"Mom!" A young voice, a tad bit scratchy with frustration and clear annoyance, echoed through the house, reaching the ears of the parent.
"Yes, Aaron?" A woman, her hair a sparkling brown, smooth and soft as silk, called back patiently with an underlying tone of deep affection.
"I can't find my bag!" Her son complained, a long whine to her ears. "Did you take it, by any chance, Mum?"
"Why would I do that?" His mother questioned, a laugh building up in her chest. She loved messing with her son. "Come on, Aaron, you're seventeen now! You should keep all of your stuff in a place where you can find them again when needed," she said as she made her way to him.
"I don't know… you have taken it before," Aaron countered with a shrug as he looked at her skeptically. "Who's to say you haven't taken it now?" he asked almost challengingly.
"Aaron," the woman shook her head and repeated. "I don't know. If I did, I would have given it to you by now, don't you think?" His mother smiled gingerly as she turned to lightly punch his shoulder.
Aaron hummed disbelievingly. "I don't know… would you?"
"Maybe," his mother said with a cheeky smile. Aaron didn't reply and continued searching for his bag instead. It's not like he could grab her by the shoulders and shake the answer out of her. "Tell me when you find it!" his mother said before turning to leave without awaiting an answer.
Aaron found himself running around the house like a headless cockroach in search of his bag.
"Found it!" Aaron exclaimed a few minutes later. He took the bag out of its hiding place right behind the fridge – what on earth was it doing there? – and held it over his head like a trophy. He gave his mother a knowing look, which she skillfully ignored with a smile. He groaned; he could never get her to admit she hid it. He glanced at the clock on the wall before he started packing his bag quickly. That would be a mission for another day!
"You better hurry! School starts in an hour! And your car is in for maintenance," his mother stated disapprovingly as she shook her head again and left the room. Aaron could practically see her grinning the moment she turned to walk away.
"I'll catch you next time, Mom!" Aaron called out from his room.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, Aaron," chimed his mother from the kitchen.
"Bye, Mom! See you later," Aaron waved, not five minutes later. He had a long walk ahead of him.
"Are you sure you don't want me to take you?" his mother asked from the kitchen.
"Nah, I like the morning walk," continued Aaron as he left, the front door closing.
Aaron walked for about forty-five minutes until he reached a large building. On a sign at the front, in big, bold letters, the words "Soft Edge High" were printed in an intricate design. "Welcome back to prison, Aaron..." the words echoed in his mind as he walked onto school grounds.
He quickly made his way to the school before heading to the usual hangout spot for his friends. He quickly pinpointed his friends and headed towards them with a smile.
"What's up?" Jasmine Kira, a dark-skinned girl of African descent with an American accent, her hair a maroon color, and her attitude as fiery as ever, was the first to respond.
"Morning, guys!" Aaron nodded at her.
"Morning, Aaron!" Jason Miles, a blonde who was a bit ditzy but a good friend, smiled back.
Michelle Mercy, her hair sparkling golden and her brains always on full gear, was the third to verbally acknowledge him.
He felt his heart race at her gaze. "How are you, Aaron?" Michelle asked. "I'm good," Aaron replied with a smile.
Dean Kurt and Brianne Lispes, who had brown and black hair respectively, offered a short wave.
"Hiya!" Adam Savage played with his black hair as he looked at Aaron. Adam was very childish at times, but he was also Aaron's best friend. Bruce hummed in greeting. Bruce Finn was usually quiet and never spoke much.
"Fine, fine," Aaron sat down on the bench they had crowded around. "So... why does everyone look like they lost their favorite puppy?" he asked only half-jokingly.
"Very funny, Aaron," Jasmine responded with a sniff, looking emotionally hurt.
"What? It's a legitimate question!" Aaron continued. "Come on, Jasmine, don't be like that!"
"I'm just saying, Aaron," Jasmine said with a loud sigh. "We've got writing today, and I totally forgot..." She dropped her head in shame.
"That's what you get for being so scatterbrained," Michelle replied matter-of-factly. "I remembered."
Aaron scratched his head and shrugged. "Well, I remembered to... I just don't care about it."
"Well, Michie... not everyone is as smart as you and me," Adam replied with a smirk pulling at his lips. His sentence was quickly followed by Jasmine's laughter.
"Yeah! We actually have- wait, you just called me dumb!" Jasmine pitched in, her face changing. She was clearly caught off guard.
