A Day With Shinigami

Today was a break day so Shinigami came to visit me in my room. I was happy that he did so I could get an answer to my question. But when I asked him what a ship was and that people were shipping us he just froze. I was confused, Was shipping a bad thing? He sighed and put a hand on my shoulder "Don't worry about that okay?" I nodded as he asked me if I would like to walk out in the forest behind the school. I agreed and he left so I could get ready. Once I was ready I walked out of my room to see him being teased by his brother Phanes. I walked to Shinigami who looked upset "Is everything okay Shinigami?" He nodded and grabbed my wrist pulling me with him as we walked out of the castle and into the woods. Once we were a good distance away he let go and looked at me "Apologies for grabbing you and pulling you here" I gave a small smile "Not a problem but are you okay? I get the feeling that something is bothering you" He looked down "That Idiot is just bothering me about how you look like a girl I used to know and how you act and sound just like her" I looked at him "What do you mean by 'used to know her? Do you two not talk anymore?" Shinigami sighed and the two of us walked deeper in the forest as he went on to explain "You see in my kingdom we separate people from life and death along with heaven and hell. I control and help sort people that need to die and go to hell. So of course people in the town see me as a burden and just basically hate me. But 𝓈𝒽𝑒 was different she was nice to me made me smile and laugh." I saw what looked to be a small smile creep onto his face for a second before it vanished in a snap "But that was short-livened when she changed, She started hanging around phanes. She treated me like everyone else, It was like I didn't exist again. One day I overheard her say she was only pretending to be nice to me so I was on alert the rest of the day and one day she snuck up from behind me and I... I attacked her, She turned to Ash on the spot. I still feel horrible about it, She was my first friend..." I felt immense empathy for him, He shouldn't have to feel that. I took a deep breath and hugged him, I felt him tense up however I didn't let go. I patted his head with a small smile "Well I promise that I will always be your friend and never betray you." I let go and spoke "Sorry for randomly hugging you I know you don't like to be touched" Shinigami pulled down his scarf that had been covering his mouth. I saw a small smile "Thank you Umiko" I nodded "Of course also your smile is adorable" I noticed his face get flustered from embarrassment before covering his mouth again. I smiled as we kept walking, I was enjoying the scenery when we heard something in the bushes. Shinigami was ready to kill it but I noticed it was just a small fox and kneeled wanting to pet it. Shinigami calmed down as I petted the fox. I looked up at him "Hey shinigami do you want to pet it?" He nodded a bit but seemed nervous so I grabbed his hand and held it to the fox. He eventually petted the fox and seemed proud of himself. We then kept walking and talking. It was nice hanging out with him, but we needed to head back since it would soon rain. So he walked me back to my room as it started to pour down rain. I sat by the window watching it fall and so did he. I felt at home hearing the sound of water. Shinigami looked at me "You seem awfully relaxed" I nodded "Yeah this is like my mother's magic, I feel at home with the sound of rushing or falling water." He nodded "You would like water parks then" I looked at him "What's a water park?" He went on to explain that a waterpark Is a place you can go to where they have fun rides and all sorts of things based around water. I smiled "That sounds like a fun place to go to!" He nodded "Yeah, We can ask for a field trip to the water park close to here, We've been there before so we could probably go again" I was excited "Awsome" He nodded pulling down his scarf and giving a small smile. I looked at him happily "You should let people see you smile more, It looks nice" He rubbed the back of his head "It will probably take a while since I don't really smile around the others." I nodded "We can work on that" He nodded and I heard a knock at my door.
