"You guys are too loud. Quiet down would ya?" I asked the boy below me.

As the world went to hell Aimi and I were relaxing on top of the building making plans, talking to each other, and eating the bento I made. After we ate she took a nap as she was getting tired so right now her head was currently resting on my lap.

Of course, I put some headphones around her ears, muffling the sounds around us so as to not wake her up. I've also been watching their group's movements and decisions to see if there would be any changes in the storyline. There have only been subtle changes but the ending was still the same.

And as the climax was about to end with Takashi ending his friend's life due to his request I intervened. Why do you ask? Cause why not. Since I'm here I'm going to do whatever I want. Plus ending him here will save me the trouble of hesitating one of the dead or living. Although, I've already steeled myself for this doesn't mean there might not be hesitation but hey, better safe than sorry. Though I doubt I would hesitate.

Back to the story…

"You guys are too loud. Quiet down, would ya?", I asked the boy.

"W-who are you? Where did you come from?" Takashi asked, shocked.

"I'm Sumeragi Kodaka, feel free to call me by my given name, and for your second question, we've been here this whole time taking a nap. But you guys woke me up with your yelling."

"How long have you been up here? Do you even know what is happening right now?" Rei asked me.

"We've been up here ever since school started and for your second question, yes, I know what's happening around me. The dead are up and walking, eating the living. The city is in chaos. And I'm up here taking a nap with my companion."

"Wait, doesn't that mean you were aware of what was going to happen?!" Takashi asked in anger.

"Sekai~," I said, clapping my hands, "You're smarter than you look delinquent-Kun."

At this point, Takashi was enraged. "How could you not warn anyone else? You could have saved lives!" he yelled at me, anger visible on his face.

"Ehh~, why should I? If I said that in front of everyone, there would have been even more panic and everyone would rush quickly into the mouths of those monsters down below. You should think about things you say and who you are saying them to." I told him. "Besides, who would believe that zombies are up and roaming around? Also, you have no right to be lecturing me." I told him, staring him down.

"What?" he questioned, confused about what I said.

"As far as I noticed, you are clearly hot-headed and not that knowledgeable. If you didn't know about the situation below, then how did you get out of the crowds of students without getting injured?" I stopped letting them process what I said. "You knew about it beforehand and were able to escape as well as grab weapons to protect yourselves, right?"

Looking at him with a death glare, I said in a deathly calm voice, "Know your place… you fool"

Falling back in fear, everybody was stunned, but Rei came out of her shock and tried to apologize on his behalf, even though I didn't need it.

"I'm sorry about him, Kodaka. He was just too angry, that's all. He won't do it again."

"It's fine," I said, as I looked down to see Aimi awake.

"What happened?" she asked me, rubbing her eyes.

"We have some guests," I told her, as she lifted herself from my lap.

"Sakura-sensei!" Rei exclaimed in surprise.

"Hmmm~ oh it's Miyamoto. What are you doing up here?" Aimi asked in surprise.

"We came up here to avoid the monsters below. What are you doing here with Kodaka?" she questioned.

"Napping." she simply replied.

Looking at Hisashi, "Say what you need to say. You don't have much time as it is."

It surprised everyone as they looked at Hisashi. I was correct. He had a gaping wound on his arm that he must've gotten on the way up here. A transfer of bodily fluids through a bite of the body is all it takes to turn into 'them' after all.

Jumping down from the platform, I walked towards Hisashi, pushing Takashi and Rei out of the way, as they looked confused by my actions.

"What are you doing?"

"What's your problem?!", they shouted at me.

"Hisashi doesn't have much time, he also doesn't have the will to kill himself, so he wants one of you to kill him, as he asked previously," I told them.

"Wait, wait, wait, wait a minute. How do you know he's turning? He could be fine. We just need to get him to a hospital.", Rei said, denying it.

"Are you an idiot? You saw how people who have turned were bitten, right? And even if it wasn't true, what makes you think we can save him? He's losing a lot of blood and, as you can see, this is happening everywhere. The hospital will be packed and they won't be able to save everyone." I told her, brutally crushing any illusions she had.

