"I can't believe you, Kyle."
Late at night, by the barrels at the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room, Cedric said with a conflicted expression, "You agreed to sneak out with the Weasley brothers!"
"I thought about it. They're right."
Kyle was looking down, rummaging through his chameleon-skin bag. "I need to do something fun to ease my bad mood."
"You can't sneak out though…" Cedric said, his voice filled with pain, "That's against the rules. If you get caught, you'll lose points, and you'll be in detention! You're only a first-year. Don't go down the path of breaking the rules."
He was being very sincere. It was as if he really didn't want to see Kyle be corrupted by the Weasley brothers.
"Don't worry, with the Marauder's Map, nobody can catch us."
At this time, Kyle found what he was looking for. He looked up at Cedric, "Besides before you say anything, look at where you are. We're in the castle hallway, not the common room. You're part of the sneaking out too, alright?"
"I, I don't want to sneak out." Cedric said stubbornly, "I just wanted to watch over you, to prevent you from breaking more rules."
"Tsk." Kyle snorted, raising an eyebrow, "Then listen to you. Let's go back. We're not going to the Forbidden Forest to watch Mooncalfs dance."
"Uh, that…." Cedric's eyes suddenly darted around. He mumbled, "No, I… I didn't mean it that way. I just wanted to…"
"You want to go to the Forbidden Forest, right?" Kyle interrupted him without hesitation. He pointed to Kanna, who was standing next to them silently. "Learn from her. If you want to go, just wait. Say one more word, and I won't take you."
Cedric chuckled awkwardly and immediately went quiet.
Although Kyle and the Weasley twins had tried to keep their voices low when they were talking at the dinner table, it was such a small table, that they couldn't avoid being overheard by Cedric and Kanna, who were sitting next to them.
When Kyle sneaked out of the dorm, he turned around and saw two heads staring at him in the moonlight.
That scene made Kyle's scalp tingle. His last bit of sleepiness disappeared, and he broke out in a cold sweat.
These two people were Cedric and Kanna, and their goal was simple: they wanted to go to the Forbidden Forest with Kyle.
Then, the scene just now happened.
After Cedric went quiet, Kyle took a bundle of long, thin things from his chameleon-skin bag and handed it to him, "Choose one."
Cedric looked at the things in Kyle's hand. They seemed familiar. He took a closer look and realized it was scarves from the other three houses.
Gryffindor is red and gold. Slytherin silver and green. Ravenclaw blue and grey. They were all there.
About fifteen scarves were tightly bundled together. If you weren't paying attention, it would look like a log.
Cedric was a little confused. He asked instinctively, "Kyle, why are you giving this to me? I have my own scarf."
"This isn't for warmth, just in case." Kyle said without looking back, "If you're caught, throw it on the ground while you run away."
"..."
Cedric and Kanna exchanged a confused look, wondering if they should take it.
Seeing that they weren't moving, Kyle simply pulled two silver-green scarves from the bundle and put them around their necks.
He was wearing one too.
After equipping themselves, the three left the kitchen corridor and arrived at their previously agreed location: in front of a small hut next to the Great Hall, the place where they had waited before Sorting.
Besides Sorting, nobody paid attention to this place. Even Filch rarely came here to patrol.
When they arrived, Fred and George were already waiting for them.
"Wow! Look who's here." George's eyes lit up. "First-place Cedric, and Kanna, the warrior who conquered Snape."
Fred exclaimed, "I can't believe how luxurious our sneaking-out crew is. This is truly... Wait!"
At this moment, he suddenly noticed something. "Why are you all wearing Slytherin clothes?"
Kyle sighed and explained again.
"What a brilliant idea…"
Fred and George were awestruck. They couldn't wait any longer. "Do you have more? Give us one too!"
Kyle shrugged. He also gave them two silver-green scarves.
Don't ask why it was all Slytherin. It was just convenient. It had nothing to do with Snape.
The twins took the scarves and immediately put them on.
Fred admired his new look. He asked with curiosity, "Kyle, I think you've never left Hogwarts. Where did you get this?"
"My mom sent it to me."
Kyle explained, "Along with the scarf, there was a master key and an invisibility cloak that had been charmed with a Disillusionment Charm.
I don't know why she sent them to me, but it just so happens I can use them."
He said it lightly, but he didn't notice that the twins' eyes had turned red.
"Master key…"
"Invisibility cloak..."
Fred gulped and said sincerely, "Mrs. Chopper is truly the greatest mother in the world."
"That's right." George said in agreement, "Her deeds and thoughts should be written into a book and placed in the most visible spot in Flourish & Blotts and the school library."
"If there was ever such a day, I guarantee I would buy it."
"Even if I had to go bankrupt, I'd buy it back."
"Put it in the kitchen…"
"Or in Mom's room!"
"If there was ever such a day..." Kyle grinned, "You would probably get your ears twisted off by Mrs. Weasley."
"No." Fred said seriously, "Mom never twists our ears."
"She just twists our ears." George laughed, "I guess she wanted to twist our ears off so she wouldn't call our names wrong anymore."
"Although she's never called us wrong before."
Watching Kyle and the twins laugh and talk, Cedric and Kanna, standing beside them, were so scared they didn't dare to move. They were afraid that Filch would suddenly jump out of a corner, and take them to the professor's office.
"Don't worry, we're always watching the Marauder's Map." Fred, noticing their unease, spread out the parchment in his hand, "Filch and Mrs. Norris are on the fifth floor. As long as we don't shout, he won't find us... Oh, damn it, the cat's coming!"
On the map, the name representing Mrs. Norris was moving quickly towards them.
George, seeing this, immediately pointed his wand at a tapestry next to them.
"Revelio!"
The tapestry split open, revealing a deep passage.
"Go in!" Fred said urgently, "We need to leave before that cat gets here!"
They didn't dare to hesitate. They quickly squeezed into the passage.
When George, who was at the back, also went inside, the tapestry immediately returned to its original appearance.
The next second, Mrs. Norris arrived.
She looked at the empty hallway and wandered around for a while, confused, then left.
