MY SISTER QUILL whipped her dark brown hair into a high ponytail and smiled at herself in the mirror. Her bright blue eyes shined as she fixed a few flyaway hairs and then adjusted her lab coat. "I think this might be a good opportunity for you, Ocean."

Our parents weren't ones for normal naming conventions.

"I know." From the couch I watched the woman who looked so much like me, but whose life had gone in a much better direction.

Quill stepped away from the mirror and rummaged in her purse. "You just need to dedicate yourself to the cause."

I closed my eyes so they wouldn't roll and readjusted myself on her fluffy couch. "I know."

"And no more vacations in Mexico."

"I know," I said with the perfect amount of annoyed little sister irritation. Quill was four years older than me but sometimes she acted like my mother. "Are you going to keep holding my one mistake over my head for the rest of my life?"
