I've been training my Hatsu and Ren for a year now; I can last for 60 minutes using ren and I can make the water incredibly spicy.
I might transmute my aura into something related to fire; after all, I have been sent to hell in a few lifetimes.
Gyro stood up and looked around the room, readying his things.
I'm leaving this place, and I don't have enough money anyway.
Taking a pocket knife he had bought beforehand, a flashlight and some rations, Gyro headed out.
After amassing a fair amount of knowledge about this place by talking to the workers in the construction camp.
Gyro discovered that he was on the Balsa Islands, a group of islands to the south of the Yorbian continent, the same one where the United States of Saherta is located on and also where Yorknew City is.
That was the place Gyro wanted to go, but he obviously couldn't get a tourist visa at his current age, so he had no choice but to be smuggled there; for that he needed money - about 300,000 Jenny, not too much, but a lot more than the pittance he had.
I need to make money quickly.
I could probably pull a trick from leorio's book and start arm-wrestling; with my Nen, no "average joe" could compete.
'Alright, we have it settled.'
He was currently close to a city called Doli City.
Doli City is about 70 kilometers away; if he took his time, he could walk there in a day or two.
12 hours later...
What the fuck?! Nobody told me I'd be attacked by a pack of wolves just because I went for a walk; fine, I'll just use my Ren.
With my Ren, I saw the wolves shiver in fear and scurry away.
I guess I scared them away with my hostile intent.
Gyro had killed many people throughout his various lives, and when that killing aura was instilled within his Ren, it caused even the most battle-hardened veterans to fear for their lives.
"Ha ha, I've got a terrifying weapon now."
Continuing his walk, Gyro started using Ren to strengthen his body and test how fast he could run.
I obviously can't measure my speed without some sort of precise measurement technology like a speedometer or something, but all I can say is I'm pretty damn fast.
A little while later, Gyro found himself in Doli City.
I should find a booth to arm-wrestle people at.
Gyro looked around and found a decent enough spot, setting up there.
Spotting a burly man walking past, Gyro prepares for his latest marketing campaign.
"Hello there! If you can beat me in an arm wrestle, I'll give you double what you bet."
The burly man looked at him as if he were joking.
"Kid, can't you see my size? You shouldn't joke around like that. Besides, how much money does a kid like you have anyway?" The burly man said.
"How much money I have doesn't matter since I'll win either way; or are you scared, big boy?" Gyro said.
He was goading him on so he would take the challenge
"Well, don't say I didn't warn you. I'll bet 1,000 Jenny on it" the burly man said.
"Are you that poor old man? Or are you just scared?" Gyro teased.
"Don't mess with your senior, kid. I could beat a snot-nosed brat like you blindfolded. Fine, I'll bet 20,000 Jenny. I'll win either way, so it won't matter."
"You got a deal, old man."
"You'll have to place the money on the table, I'll place my own 20,000 winner takes all." Gyro said
Gyro place 20,000 on the table; Jones follows suit and places his own 20,000 Jenny.
Setting up the match, Gyro squeezed the burly man's hand tightly.
A couple of people watched as we got ready.
"Go ahead, start!"
I acted like the match had been a struggle, but I knew I could have easily beaten him with my Nen.
Forcing his hand down and wiping my fake sweat.
"Ha ha! You're good, old man, but I'm better; I guess you aren't getting back your money." Gyro stated.
"How the hell did I lose to a brat like you?." Jones said irritated
Jones was clearly annoyed by the outcome but he couldn't do anything about it since there was already a crowd watching, and he couldn't look like he didn't keep his promises.
Capitalizing on the crowd that appeared to be watching the match.
"My offer still stands; anyone who beats me will have their bet doubled, but if you lose, I'll take all your money".
Multiple offers resonated on the streets.
As he entered the hotel, a young boy was seen counting money.
'1.1 million jenny is a decent amount, but when compared to what Gon and Killua made it didn't compare, after all they were in the best city in the world while he was in a shitty small city.'
Finding the burly man whom he had arm-wrestled with earlier in the day, who was apparently named Jones.
"I'll give you back your money if you can find me a smuggler to take me to the United States of Saherta" I told him.
"Why are you asking me?" Jones asked.
"Well, I don't know anybody else in this city; and you look like a man who works in crime." I answered.
"Well, you aren't wrong; I'll help you find a smuggler, as long as you pay me double what you won off me that is." Jones said still annoyed at his loss
Jones clearly wanted to feel like he had won, since he would have earned an extra 20,000 Jenny if the deal went through.
Gyro relented, not caring about the 20,000 Jenny; he wasn't so cheap that he would haggle for so little money.
i might move up Gyro’s birth date by a bit, in the original timeline he was born in 1957 so he would be 42 by the time the story starts. which i think might be a bit too old but who know. if you want to move up his birthday tell me so i can consider the possibility.
