Her punishment.

"Now boss it's time to get him. I'm sure he won't be able to refuse your offer in this state he is." The man sitting beside his boss smiled mischievously.

Roselle's boss slammed his hands on the table in front of him and howled. "They were responsible for my mother's death, and they have to be the first people I ran to for help! They planned everything!"

Roselle raised her head in shock and flinched at how thunderous his voice was. She was waiting to hear more about him but he stop holding a sober look on his face. Roselle saw the depth of the pain in his eyes and wondered, what more he had gone through.

Just like she had faced a lot of obstacles in her life, she had also wanted to know about her boss's life, and what made him who he was.

The scar on his face had always been hidden behind that mask. But she had once seen this scare, only once and that was the first day she received the punishment she would never forget for seeing it. Since then she had dared not to provoke his anger.

But one thing she was surprised by was the fact that after this punishment, he had told her a little about the scar on his face and how he got it. He had told her this like she was the closest friend he had ever met in his entire life and when you look at it, she truly was the only friend in his life.

Her mind drift to what her boss had told her. It was just because of that one mission he failed to complete. This mission was the only mission he wasn't able to complete because it involved the life of a child. He never agreed to harm children no matter what, knowing how painful it felt to be hurt at that age.'

That day, his boss called him into his conference room which had a group of men. About 50 of them or more.'

"Boss, here's the coffee you ordered. Do you need anything else?" Roderick's head went low, as low as it almost touched the ground.

The boss's cold eyes glared at his chef. His fingers tapped dangerously on the table. He adjusted in his seat and said. "I'm giving you two seconds to taste this coffee, chef."

"B—boss," Roderick stuttered, trying so hard not to tremble. How on this good earth was he going to taste the coffee made for his boss? He felt his boss's eyes pierce into his, he was looking at him like the devil who needed blood to wet his hands.

Roderick shuddered, he was totally out of this world when he asked, "How I'm I suppose to do that?" Only when this question had slipped off his mouth did he realize his stupidity in questioning his boss.

He should have obeyed, just obeyed than to be humiliated and punished by his boss in front of the conference room where his boss was having a meeting with over 50 men, all in black suits with blazing looks that can make one's heart pound in fear.

Ice Stone drew his head backwards and glared more dangerously at Roderick for almost what seemed like an eternity. Even though his eyes were black, they look like fire ready to consume even the strongest demon on Earth.

Slowly his lips began to part in laughter. It was pretentiously friendly at first until it began to fetch all the cruelty it could.

Roderick went on his knees to beg his heart out, he cursed himself for disobeying his boss's first order. He stood to taste the coffee and froze when the table banged, spilling the coffee on his boss's table.

"Good lord!" Roderick shivered. He looked up and saw his boss on his feet. There was no pardoning left for him, he was going to get another taste of brutality.

Ice Stone took the jug almost filled with hot coffee and poured it into the cup. He stepped down from his throne as he called it and just a wave of his hand brought Roderick to kneel in front of him overwhelmed with dismay.

"Raise your face and look me in the eyes!" Ice Stone growled at Roderick.

Roderick was stunned with enormous shock. No one has ever dared to look at Ice Stone on his face not to talk of looking at him straight in his eyes, because that will be the end of that person having a face or his neck being smacked off.

He had disobeyed his boss's first order, he dared not disobey this second order. He brought his face up to look at his boss's face.

Ice Stone began to laugh maliciously at his chef again and slowly he began to pour the hot coffee on Roderick's face.

Roselle snapped out of thought. When she was busy thinking about the story he had told her, he too was also thinking of something else in his mind.

'Tsk tsk tsk Karla! The day you'll find out that the people who killed my mother were the same people who killed your father and left your mother paralyzed, I don't know what you will do Karla.

Thinking of how cruel you have turned out to be, I don't know how you'll take it that one of their own is close to you. I'm sure you're gonna resent me for keeping it from you but everyone has their reasons for doing whatever they do.

For me too, I'm not a saint towards you. Ah! Karla, you will hate me for what I did too.' Roselle's boss Roderick thought in his mind then turned to face Roselle again like a saint.

"Karla, look at me straight in the eyes." Her boss's voice was calm and stiff at the same time.

Roselle brought raised her head, she shouldn't shudder any more. She tried so much to compose herself. Slowly she raised her face to look at him.

"Karla! Do you think that you're the only person who has Rashuel as an enemy? I too want to bring him down! He is also the reason why I lost my mother! Now he's back and it's time to pay him back you messed everything up by exposing this face to the world. Now the police are after you. Tell me how you're going to hunt him?! Tell me?!"

Things became clear to Roselle now. She had always thought of herself as a brave woman but now she's the most foolish woman on earth.

"Now Karla, for messing things up, I must punish you!"

Roselle went to her knees immediately, shuddering and pleading. The taste of her first punishment from him was enough to have in a lifetime. "Boss, l beg of you, I will fix this. I promise! Please let me set things right, you know I would."

"No Karla, I must punish you and this will be an awakening call to you!"

"Boss, please listen to me!" She was pleading yet she sounded more like she ordered the one she feared.

"Joseph!" Roderick called.

A man emerged from a corner and bowed in front of Roderick.

Roderick glared at Roselle "I will make your punishment lesser this time. However, you will be locked up in ice and heat for one week!"

Roselle's eyes widened. She wanted to speak but couldn't. She didn't want this now her enemy was back. But all she had to do was to obey, see herself being dragged by a man and allowed herself to be locked up.