"Besides, look at him", I pointed towards Hisashi as he was clinging to life where he was sitting.

"He's…right…ple…kill..m–" he fell to the ground, with blood pouring from the wound he received. Rei was crying as her boyfriend died right there in front of her. She was near Hisashi looking at his face.

I'm going to put him out of this misery.

Hisashi's body twitched. He'll turn soon. Looking at Takashi, he seemed to notice this as well, but Rei was still protecting his body, delusional about what was happening. As I was about to intervene, Takashi stepped up.

Tightening his grip around the bat, "Get away from him, Rei." Takashi told her.

Takashi walked towards them, adopting a serious look as Rei tried to explain to him.

"No! You can't do that! He's not turning. He's gonna be fine!"

"Get away from him," Takashi said once more.

Looking at Hisashi's body, he finally turned, and I heard a low growl come from him. Rei, hearing this as well, looked towards him, "Look Takashi, he is getting up. He's getting better."

I watched as the once-human Hisashi got up, groaning at Rei. His skin color changed as well from its white texture. Before Rei could do anything stupid, Takashi grabbed her and pulled her back.

"No way. This can't be true. No way." Rei cried, watching as her boyfriend came back from the dead.

"I know you can't believe it. I can't believe it. But it's happening," he said to her.

"Takashi, don't do it." She pleaded as tears streamed down her cheeks. "Don't do it."

"It's happening!" he yelled out before charging toward Hisashi. Once in range, he wound up his bat and delivered a vertical swing to Hisashi, bashing his brains in.

"NOOOOOOOO!"

- - - A Few Moments Later - - -

"Why? Why?" she asked over and over again.

"He would have bitten you if I didn't do it," he explained.

"I didn't ask you to save me! And how would you know that, anyway? What are you, some expert?"

'This girl is stupid' I thought to myself, 'It's common fucking sense. If you get bit, then you turn into a zombie. Everybody knows this. I even explained it to her.'

"And I would have been willing to get bitten. Better to die that way than to survive by doing something like this!" she rebuked.

"I don't think Hisashi would have wanted that for you." He told her.

"How do you know that, Takashi? Oh, I know. I know. You must have hated Hisashi, am I right? Because he was dating me," she said viciously, tearing through him.

Takashi walked towards the barricade in front of the gate and stopped as Rei called out to him. "Hey, where do you think you're going?"

"You obviously don't want me around anymore. I'll go downstairs and smash 'them'." he said before continuing his walk.

Getting up quickly, she chased after him in desperation. "Hey what are you talking about? You can't take on many of them by yourself."

Ignoring her, he continued to take things away from the barricade.

"Hey wait Takashi," she called to him, only to be ignored once again.

Climbing on the barricade was the last straw for her as she hurriedly latched onto his arm and started to apologize. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean it. I really didn't mean it! So, please. Please stay with me, don't leave me!" She cried out, tightening her grip.

Coming down from the barricade, he hugged her, and she reciprocated.

"You guys done?" I said, pulling them out of their own world. Separating from each other, they blushed in embarrassment as they forgot I was there.

"Now that you're down with your drama, let's get out of here," I told them, as Aimi nodded behind me.

"And how are we supposed to do that?" Rei asked, wiping her tears.

"Inside this building is a fire hose. We can use it to push back the zombies as we make a run to the door leading downstairs." I explained to them, "Rei will turn the hose on as Takashi sprays them down. Aimi and I will take the lead once the gate is clear."

"Wait before we leave. I want to call my dad to let him know I'm alright." Rei said. Nodding, I grabbed my bag and pulled out my weapons. Feeling stares at my back I turned around, "What?

"Why do you have weapons in your bag?" Aimi asked

"I always have them with me. After school, I go to the park and practice with them." I explained to her. It wasn't exactly lie as I did train with them time to time after school. She knew this as well as she's seen me practice with them in our front yard. Accepting my explanation, I gave her the gloves for protection and I grabbed my daggers.