"Makes sense as to why you were just tricked into calling yourself average," Michelle smirked as she scoffed. "With that thing you call a brain, I am not surprised." Jasmine huffed at the comment.
"Yeah, well... well," started Jasmine, trying to find a response. Just as she thought she had a good one ready, she was silenced by a hand on her shoulder. She glared at Aaron, who interrupted her speech.
"Please, Jasmine... don't strain yourself. Just save your breath and accept defeat!" Aaron said, his face comically serious. Jasmine pouted angrily, provoking the group to laugh as one. "Aww, shut up, I could have said something!" She said, flustered.
"Oh really?" Jason asked. "What would you have said?" Jasmine flailed for a second. She forgot her super awesome line!
"See? Nothing!" Adam laughed wholeheartedly.
"You guys are jerks, y'know that?" Jasmine huffed in frustration.
"No, seriously... I would like a comeback if I am ever stuck in that situation," said Jason slowly.
"I think she's angry, guys..." Michelle said with a slight smile on her lips. The others nodded in agreement. In all this banter, Aaron felt odd. He kept getting this cold feeling, and his heart was racing.
"Aaron!" Brianne yelled, causing him to snap out of his trance and also scaring the life out of him.
"What?" Aaron's heart was still racing.
"I asked you if your mom is still leaving today," Brianne said with an innocent smile. Oh yes, she knew what she had done.
"Yeah, she is... why?"
"Nothing, I was just making sure... we're still having our get-together at your place, right?" Brianna asked, just to be sure.
Adam looked at her and answered sarcastically. "Nah. Didn't you hear? We're having it on the moon."
"The moon?" Jason repeated dumbly. "Isn't that too far away?" Michelle shook her head. A few of the others were chuckling at Jason's misfortune.
"He was being sarcastic, Jason. He doesn't mean it," Michelle replied before any of the others could bite out something mean. The shrill cry of the school bell rang in their ears.
"Yay... school begins," Dean said dryly.
Later that day...
'Come on...' Adam silently watched the clock. The seconds were ticking by way too slowly. "Finally!" Adam exclaimed as the bell rang, signifying the end of the day.
Thankfully, he walked out the door and turned right, walking into Jasmine, who was in the class across from him.
"Hey, Jas..." greeted Adam, a sly grin slipping onto his face. "Were you able to remember your comeback?" Adam asked with an amused expression.
"No..." Jasmine groaned. "I had an awesome one, but then... I forgot it!" Adam snickered at her complaint, which she glared at before deflating.
Eventually, they met up with the rest of the group outside by the school gate, as per usual.
"Thank goodness that's over! I felt like shooting myself in the head each second I was there!" said Aaron, as Adam patted him on the shoulder.
"Okay, thank you, Captain Dramatic. Let's leave before I hear you can fly," said Adam, as Aaron gave him a blank stare.
Dean and Brianne gave a low laugh, while Michelle and the rest chuckled. Aaron hung his head in defeat.
"Fine..." he sighed, feigning sadness.
Aaron looked at all his friends. "See ya later, guys!" Aaron said as he started his walk back home. Adam called out to Aaron.
"Hey man, do you want a lift? I could drop you off at home?" Aaron smiled.
"Sure, that would be awesome," said Aaron, as Adam chuckled.
"Let's get going then," said Adam, as he and Aaron said their goodbyes before leaving in Adam's car. The two sat in comfortable silence before Aaron looked at Adam.
"I forgot, but I want to stop at 'I Scream Ice Cream.' I want to have another screaming flavor," said Aaron excitedly as Adam chuckled.
"Alright, I will drop you off at the shop because I have to run some errands, but you do realize it will take you further away from home, right?" said Adam, as Aaron nodded.
"Yep, but... I scream for ice cream!" said Aaron.
Adam chuckled at his best friend's antics.
Just as planned, Adam dropped Aaron off at the ice cream shop before driving off.
With Aaron...
'This walk is a lot further than I thought it would be...' Aaron thought as he continued walking. The sunset and night slowly came. 'I probably shouldn't have taken so long at the ice cream store...' Aaron thought.
He finally turned into his street, walked for a couple of minutes until he saw something move. He turned to look, but nothing was there.
"Hello?" Aaron shook his head. He had been watching way too many horror films. Clearly, he needed to apply some brakes with the horror films. Subconsciously, he started to walk faster.
