Later, I'll guide you there." He said that before he stopped in front of a door.

Office of the President

It was written there. Han Suyin trembled because of fear. What if he makes a mistake? not to mention that it is the president. The CEO of the MERC lab!

"Sir.?" 

Mr. Chen pressed the intercom. There was a voice coming from there. Han Suyin got shocked, as it was his first time seeing it.

"Come in."

Mr. Chen opened the door. The atmosphere was so cold. The tidy yet elegant office welcomed Han Suyin. You can only see three different colors, which are black, gray, and cream white. It's spacious—bigger than their house!

Han Suyin was amazed. Before his gaze flew somewhere else, the president caught his attention. It's a man in his early 50's. Although it has a muscular and healthy body, its gray hair was still visible on both sides. It was sitting in a black swivel chair while facing the view. They were standing behind him while the latter is talking to someone on the phone.

"Just focus on the goal. I'll send Chen there later to see the situation. Provide parameters if needed. I see. Yes."

The call ended.

The president massaged his head before he noticed two figures inside. His eyes were diverted by Chen's companion.

"You're late," he said in a monotone voice. Obviously, he's talking to the intern.

He saw how the boy trembled in fear with just his few words.

Tsk...

Before the boy could utter a single word, he raised his hand, signaling him to stop.

"I'm not asking for an explanation." The president strictly said. It was the moment that Han Suyin got really scared in his entire life.

"Chen," the president called the latter. Han Suyin sighed.

"Bring him now to the team. After that, immediately go to the infirmary. I want you to check something there."

"Noted, sir."

Han Suyin sighed in relief. They were now heading to the manufacturing department office. However, it was only a matter of time when he saw how the employees were in trouble. Everyone was busy holding someone, stopping any further damage.

It was Gu Linxing's cousin!

Han Suyin was surprised to see the situation. He saw everything. He saw how the eyes were wary and how the body was shaking, as if he couldn't control his movement. He even saw how it got loose and bit someone near him.

The situation moved so fast that it went back to normal. Gu Linxing's cousin was already sent to the nearest hospital. The people were still unable to move on from what happened, so they continued to gossip.

"He's gone crazy!"

"Right? I was even more shocked when he started shouting and shaking. I was nervous! I thought something happened."

"That bastard. I got bitten. Tsk! Look how sharp its teeth are; it even leaves a mark."

"You better get it checked, bro. Or else you will end up like him."

They laughed.

"Shut up."