Stretching a bit, Aimi and I were ready to go. We just have to wait for Takashi and Rei to finish their call. We were curious, so we listened, wondering what it was.

The phone rang for a few moments before it cut through. "Dad" Rei called out.

"Hello, Takashi, is that you?"

"Dad, listen. Daddy, we're at school and–"

"Hello, Takashi? You must have gotten this number from Rei. Is Rei okay? Is she with you? Are you both alright?"

"Daddy, what's the matter, can't you hear me!"

"Listen carefully, the entire city is in panic mode."

*Bang*

A gunshot was sounded off over the call. "You need to get out of there, you understand? The city is already in panic mode. You need to evacua–" Rei's father asked before the line got cut.

"No service? But I just called him," she said, dialing the number one more time.

"Calm down," I said, before she broke down again, "With everything that's been happening so far, it's normal that the lines would be too packed. Too many calls might have overloaded it and it's shut down for now."

"You're right," she muttered to herself, taking a deep breath, "Thank you."

Accepting her thanks, we got into our position and were ready to leave.

"Turn on the water," I instructed Rei. Turning it on, it took Takashi by surprise at how strong the water was spraying. Quickly gaining control, sprayed down the barricade, knocking it back, and causing the zombies to crash into the floor head-first.

"Alright let's go," I told Aimi, as she nodded. Jumping down the stairs, we made a dash toward the 2 remaining zombies in the vicinity, "I'll take the one on the right"

Speeding up, I reached him in what felt like a moment before bringing my dagger up, thrusting into his lower jaw, and stabbing his brain. The body colla[sed to the floor as blood seeped from the injury. Looking over to Aimi, she was about to finish, as well.

Taking out its knees, it fell down to its knees before she gave a sharp kick to the back of its head, slamming it to the floor before stomping it into the ground, crushing its head in. Looking at me, we nodded to each other before signaling the other two over.

"That was insane!" Rei said in awe of our performance.

"Thank you for the compliment," I said.

"Come on, let's go.

Making it inside the school, we ran down the stairs as Rei and Takashi followed behind us.

"Where do we run to?" we heard Rei suddenly ask.

"To my place. Go there and get the supplies we need and meet up with other people who haven't turned in yet. Work together and get someplace safe. Sounds like a plan to me." Takashi answered.

"Yeah. Yeah, you're right. Now that I know my dad is okay... We should probably call your house to make sure they're alright too. Kodaka, Sakura-sensei, do you need to call family members or friends?" Rei asked us.

"No. We have no siblings; our parents died when we were young. Besides, the only person I want safe right now is right beside me." I told them, without looking back.

"Are you guys cousins or something? I'm sorry if this is rude, but you guys are close, on a first-name basis, but you guys don't look similar, so what's your relationship?" Rei asked.

Looking at Aimi for a second, she nodded. Well, this is the end of the world, it really wouldn't matter if they knew.

"We're lovers," I said plainly.

"Eh? L-lovers?" Rei exclaimed in a somewhat loud voice.

"Quiet down. Noise attracts zombies, Aimi told her.

"Sorry, it's just how? You're our teacher, but you're in a relationship with a student."

"Of course, we hid our relationship. We can talk about this later if you want, but let's focus on escaping." I told her. "Takashi, do you want to check up on your house?"

"Waste of time. Nobody's home. My dad won't be back in town until next week. And my mom's a school teacher, so she won't be back home until after 5. Besides, they get on my nerves." Takashi explained, speeding up and taking us over.

Giggling, I hear Rei say, "Well, their parents, it kinda comes with the job."

Catching up to Takashi, I whispered to him, "You don't have to act tough, you know. I know you're scared and worried about your family."

He looked shocked that I saw through him.

"How?" he muttered.

"Do you see this place? The place is filled with the dead walking around and the same thing is happening outside. How could you not be worried about it?"

Releasing a sigh, he nodded to me. "We can check up on your mom soon. If I remember correctly, there should be a military bunker underneath the school. The teachers should know about it so they'll evacuate the children there before getting in themselves," I reassured him.

"Thanks."
