Farmers City & Custom Orders

On a bus traveling to the train station Richard sat in a special compartment for people with wheelchairs or special hover chairs.

There was quite a few people giving Richard either disgusted or curious stares, this was because Richard was in a wheelchair instead of a hover chair. As nobody would be in a electric wheelchair if they could afford a hover chair, not to mention a wheelchair.

Most people haven't even seen one before as they are incredibly outdated. Richard didn't have any reaction to any of the gazes as though he wasn't what they were looking at.

Soon the Bus stoped at the train station, Richard slowly pushed him self off the Bus and into the Station after paying with his Bus card.

He made his way into the train station to go over to the next city over for some important tasks/errands.

Richard booked his ticket beforehand so he left straight for the right launch platform to board the hover train.

The whole station was clean and tidy with little robots cleaners cleaning the floors, the walls are white with all sorts of holograms advertising different products all around the place.

As Richard made his way to the platform, there was more and more people especially when he entered the main hall.

Because Richard is in a manual operated wheelchair it takes quite a bit out of him to get around, so he arrived at the platform with only minutes to spare.

There next to the boarding ramps was a massive white hover train, it is sitting 2 meters above the ground without moving.

The train has 3 levels on each carriage with windows on each, the control carriage is large with a pointed front for the least air resistance.

Richard started to make his way to one of the ramps which lead to the carriage with his seat. Luckily for him the ramp was flat so he didn't have to tire himself out.

The train was clean and neat with no room wasted but oddly spacious with walking areas that allowed for 3 people to walk next to each other without touching.

Soon Richard found his seat and with incredible difficulty got out of his wheelchair and sat in it.

The seat wasn't hard but soft however this brought discomfort to him because although it was soft and comfy it didn't help Richard's sick frame but made his situation worse.

If not for the importance of this trip he would have preferred not to go on the hover train especially when you take into account the speed it moves at.

Seated right next to one of the windows Richard had a clear view of the scenery as the train left.

Very quickly it changed from the city of buildings to housing areas, after leaving the housing area a large amount of farmland appeared till the train finally arrived at the next city after about an hour of travel.

This city is famous for its being surrounded by massive amounts of farmland and has been given the name Farmers City since it's construction.

Exiting the station you would find that this city is unlike any in the whole district. There are a large amount of people shopping around the streets and buying things.

This is quite rare in modern times, as most buy there food on the internet and get it delivered straight to their homes.

But don't think this is a poor city, as it is in fact very rich from their food production.

After leaving the station I slowly made my way to my destination, along the way I looked into all the nearby shops windows and holo ads.

The atmosphere is bright a joyful with people talking to each other, this reminds me of....

"Stop! Stop! Stop!" I jolt out of my thoughts as I hear the mechanical voice of a construction bot warning me of a hole.

"Sigh... Thanks" Sighing I give a quick thanks and look at the bot in front of me. The bot has tracks for wheels and has a round human like top of it's body, the head is a ball with a screen to show different expressions and to convey messages.

It is orange and yellow with white stripes to help warn people of construction. Currently the screen showing a warning sign.

People might think that they are smart and advanced however you would be incorrect as they do not actually possess intelligence but instead have preprogrammed actions for different situations.

When I come out of my thoughts I find that I have already arrived at my first destination, a secluded out of the way street.

My destination is the small shop in front of me, it looked worn out and old like it was made nearly 90 years ago and hadn't been renovated since.

I looked up to the Holo sign showing a hammer hitting a anvil with sparks flying upon contact.

It took me some time to find the place, as this profession was already dying out a thousand years ago. Blacksmithing has almost completely died out as machines in factories do all modern metal work.

Smiling I made my way into the store, as the door opened a little chime rang in the store. I looked around the store to find all sorts of handcrafted items up on display.

"What is it I can help you... with??" While I was looking around an old man with a long white beard walked in from the back.

He was wearing special safety equipment and a face, beard and clothes covered in black soot. He had a surprised face to see his first customer in quite some time was in a wheelchair.

I gave him a smile before speaking.

"Hello, I am just wondering if you do custom orders here?" As I spoke my hoarse voice awoke the old man from his surprise.

"Umm yes, I do. What is it that you would like to make? I'll see if I have any in my store." He smiled while stroking his beard.

I smiled at his convenience before going over to the counter, I opened my bag and pulled out a stack of paper on the counter.

The old man came over and pick up one piece of paper and took a look. As soon as he saw the contents on it, he looked over to me with surprise before quickly checking the next.

With each piece of paper more and more shock appeared on his face, he looked into my eyes before speaking.

"These.. these are... do you you want these to be made?" he once again looked at all the blueprints and designs on the table with shock.

"Yes I wish for all this to be made. Price is not a problem but I will have to have the by the end of the week or sooner." I just simply smiled at him.

After all I understand why he is so shocked as these blueprints and designs are for things that haven't been seen or made in years.

"Do you want these for decorations or something else? And what should I make them out of?" he asked

"Well, the materials are written on the and they should be fully functional and ready for use." I pointed on a blueprint were it listed all the required metals and materials for each thing.

"Ok well I can get it done in hmmm, about 6 days. I'll even throw in a discount, after all I've always wanted to make this stuff, so your down payment will... be.. 5,000 credits. So come back in 6 days." The old man smiled while almost completely concentrated on the stack of paper in front of him.

"Wonderful I'll see you then" I paid for the down payment before leaving for my last task here in Farmers City.

After Richard left the store the old man looked up from the blueprints and designs with a deep look in his eyes and smiled.

Stroking his beard he spoke.

"Hmmm, how interesting... that mortal carries that little Dragon's blessing, hmmm. It's too bad it's not able to be truly activate in this world..." He Froze before a deep profound light appeared in his eyes.

"Oh, so that's the reason, after all that little perfectionist would never do anything half-assed, oh you sneaky little snake. Fine I won't interfere after it's technically not against the rules..." He smiled and laughed

"Ha, Ha too bad I didn't think about this, then again he's most likely the only one. The young will surpass the old! Ha, maybe I should.... well that can wait first I'll go and see that little dragon... After all this will be quite entertaining" The old man smiled before disappearing from the spot with a flash of fire...

Meanwhile Richard was in a large farming store placing a order for large amount of seeds.

Seeds consisted of multiple different types of plants from crops, trees, bushes, flowers, vines and others.

The employee was shocked about the amount of seeds Richard was ordering and couldn't help but think to himself.

'Is this guy building his own farm? but it makes no sense after all it's not enough of each type of seed to do that? Then why is he buying so much?'

Richard paid for it to be delivered to his apartment the next day.

Having completed all his errands here in Farmers City, for the moment, Richard left for the hover train station once more ready to go back and rest.

On the hover train back Richard's arms struggled to move as his body became weaker and exhausted from all the distance he had travelled but he persisted until he finally got into his apartment were he with difficulty got into his hard bed.

I looked at my sweaty, pale, broken body with eyes full of emotions. Even slightly moving anything makes severe pain shoot throughout my whole body, like thousands of red hot needles being stabbed through all my nerves all the way down into the bones and my bone marrow, both cold and scorching pain at once.

But that is the normal pain I experience with to much physical excursion the real pain comes each night when I fall asleep.

The pain is from my blood and cells fighting for energy and nutrition but never being able to get any as there is none.

I slowly closed my eyes with a small smile while whispering with my hoarse voice.

"Almost just a little longer... only... 3 weeks..." And with the only hope I still have I fell asleep...
