CHAPTER 38

MAGEDELENE'S POV

Magedelene wakes up with a banging headache, her eyes and body still inactive, She squints her eyes and figures out she's in her room.

She lies lifeless on her bed, Flashes of yesterday replays in her head, She is squealing happily at each memories that reoccurs.

"Magedelene, I really love you." keeps on replaying on her head.

Slowly, the smile begins to vanish slowly, Steph had been blowing up her Line.

Yesterday she has just wanted to enjoy the moments, to let go off all her problems.

But her problems still finds a way to linger in her thoughts and everyday life.

That strange number that called her, Her intuition is very affirmative, that it was from her Birth Dad,

It had to be Him,

The caller didn't say anything, but Magedelene is quite sure, it was Him.

"Why didn't he say something, Why?" Magedelene ponders.

"Why is he just appearing now, Why now, when things are going good for me." Flashes of her and Philip crosses her mind again.

Messages starts flowing in her Phone, She swipes them out, She had to reach out to her Mom.

She had to call Steph, Steph picks up the call on the First Ring.

"Hi baby, Am happy you finally returned my calls." Steph sound so excited on the Phone.

"Ma, I am really sorry." Magedelene feeling so bad.

"Baby, You have done nothing wrong." Steph tells her.

"Ma, I have, I didn't step up for you, I didn't believe you, I didn't trust you enough." Magedelene was ready to go on and on, but Steph stops her.

"I get you baby, it's all the fault of that Investigator not yours Child." Steph speaks gently. "I can never get mad at you, I love you so much."

Madegelene fell silent, with what she's about to say next, Would Steph love her again.

She begins to doubt herself 'Was she a bad child, a bad daughter for wanting answers to her questions? '

"Baby, Are you there." Steph calls out as she notices the silent "Did I say something I shouldn't have mentioned."

"Ma, It's not you, it's Me." Magedelene stammers on the Phone lm

"What's wrong Baby." Magedelene could sense worriness from Steph voice.

Magedelene didn't speak for a while, She's contemplating the question, the favour she's about to seek,

The words blurts out from her "Can I get to know my Dad?"

Steph didn't say anything on the line at first, when she did, this was the question "Did they reach out to you again" Steph asked slightly angry.

"No, Nobody reached out to me." The lies slips through her lips, Magedelene knows what Steph was capable of doing.

"Then why now, Why?" Steph asks in frustration.

Then suddenly, The tone at which Steph had asked the question made Magedelene to realize, that Steph wasn't angry like they all supposed she was.

Underneath that narrative they had created of her, Steph is really scared, she's in fear.

"Ma, what are you really afraid of." Magedelene breaks the silence between them.

Steph scoffs at the question, as she rolls her eyes.

"Ma, Did you just roll your eyes at me?" Magedelene knew she would do that.

Steph let's out a chuckle "You know me that well." Steph beams.

"Yes Ma, Right now, I can sense that you're not angry, but you're scared of loosing me, of them taking me away from you." Magedelene tells her.

Steph didn't say a word, She heaves deeply.

"That Narrative, that I kept you away from them, I didn't do such a thing, Yes I heard your birth Father was searching for you, but I didn't do what they accusing me of."

Steph pouring out her heart

Magedelene cuts her short "Ma, i don't care about what was said anymore, I just don't want us to keep fighting over this, I want us to get past this." Magedelene pauses and begins to laugh

"Why are you laughing, am i acting like a clown again." Steph asks jokingly.

Magedelene laugh harder, making Steph joins in the laughter.

"Ma, Did you remember our Anthem."

Steph recalls and begins to say it

" We always tell our selves, It is Us against the World."

Magedelene stops and stares at the Phone,

Imaginging she's seeing Steph face to face

"Then let's give him a chance, let's us see if he's remorseful like he claims he is."

Magedelene pauses, breathes in and continue

"Maybe he is truly the father I had imagined all my life."

There's is silence from both end, Then Steph begins to speak

"I am really scared here, I have sleepless night thinking

What if you get taken away from Me?

What if you get trapped and i can't help you?. Magedelene listens as Steph voice out her fears

"Ma, Do you know what a wise and strong woman once told me." Steph stays slient as she listens to what Magedelene has to say

"She said, Risk has it Ups and Down and the Ups are, it opens our eyes to Possibilities." Magedelene quoting what her Mom told her years ago.

Steph knew that quote was from her "But right now, The Downs has upper hands, I can't lose you." Steph opening up about her fears.

Magedelene knows they both have reasons to be scared, their point are both valid.Sge couldn't promise her mom that things would go wrong.

"Ma, I just want you to know that I can't do anything without your approval, I just want you think about this and consider me alongside." Magedelene tells her in the softest way possible.

"Believe me Baby, I hear you." Steph tells her.

"I have to go now." Steph chips in quickly

" Okay, I just want you to know that I do love you." Magedelene says before the line goes off.

"Don't bribe me with that." Steph tells her jokingly. They both laugh once again.

Magedelene fell face flat on the bed, Remembering messages had come in, when she was talking to Steph.

One was from Sam, She wasn't ready to face work right and maybe criticism,

Another was from Magedelene who was begging for the tea of what happened at Philip house

And the last one, was from Philip, She quickly opens it. He writes,

"The other day was fun, let's recreate more Memories like that just You and I."

She reads it aloud, and keeps on staring and re-reading it as she paints some of the sketches she drew.
