Chapter 100 - Final Exams 02.

[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

The week of final exams continued as Snape spent his days taking them; the years that had to focus the most were the fifth and seventh years.

In the fifth year, there were the O.W.L. exams (Ordinary Wizarding Levels), which are essential for determining which subjects they can study in the following years and which magical careers will be open to them. For example, someone who wants to become an Auror will need high marks in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Potions, and Charms.

For the Seventh Year, there were the N.E.W.T. exams (Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests), which are the final exams of Hogwarts and determine what opportunities will be available to them in the magical world. They are even more challenging than the O.W.L.s and require a great deal of effort and preparation.

N.E.W.T. scores are crucial for careers that require a high level of specialization, such as Aurors, Healers at St. Mungo's, or jobs at the Ministry of Magic.

Not that Snape was very interested in his magical career in this world, after all, his mind was still elsewhere, beyond the stars, but even so, until he truly understood how he could leave this world, he would stay a few years and finish school before starting to do his real work to leave this world. Until then, he would dance to the music.

It was Thursday, the fourth day of exams, and Snape was once again in Magical Runes class. He had declared to his Head of House, Professor Slughorn, that he would specialize in this subject as well for his O.W.L.s.

"Mr. Snape." The voice of Professor Judith Mikael called him as soon as she saw him finish rewriting his activities.

"Yes?" He looked at her.

"You've finished, and I know you'll ask to leave, so here is the book you requested. It was kept in my collection. Although we have little information about the Uagadou School of Magic, which is home to the world's most prominent runic users, I'm happy you're so interested in that place... It has always been my dream to go there..." Professor Judith smiled.

She was a middle-aged woman who had studied Magical Runes for over 20 years since she graduated from Hogwarts, specializing in the field. Everyone who studied runic magic had heard of the great magical school in Africa, and Miss Judith herself had made several trips to the continent, but she had never managed to enter the school. Even with her good knowledge and published books, the African wizards were very protective of their magic.

Even Headmaster Dumbledore could not accomplish that. But Snape planned to go there. Perhaps not now, as he had other plans for the moment. During these holidays, she was going to Romania after doing some things in England. Maybe in the middle of the year or during next year's holidays.

"Thank you, professor." Snape nodded, pleased with the book — one that he hadn't even managed to find in the library, not even in the restricted section.

"You are dismissed. Good luck! I'm glad you also want to specialize in this area. It's always good to see people passionate about ancient runes," she said at the end, and Snape nodded.

After he left the room, he headed to the next exam, which was Defense Against the Dark Arts, and today would be the dueling test for the fifth years since he would not participate in the seventh-year one.

It didn't take long to find Pandora waiting for him in the hallway, smiling as she quickly walked alongside him.

"Today will be our last dueling exam..." She commented excitedly.

"Yes..." Snape only said.

"Are you nervous?" she asked.

He just snorted. "Not at all. But you are," he noted.

"Yes, a little. I'm a bit worried about who I'll have to face," she murmured.

"You might end up against me if we're lucky, but I guarantee you'll handle anyone else in the class easily... You're quite capable," he said. After more than half a year training with Snape in the Room of Requirement, Pandora was quite skilled, although she rarely showed it.

As they walked, they passed some Aurors standing and talking, who had once again flooded the castle, investigating what happened in the Forbidden Forest. Once again, the magical world was shocked by mysterious events happening here and there, but with no evidence of who did it, generating only unanswered questions.

They walked calmly past the Aurors, while one of them gave the students a narrow look.

"Something wrong, Gideon?" his colleague asked, finding his behavior strange.

"This is the boy I told you about, the one I'm personally investigating. He's very suspicious, walks around with that air of authority all the time, and really, no student can mess with him in this school. I don't know why the Headmaster hasn't done anything, since he's even irritated some of the big families, but still, he's unharmed. However, something tells me he could even be the masked one who massacred Hogsmeade and the massacre in the Forbidden Forest..." Gideon Hawke murmured. He was the Auror who followed Snape into the Forbidden Forest and had always looked at him with suspicion, but this was the moment it reached its peak, convinced that Snape was the villain they were looking for.

"You've got to be kidding me. He's a kid, man. Don't be annoying and think that a boy killed over 600 giant spiders and 50 adult wizards..." His colleague didn't believe his words.

"No, I'm sure. And I will prove it," Gideon said, looking towards where they were heading. "They're having dueling lessons now, so why don't we see how skilled our Hogwarts students are?" he said.

"What do you mean by that, Gideon?" His colleague found it increasingly suspicious.

"You don't get it... Let's show a little of our skills as Aurors and protectors of the magical world of England. I'm sure those students will love to see it..." He spoke with an arrogant tone.

His colleague, however, shook his head but ended up following Gideon as they both headed to the dueling class.

All the fifth-year students from every house were gathered again in their groups as Severus entered with Pandora, heading to their corner, which was quickly filled by Clarissa and Lucinda joining them, while Lily just watched from a distance. James, seeing this interaction, was filled with rage but could do nothing about it.

It was then that the professors at the front, seeing that everyone had finally arrived, with a few more students arriving after Snape, decided to start.

"Well, students, yesterday we had our written and spellcasting exam, but today we are going to put into practice everything you've learned this year. Remember, you've done all this for this moment, so I hope you will specialize in this subject as well," Professor Longbottom said beside Flitwick, while the latter stepped forward.

He drew his wand and moved it with a spell as he created the platform where they would fight. "Remember that the best students of this year will go to next year's tournament, so please make us proud," he said enthusiastically.

