Chapter-21 : The Goonies

<The Goonies>is basically a story of a band of kids named Goonies, who in order to save their home searched the attic only to stumble across a treasure map.

Following this map they went on a adventure of treasure hunting, but faced many obstacles and booby traps but courageously went forward and finally reached the destination and found ont of the famous pirate Willi's pirate ship named inferno with lots of treasure.

But their joy was short lived as a criminal family named Fratelli caught up to them who was also attracted by the treasure followed their trail in hot pursuit.

As they were robbing the treasure, they accidentally hit the final booby trap which resulted a cave in, so everyone hurried up and got out.

The two groups emerge on Astoria's beach, where they reunite with the Goonies' families and the police. The Fratellis are arrested. As the kids describe their adventure to their parents, the Walshes' housekeeper, Rosalita discovers that Mikey's marble bag is filled with gems he took from the ship and had not been seized by the Fratellis. Mikey's father triumphantly rips up the foreclosure papers, declaring they have enough money to negate the foreclosure. As the Goonies celebrate, they see the Inferno, having broken free of the grotto, sailing off on its own in the distance.

After the discussion between Warner Bros and Steven's Amblin Pictures, the budget of the film was fixed at 25 million, and Richards for his acting got 5 million upfront with a 5% box office share.

Not only making Ric highest paid actor in the film but also one of the youngest actor to enter 5 million dollar club which can compared with 15 million dollar clubs of late 90s.

The film started shooting on first week of February. During the shooting of this film, on the third week of February Oscar announced nominations.

<The sixth sense> won 5 nominations which are Best original screenplay, Best supporting actor, Best actor, Best director, Best film.

Ric won 2 nomination making him the youngest person in the Oscar history to receive two nomination at the same time for two times.

This brought him once again in media for praising him for his acting and screen writing skills which gave another boost to <Home alone> which was still running in the theater.

But surprising thing was that at the golden globe Ric didn't got any nomination for <the sixth sense> although it bagged home best actor and best director award in thriller section.

So, on march 25 Oscar was held and the shooting of <The goonies>stopped giving the actors a week break.

The Oscar went in his own pace, various performance midst the awards, anchors witty jocks and when the award for best supporting actor came, Ric once again missed it.

As the show approaching the end, the original screenplay was announced and when the announcer came and announced,

"The best original screenplay award goes to <The sixth sense>,Richard Jackson"

The entire theater heated up, everyone stood up and clapped for the genius who once again created history today. As this award makes Ric not only the youngest original screenplay winner but also the youngest man in history to win both the original and the adapted screenplay awards.

Richard hugged everyone including his parents and went on the stage took the award from the presenter and stood in front of the microphone.

This time Ric quickly calm down due to the experience but still did some shenanigans to make the audience laugh and to keep hold his persona.

"Oh look this one feels the same as the last one" Ric started his speech while weighting the trophy which made the audience laugh.

"Thank you judges for once again giving recognition to my work

Thanks everyone of <The Sixth sense > crew, Director Coppola to make a wonderful movie out off the script,

Thanks Al for giving me the acting guides, it was a good moment acting against you." Al Pacino clapped and nodded.

"Thanks Jodie for being a wonderful mother, no offense mom" causing everyone to laugh including Hanna while Jodie gave flying kiss.

"Finally I like say that this award proves that age doesn't matter in creativity." with that Ric went of stage while everyone once again stoop up and clapped.

After this <the sixth sense> bagged both the best actor and best director only to miss best picture, making the film taking 3 out of 5 awards home.

After the Oscars, the film <the Goonies >resumed shooting and went on its own pace. With another month gone by, the film was officially went to post production and like the previous one, it was released in June 7.

The Werner Bros released the film 1200 theaters across the U.S.

It ran for a total of 10 weeks while grossing 103.5 million in the United States and Canada and 101 million overseas for a worldwide gross of $204.5 million.

Making it the fourth movie in the top 10 highest grossing film in 1985, with <Home alone> leading the top.

This made Ric to be paced on the top position of highest grossing actor as well as celebrity in 1985. Making him the most sought after actor in Hollywood below age 17, for which sometimes the was offered roles of age 15-16 to play in films and even willing to pay 5 million

Its a surprising fact that Ric always stayed in top 5 of highest grossing actor every year from 1982 - 1985 while taking the top position three times.

For which the Forbes magazine in its 1985 edition made Richard the youngest and the most profitable actor in Hollywood for an average of 10 times the return for an investment.