Something pulled on his shirt, provoking him to look back, yet nothing was there. 'I must be losing it...' he tried to relax. He rubbed his eyes and sighed. However, when he opened his eyes again, he found himself staring into a pair of red eyes.
Fear engulfed him as his body froze at the sight. Words couldn't come to his mind; he felt like he wanted to scream, but the sounds were stuck in his throat, almost choking him. The amount of terror flowing through him was enough to paralyze him and his vocal cords.
Aaron could not only feel his heart in his chest, but he heard it pounding, shaking lightly as he watched the figure - a being with long black claws and the face of a goat with glowing red eyes and horns on its head, nearly twice as tall as he was, standing at six feet and one inch.
When it spoke, he felt like he was about to pass out from the overwhelming fear. The voice vibrated through his very core.
"Lunch…" The creature said, exhaling black smoke through its nose.
Aaron's legs were shaking as he looked at the creature. 'Did…it…just…say…lunch…?' He suddenly felt like crying, hoping, no, praying it was a bad dream. The air around him felt dirty.
'Is…is…this where…I die?' He didn't have time to wonder, as the creature lifted its massive right hand with sharp claws.
Aaron did the only thing he could do - he watched. The giant hand neared him, as if in slow motion, just as he started screaming at the top of his lungs.
Five minutes ago, with Adam...
He had been driving around town, enjoying the sights and running his errands, when he felt his mind buzz, almost like it was ringing. He turned down the radio before responding.
"Demonic Magic Art: Link Accepted," Jasmine's voice started talking in his head.
"Hey, is Aaron with you?" She asked urgently.
"…no, why?"
Michelle's voice suddenly entered the conversation. "I can't believe we didn't hear about this sooner, but Bruce has been planning to kill Aaron. We heard one of the demons at school talking about it, so I...persuaded them into telling us when he wants to kill Aaron, and according to the information, he wants to do it today!" Said Michelle, as Adam frowned.
"I left Aaron at 'I Scream Ice Cream,' and if I know him, he will have stayed there for a while, so he should be on his way home now...otherwise...it might already be too late," grimaced Adam, as his anger spiked. "We all know the way Aaron walks home from school, let's see if he is still on the street. Hopefully, we aren't late," said Adam, as they all nodded.
"Demonic Magic Art: Link Terminate," said Adam, as the buzzing feeling disappeared.
Now with Aaron...
Suddenly, a red flame hit the creature and forced it back. Another creature appeared, one that had red flames enveloping its red skin, standing in front of him. It had a slim red tail that moved slowly from side to side. "You okay, Aaron?" The creature asked. It was about seven feet tall, with two horns on its head, yellow eyes, and red leather bat wings with a wingspan of eight meters. It was completely ripped.
Aaron was extremely quiet. He had no idea what to do, and he honestly felt like any sudden movement would result in him being in pieces on the floor. But something tugged on his arm. He glanced down at the contact; surprisingly, it was Michelle. "Move, Aaron." She pulled his arm towards her, forcing him to move as they ran towards the rest of their friends down the road.
Aaron looked around frantically. He was relieved, but his mind was in overdrive. "What the hell is going on?" he asked as he looked between his friends; Adam and Bruce were missing, his mind dully noticed.
"Adam is fighting Bruce," said Jason as if it were a very normal thing to say, a logical conclusion.
"What?" asked Aaron incredulously.
Michelle grunted in irritation. "Not helping! Just please try and calm down, Aaron," said Michelle, her voice somehow cutting through his fear and making him relax slightly.
"We will explain when Adam gets back. Just try and calm down, breathe Aaron... breathe," said Michelle. She looked Aaron in the eyes.
Aaron slowly nodded. He turned his attention back to the smaller, red-looking demon.
Back with Bruce and Adam...
"What the hell are you doing, Bruce?" Adam asked in annoyance and frustration, his voice dark and noticeably lower.
"I am hungry, and Aaron was the only human I was longing for," Bruce responded in his deep baritone voice with a shrug.
"Is he not your friend?" Adam asked with a dark glint in his eyes.
"He never was, and he never will be. Come on, Adam, you are a Devil. You shouldn't be stopping me... you should be encouraging me!" Bruce growled out. "When Lucifer finds out, you will be punished for this!" said Bruce.
