Hot chase.

Roselle curses under her breath, knowing they need to shake the police if they want to get away. This time her heart began to race as she looked in the rearview mirror and saw the flashing blue and red lights of the police car behind her.

Tina and Nate were equally terrified as the smoke from the engine choked them. The car had been damaged, and the driver who had hit them was far gone.

Dazed and disoriented, Roselle struggled to open the door as she saw the police car pulling up behind them.

Good thing they were not hurt. They climbed out of the car immediately, looking for a way to blend into the street. But the street was scarce of people and only had cars which had stopped and parked in a distance as the people in them were watching what was going on.

Roselle felt frustrated loosing out, there was no other choice left, she had to grab Nate again in the middle of the pain he was feeling.

Tina now held the unconscious guard pinning a piece of the car's broken glass on his neck as a weapon to kill him if the police threatens them.

Nate continued his act, Roselle held him like she was going to shoot him any moment.

Nate was losing his mind. He had not had this kind of experience before. The pain in his head intensified every minute that passes by. And he felt he would become unconscious again.

Just as the police officers approached the car, ordering Roselle to drop her gun and Tina to drop her weapon and surrender to make their punishment lesser, a masked man in a land cruiser appeared out of nowhere. "Get in!" he yelled, motioning towards the back seat of his car.

Roselle spun her head. The land cruiser had a line of white painting on the driver's seat door and a mark drawn in form of stone was in the middle of that circled white painting.

Roselle's heart went limp. Now she was in bigger trouble, knowing the face behind the sudden masked savoir.

"Stay away from us or will kill him!" Roselle had to scream again being very careful not to accidentally release her fingers on the trigger.

"You can tell us what you want!" The head officer was slowly using his intelligence, trying to negotiate with the criminals in front of him.

"Shut the fuck up and get the fuck off our way!" The masked man shouted. With two targeted shoots, he gunned two policemen in their legs.

Roselle hissed, the policemen were not looking kind this time, seeing their men on the floor being shot in their legs.

"Shoot at me and you gonna kill him too!" Roselle cried and released another bullet in the air which sent the policemen to scuttle backwards. Two of their men were down already, and no one dared to move or lose their life.

The head officer continued to order his men not to shoot.

Without hesitation, Roselle and Tina climbed into the back seat of the land cruiser, pushing Nate and the guard inside again as the masked man hit the gear.

The policemen watched the two criminals drag Nate and the guard into the car. Right in front of them, the car sailed off into the busy traffic.

"Oh, that was so close." Roselle heaved feeling a bang on her head.

But Roselle isn't celebrating yet. She knows the police won't give up that easily. She looked out of the back window, scanning for any signs of pursuit. They were not close for now.

From the police end, the head officer yelled into his transmitter asking for backup immediately as the criminals sped off.

"Area commander transmitting, over" The voice answered from the other end.

"We've got a flat tire here. The criminal is heading towards FD street, in a black land cruiser, driver's sit door has a circled white paint, glass tinted, and no plate number. Take over immediately. Don't shoot, the victims are still in hostage. I repeat, don't shoot!" The head officer shouted into his transmitter.

The car was awkwardly silent, Nate and Tina were stunned, and the masked driver in front of them was giving off a dangerous aura but Roselle was not looking as surprised as Tina and Nate were and this made their minds not to be at ease.

Suddenly, they could hear the police sirens wailing behind them again.

"We've got company!" Nate shouts as he sees them. The flashing lights of the police cars were increasing fear in him. "Step on it!" He shouted at the masked driver again, he could barely sit, feeling uneasy.

The driver was skilled, weaving in and out of traffic, dodging cars and people at a breakneck speed.

Squash!!!

Other drivers clutched on their break at the sudden road abusers when the masked man made a swift turn at a T-junction speeding into the street on his left.

"The criminals are heading towards Mill Avenue!" The area commander who had taken over, radioed.

"Go, go, go!" Nate screamed at the driver almost jumping in his seat. His heart was pounding, shocked at the perfection of the masked driver. He tried so hard to catch the way he controlled the steering but couldn't.

Red traffic light children crossing, the traffic light suddenly alerted. Again, Nate sprung up on his chair, thinking that the driver in front of him will obey the traffic rule but he was wrong, the man was still speeding towards the children.

'Was he going to kill those children crossing?!' Nate was asking inwardly and he suddenly screamed. "No!!!"

Nate shot his eyes close and opened them again hoping to see bones and flesh of human beings scattered on the road and the children dead, but the children were standing by the roadside equally shocked like Nate and Tina.

His heartbeat went low but picked up immediately as he saw the police vehicles. The screeching of tires echoed through the city streets with the police hot on their tail, this time in front and behind them.

Nate felt his heart was about to jump out of his chest, he glanced at Tina, and Tina held a little panicked look on her face. He turned to look at Roselle but was shocked to see her as calm as the river in the morning like she was not afraid of the police vehicles right in front of them and behind them at a very close range.

Horns, crashes and screeches of tires filled the air as Nate screamed again, "No!!" He opened his eyes. 'Now it has come to an end.' He thought and looked up to see the policemen scrabbling around them. But to his greatest surprise again, their car was speeding gently on top of a bridge.

Nate looked behind him, the two police vehicles coming in front and behind had crashed into each other.

"Woohoo! We made it! We..."

Shut the fuck up!" The masked man's voice thundered in the car.

Nate melted at the order of the masked man. The masked man then ordered Roselle to get the guard out of the car. Quickly, she pushed the door open, dragging the guard out of the car, she left him by the roadside and slid back into the car.

The masked man continued to speed down the bridge, then suddenly swerved off the road and onto a dirt track that led into the woods.
