Chapter 296 : Last Round

Seems like days were passing like a breath after a good run. He had lost track of time in his research and work, but before he knew it, a month had passed, and finally, the last round of the Tournament was upon him and the others. He honestly felt like he was getting old upon seeing how his entire life was passing in a room, doing nothing but hitting his head against the wall to find a damn way to bring that godforsaken man back.

"Good Morning, Orion…"

"Yeah, happy fucking morning," Orion grumbled as he irritatingly looked at the person who talked to him, a vein popping in his head from not getting any damn result in his research anymore.

He honestly just wanted to stop and give up by now, but he couldn't. Not only did he need Merlin, but the world kind of needed him. He was strong, very strong now, but even now, he didn't have much confidence in handling that death face to face.

After all, he had gotten stronger, but she had been strong like this for eons. He needed Merlin before that Rebirth of Magic took place, and he was fighting tooth and nail to bring him back, but no progress whatsoever. This was now getting on his nerves.

The boy who greeted him felt like crying, 'What did I do?' Poor boy.

As soon as he reached the place where the last round of the tournament was about to take place, he couldn't help but close his ears. The loud music of instruments playing assaulted his ears, making him even more mad.

He turned his eyes towards the magically playing and floating instruments, and his eyes glowed for a second before they turned back to their normal state. The next moment, those instruments fell to the ground, not even a hint of magic was present in them anymore, bringing others' attention to them and making everyone confused about what was going on.

'Much better,' Orion nodded to himself as he made his way towards the starting line, where the race to get to the cup was about to happen. And if he wasn't wrong, then that was when Voldy would make his first appearance.

'Let's take care of that baldly. I also need a way to let loose and release some frustration. Wouldn't mind that at all. Though I better stop Rose from entering that place. I alone will go there,' Orion thought.

He saw all the participants ready for the race inside the big maze created out of plants.

He looked at Rose, who was also looking at him with a smile on her face, though he could tell that the girl was angry with him for being completely busy with his work and not giving her enough time—she and Daphne both.

Giving an apologetic smile as he knew what awaited him after this, he couldn't help but sigh to himself.

Soon, the race started, and that was also when Orion realized that those points they were getting weren't just for show. Those points would determine who would get to enter the maze first.

Orion got the second-best score, which was news to him honestly. With how well he thought he had done, he believed they should have just given him that damn cup and ended this farce.

'Well, whatever…' Orion just rolled his eyes as he saw Morgan getting inside that maze herself. Even to this day, he felt that he had seen that girl somewhere. Many times, he even thought that she was the same one he met in America, but he was sure that they looked different.

He couldn't say anything for certain, honestly.

Next, it was him who entered the maze, and he had to say that it sure was peaceful as soon as that wall made out of plants closed up. It immediately isolated the sound, and he let out a breath, feeling the calm.

'This might be strange, but I honestly prefer this over that much noise. Maybe I should take a stroll before going to the cup.' Orion pondered, feeling the little eerie sensation in the place, but it was nothing.

Literally treating the trial as a 'Walk in the Park.'

With the help of the Law of Presence, he was easily able to find his way around the maze. It wasn't like those stupid walls could stop him if he wanted to go through them anyway.

But he didn't want to burn them. To others, they might be dangerous and eerie as they did move around and cause much trouble to others, but to him, they were quite good. After all, they were protecting him from those nuisances and noise.

"Maybe I indeed have started thinking like that old man, sigh."

After some time, he finally had his fill and planned to get back to finding the cup. Closing his eyes, he sensed the magic around him. First and foremost, he had to figure out where the other participants were and then look for the…

Suddenly, he stopped what he was thinking because he sensed something strange.

No, not exactly strange but more in line with something he was not anticipating. Because Rose was very close to the cup right now, it hadn't even been 10 minutes since he entered the place, and Rose was supposed to go in after him with a delay of 3 minutes. So, under just less than 7 minutes, her getting that close to the cup was unnatural.

'Seems like I have to pick up the pace. Maybe that boldie was making things easier for Rose to get to the cup,' Orion pondered and started picking up speed. He didn't even need to fly or teleport; he could simply bypass those walls by temporarily creating a small hole in them, going directly to Rose.

By the time he arrived, he saw Rose was very close to the cup, and to his irritation, she was almost about to touch it.

'Tch,' Orion muttered with clear irritation. He didn't want her to go meet Voldy if possible. But it was too late. Seeing that he was mostly not going to make it by normal means, he teleported to stop the her. But to his utter frustration, she touched the cup nonetheless, and to not let her go there alone, he also had to teleport with her.

'Just my life.'