Adam looked at Bruce. "Well, I think I know how you feel," Adam said, which made Bruce grin. Mentioning Satan's name always worked. "You never were my friend, and you never will be." Bruce's dark grin contorted into a frown just as quickly. "And how will Lucifer ever find out? Who said you were leaving here alive?"
Bruce took half a step back before he growled.
"I will kill you myself if I have to!" Bruce's right eye twitched with rage.
"You? Kill me?" Adam shook his head, not amused in the slightest. "Don't make me laugh." Bruce growled, sounding like a feral beast before he charged at Adam.
Adam gave Bruce an indifferent expression. He disappeared and reappeared in front of the charging Bruce. He stopped him with one hand, pulled on his horn, and pushed his face into the ground, making a five-meter hole in the ground.
"Don't forget, my 'friend'... I am a Devil, and you are a Demon. Know your place on the totem pole! I might not be the strongest type of Devil, but I'm enough to kill you!" Adam taunted as he easily lifted Bruce's hulking form with one arm, throwing him into the air. "Demonic Magic Art: Hellfire Breath," said Adam as he inhaled a large breath. He exhaled, and a large blue flame headed towards Bruce.
Bruce dodged in mid-air and charged towards Adam again, only to see Adam was gone. He felt something grab his tail and looked back to see Adam holding it with a smirk.
"When did you..." started Bruce, but didn't finish as anger took over. Bruce roared and swung his hand back to hit Adam, only for the attack to be stopped by Adam's forearm. Adam pulled Bruce by the tail to the ground before smacking him in the tar, creating cobweb cracks in the road.
"Honestly, Bruce, I don't see you winning this." Adam yanked hard on Bruce's tail, provoking him.
Bruce howled in pain as he lay on the floor. He was in too much pain to get up. "I would say this was fun," Adam said as he extended his left hand. "Demonic Magic Art: Hellfire Incinerate," said Adam, and a ball of blue fire appeared. "But it wasn't." He had a cold expression on his face while unleashing the attack, incinerating Bruce and making him nothing but a bad memory.
Back with Aaron and friends...
Aaron watched from the sidelines along with everyone else. "What the..." Aaron did not understand what was happening, and quite frankly, he didn't know if he wanted to.
Adam was suddenly in front of him, and Aaron got the fright of his life as he fell back in shock on the road, crawling backward. The strong feeling of despair and hopelessness was heavy in the air. Aaron felt dark thoughts swirling in his head just by standing near this... thing.
Adam's horns retracted, and his tail vanished. His clothes reappeared while the sickening aura, along with the demonic eyes, tail, and sharp claws, disappeared. "Hey, Aaron... you alright?" asked Adam in concern as he lowered down to his knee.
"What are you?" Aaron crawled away from Adam, realizing his friends had gone and stood next to Adam. "How are you all so calm with this!?" asked Aaron, as a thought dawned on him. "Unless you all knew this!?" accused Aaron, and a look passed over their faces. They knew alright.
'Are we really friends? None of the others seem surprised... they knew about this, and yet...' thought Aaron.
"Adam is a Devil," Jasmine answered and looked Aaron in the eyes.
"Adam is THE Devil!?" yelled Aaron, his eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.
"No, no... Adam is A Devil, not THEE Devil," corrected Jasmine, trying to explain and ease the situation, but she wasn't helping. Michelle glared at her.
"And Bruce is…" started Michelle before correcting herself. "Was a Demon... Demons feed on human flesh. Bruce wanted to eat you," Michelle said softly. You could tell she was concerned about this situation, but she didn't believe in beating around the bush, that much was clear.
"Well, that was subtle…" commented Dean as Michelle glared at him. He coughed before looking in another direction.
"What? I don't understand... What the hell is going on?!" Aaron looked between his friends, or rather, not friends, again. All of it was bouncing off his head.
"Listen, Aaron... There is something you need to know," Adam said. He could practically smell the fear rolling off Aaron in waves. "Trust me, pal... I am not going to hurt you." Aaron didn't really believe it, yet he nodded anyway.
"The world is very different from what you believe is true," Michelle continued once he nodded.
"Supernatural creatures such as Demons exist... Along with Angels and Vampires... And a lot of other things exist as well," said Jasmine. She was trying to explain without hurting his head.
Aaron looked at her like she was insane. And for all he knew, they all were. "I can't trust you and I don't believe you..." Aaron's voice trembled as he spoke and he cleared his throat. Michelle crouched close to him before placing her hand on his hand, trying to calm him.