"Well, let's begin then," Professor Longbottom said, pointing at a Hufflepuff student. "You will challenge..." She began pointing to another Ravenclaw student. She organized the challengers so that the pairs were more balanced, as she knew who was compatible with whom to maximize their demonstrations, and quickly they began to enter the stage.

Both students entered the stage, and as soon as the professor gave the signal, they began dueling, casting spells at each other quickly and skillfully for a fifth-year student, with attack and defense spells followed by counterattacks.

Gideon and his colleague entered the room at that moment, and the professors noticed but said nothing, merely observing them as spectators.

As soon as one of them won, the professor called someone else before summoning their pair. The duels continued, while more and more students displayed their magical skills, and the professors at the front discussed and gave their grades for each magical demonstration. Both the grades for Defense Against the Dark Arts class and the possible candidates for traveling to duels, as the seventh-year students would soon leave school, Flitwick's best bet was on the sixth and fifth-year students.

Thus, all the students chatted while the chosen ones were called, until Professor Longbottom chose a specific student. "Severus Snape."

Everyone quickly turned their attention to him. After all, Snape was the most skilled duelist in the fifth year, and even in the seventh, since no one had managed to beat him. Snape had the reputation of becoming the greatest duelist at Hogwarts among the students.

Without saying much, he went to the dueling platform.

"Pandora!" Longbottom's voice called the challenger who would face Snape, which surprised everyone.

"Her?" everyone questioned. After all, Pandora had never shown herself to be very skilled.

"Are we finally going to see her in action?" Flitwick said with a satisfied look, while the students murmured, wondering what this match would be like. Pandora had never stood out, but the teachers knew she had been holding back the entire time. She always chose her friends to fight, usually losing on purpose, which was a bit strange, but they didn't force her. However, they knew one thing: she was being trained by Snape, and they liked seeing how much she had improved over time with Snape's help, having come to this conclusion due to them always being together. Snape was more open with Pandora than with anyone else, as if he was already used to her presence.

Pandora stepped onto the stage with a small smile, while everyone watched, expecting her to be easily defeated.

"Loosen up, Pandora," Snape said calmly from the other side. "This time, no matter what you do, I'll be fine. So give it everything you've got." He asked, as it was time to show everyone that the girl was much more than she appeared to be.

"Alright then!" she said, and as soon as the professor gave the signal for them to start, she quickly cast a spell in such a swift motion that everyone was left gaping.

"Incendio!" she exclaimed, launching a fire spell.

Snape placed his wand in front, and Pandora's spell hit the tip of his wand, allowing him to take control of the spell immediately, as if he had stolen it. He positioned himself, placing one hand behind his back, until he had full control of the spell and simply redirected it back at Pandora using some skills he had learned.

"Incredible!" Flitwick looked stunned by it.

"Let's see how she will react. This is not an easy attack to deal with," Professor Longbottom said, watching closely.

Pandora quickly made a movement, and the wood of the platform began to loosen below the carpet. Fragments of wood appeared in front of her, coming together like a natural shield, as she then used Transfiguration to turn the wood into an iron barrier—a great skill she had learned in Transfiguration.

The explosion occurred, leaving everyone shocked. This attack wasn't something that could be easily stopped with a simple shield, so when Pandora used external means to protect herself, the wall was once again shattered into several pieces, but she was unharmed and didn't stop there.

She made a motion with her hand, casting a spell while the pieces began to distort, transforming into daggers. Once again, everyone was surprised by what Pandora had done.

"Professor McGregor was astonished by that," the professor commented with a satisfied smile.

Pandora looked with a serious and almost apologetic expression at Snape as she lifted the daggers toward him before they rushed directly at him. He kept an eyebrow raised at the deadly attack but then smiled, quickly striking the ground forcefully, easily cracking it with his strength.

With a piece of wood that had broken off from the carpet, he grabbed one and transfigured it into a sword, positioning it in front of himself as he moved at high speed, defending against the daggers that quickly advanced toward him.

The sword did not let any dagger pass while Snape remained still behind it, letting the sword do all the work. Snape managed to coordinate all the deflected daggers to fall in an area without students, ensuring no one was hit by the weapons. Even Longbottom kept watching to prevent any injuries to spectators.

Snape looked at the girl with some difficulty breathing and smiled, for suddenly, chains appeared beneath Snape's legs, binding him, while Pandora smiled, thinking she had immobilized him.

Snape merely snorted before quickly murmuring something, and the chains binding him began to transform into snakes, which slithered away from his legs and looked at Pandora challengingly.

Pandora stepped back, looking somewhat fearful at the snakes. Without warning, they began darting towards her. Snape did not stay idle either, not allowing the girl to have an easy time dealing only with the snakes. He cast another stunning spell, but Pandora grabbed one of the snakes to intercept the spell, causing it to be hit and fly away. She didn't stop, as she simply pointed at the remaining snake and halted it mid-air with a levitation spell, before throwing it back at Snape with a tossing motion, and she burned the other approaching snake with a precise shot.

"Very good..." Snape smiled before casting a destructive spell, destroying that snake.

Everyone watched the duel in silence. They were all stunned by the fight, as they had not expected this level of skill from the students.

"Well, you're right. That boy is beyond normal," the Auror said to his colleague, who was still suspicious of Snape.

Even Gideon was stunned and nodded, speechless at what he was witnessing. "This doesn't look like a duel between fifth-year students..."