"We understand that Aaron... But because you saw 'that' we can no longer keep the truth away from you, and honestly we never wanted you to even find out," Michelle said with a sigh. Adam nodded; he was worried based on his facial expression.
"We are all supernatural, well, except for you..."
Aaron felt his heart drop. You mean they are all demonic creatures that look evil?
"You don't look supernatural," Aaron said as his eyes narrowed in clear suspicion and disbelief. Even if he did just see Adam revert right before his eyes, his mind refused to accept it, at least not until he could understand what the heck was going on.
"Have you never heard of transformation? It's how we hide our true form," Dean answered.
Aaron looked to Dean. "Transform?" Adam nodded and sighed. He was not looking forward to this.
"But let's have this conversation at your house... You never know who might be listening," Adam said while crossing his arms. Aaron nodded as he slowly stood up. He was still shaken by the fact that he was nearly turned into Demon food.
"Okay... Let's go. We're nearly at my house anyways," Aaron forced out as he swallowed.
When they arrived at Aaron's house, it was empty. "I guess my parents left already...they should be back any moment," Aaron dropped down onto the sofa.
Adam sat down next to Aaron. "You know...you're taking this a lot better than anyone else has."
"You told someone else before?" Aaron asked as he glanced at Adam.
"No...it's just kind of surprising that you are quite calm. Another human might have started screaming out 'Monsters' or something...even though it's kind of true," Michelle said, and you could see this was bothering her. Aaron ushered for them to start explaining.
"Listen, this is hard to explain but, there are supernatural creatures all around you, just well hidden. Take me for instance, I am a Demon Fox," Jasmine said as her ears grew longer and her irises changed to bright purple, and her body shifted before she was down on all fours and now looked like a fox, but quite large. She was as tall as Aaron, who was standing upright.
As he watched Jasmine, his breath caught in his throat. She stood before him in her Demon Fox form, a sight of sheer majesty and elegance that left him spellbound.
Her fur, a rich shade of midnight purple, shimmered under the light like a cascade of starlight on a tranquil night. Each movement she made was fluid and graceful, as if she glided effortlessly through the air. Her eyes, glowing with an otherworldly intensity, held a depth that seemed to pierce through his soul, captivating him in their gaze.
As she prowled around him, her movements were both powerful and graceful, like a dance of shadows and moonbeams. The artificial light reflected off her sleek fur, casting an ethereal glow around her form, accentuating her every contour.
Aaron couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and reverence wash over him as he beheld her. In that moment, she was more than just a demon fox to his eyes; she was a divine being, a creature of beauty and power beyond mortal comprehension.
He couldn't tear his eyes away from her, mesmerized by her presence, it felt alluring. In her, he saw not just a fearsome creature of the night, but also a being of profound elegance and grace. And as he stood there, lost in her gaze, he knew that he would never forget this moment, and that his life was truly changing forever.
"This is me as a Demon Fox," she didn't stay transformed, but she turned back to normal.
Aaron looked at her in wonder. "Compared to Adam...you look pretty," Aaron found the comment spilling out of his mouth before he could stop it. She looked like a majestic creature.
"Well, Aaron, to be fair...I was fully transformed and had my angry face on!" Adam defended with a lopsided grin. "Plus, Demon Foxes have very powerful auras that can change how you feel when you see them, it makes it easier for them too-" said Adam, but was cut off by Brianne covering his mouth.
"You don't want to finish that sentence and scare him even more," said Brianne as Adam nodded.
"Well, you did look kind of cool...from a gamer's point of view at least!" Aaron allowed. "What about you guys?" Aaron asked as he looked at the others.
Dean looked at him and said, "I am a three-headed Hellhound; I am basically a Werelion that guards the gates of Hell, we take turns," Dean said with a shrug. Aaron gave him a look of disbelief. Where were his other two supposed heads?
Dean knew and raised his hand, stopping him. "Trust me, once you see it you cannot un-see it, unlike Jasmine's transformation, mine won't look or sound anywhere near as pretty," said Dean as Adam nodded.
"Oh yeah, it is something to behold..." Adam agreed, his face a bit pale. In fact, everyone seemed to be thinking about it with somewhat disgusted expressions.
Aaron felt it was probably safer for him to skip that detail. A thought occurred to him. "Wait...you mean Heaven and Hell exist?" Aaron asked with raised brows.
"Yes, they do...and so does Olympus and Asgard, as well as many other places, even other dimensions you've never heard of," Michelle said, trying to explain it without overloading Aaron.
"So does God exist?" Aaron asked. He didn't know why, but he was curious about that.
"No one knows..." Adam answered. "If he did exist, then it would be in the highest reaches of Heaven, locked away from everything else."
"I'm sure that most of the Angels in Heaven haven't even seen him, but there is a unanimous agreement, he certainly does exist if we all do," Jasmine said. "But the Archangels seem to be the face of everything and are tight-lipped." Aaron listened carefully.
"That's convenient," said Aaron with a curious expression.
"I hope this isn't going to change anything... knowing that we are all supernatural creatures and all." A joke made by Adam was usual, but in this case, Aaron was quiet.
As Adam's attempt at humor floated through the air, Aaron found himself unusually silent, his mind swirling with a mix of fascination and apprehension. The revelation of their supernatural identities intrigued him more than it frightened him, yet the realization of befriending beings capable of unimaginable feats didn't exactly soothe his nerves. And then, Adam's nonchalant remark struck a nerve.
"Not change? Not change!? How can things not change? Are you out of your mind?" Aaron's voice rose with a hint of panic, and frustration as he turned to face Adam. How could he make light of their situation? Everything had changed the moment Aaron glimpsed Adam's devilish transformation. He caught himself, inhaling deeply to calm the rapid beating of his heart.
"Listen, guys, I'm just wrapping my head around all of this. As fascinating as it is... I'd rather not find myself in an argument one day, only to end up as a casualty," Aaron awkwardly confessed, his words tinged with a sense of vulnerability. It was a valid concern; arguments were inevitable, and he didn't fancy the idea of a petty disagreement turning fatal.
"Aaron... if one of us wanted to kill you, it would have happened a while ago," Jason informed him matter-of-factly.
"Besides, we just saved your life, and we have all gotten into some stupid argument with you before, and here you are today," said Jasmine with a smirk. Aaron looked at the ground in thought.
Jason's matter-of-fact reassurance provided some semblance of comfort, but it was Jasmine's smirk that brought a flicker of reassurance to Aaron's troubled mind. "Well... you guys did save me from... being eaten," he acknowledged, his tone tinged with a touch of dark humor.
"To be honest... you will have to watch your back... there will be creatures that will want to eat you!" Jasmine exclaimed cheerfully. Aaron gave her a blank expression, which showed he was not in the mood.
"You have no idea how many times we had to kill other creatures that wanted to eat you," Dean provided in an effort to help.
Jasmine's cheerful declaration about potential threats elicited a blank stare from Aaron, his mood considerably less jovial. And then Dean's sobering reminder of their past encounters with creatures hungry for Aaron's flesh only served to dampen his spirits further.
"Well, that's reassuring," Aaron muttered sarcastically, his tone dripping with skepticism. Michelle's timely intervention brought a brief moment of clarity, prompting Jasmine and Dean to fall silent as they realized the unintended impact of their words.
A car pulled up in front of the driveway. "I guess my parents are back," Aaron said with a sigh. "Let's continue this tomorrow. You guys will be using the door... right?"
They all nodded. They didn't want to freak him out even more by just vanishing and making him even more paranoid.
"We will go through the front door," Michelle said as she pulled her hair to the side. Aaron nodded and stood up. Michelle and everyone else copied his movements a second later.
"Today has been very... informative," Aaron opened the door, and his parents walked in.
"I see you invited your friends over. Was it fun?" asked his mom. Aaron nodded.
"Oh, it was... more than you could ever imagine," commented Aaron.
They all greeted his parents before walking away. "See you tomorrow, Aaron," Jasmine waved as she walked away.
"They could have stayed for dinner," his father said. Aaron huffed and marched to his room. "No, they had to leave. I am tired as well. See you guys, I already ate," said Aaron. He lied about eating to get some peace. He had a lot of information to digest. His mother and father glanced at each other with a confused expression before shrugging. "Teenagers..." he heard his mother as he walked away. He knew what she was trying to do. "Nice try, mom!" yelled Aaron as he entered his room. He heard her yell back.
"It was worth a try, wasn't it!?" yelled his mom. She wanted to try and extract information from Aaron, but he finally chuckled as he lay on his bed, feeling tired. 'Today was something else...' Aaron thought as he closed his eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.
