"That's a wrap." She finally heard. Finally, she can go back home. For three days, they were shooting this commercial. It was not an easy one since the director was quite picky with the scenes.
She walked back to her chair and grabbed her water bottle and towel. The heat from the lights certainly made her thirsty.
"As always, you are perfect." The director said.
"Thanks, Stanley. I just did my part. It was your directing that made it easy for me." Returning the compliment that made him smile widely at her.
"It is always a pleasure working with you. Hope we could do a movie someday." Stanley said, giving her a warm hug.
"I hope so too." She did not mind his eccentric personality. He admired his work ethic, so a future project with him would always be welcome to her.
Amy grabbed all her things and walked with her towards her trailer parked just outside the studio.
She thought that it would be a struggle for her to get back to work after the big fiasco more than a year ago. Fortunately, people had a short memory span and easily forgive and forget her transgressions.
She could still hear some whispers about what happened once in a while, but a lot of her fans were beginning to support her career once again. It would be her third month since she started doing small gigs, such as commercial shoots, guesting, and among other things.
"I will be going back home immediately. If Jessica calls, tell her that I don't want to be disturb," she said to Amy as she changed to her clothes and removed some of her makeup, and freshen up.
"Are you forgetting that you still have one more meeting to attend tonight?" Amy reminded her.
"What meeting?" She tried to jog up to her memory, but she was clueless about what her assistant was talking about.
"Your date." Amy teasingly said. "Did you forget about Edward? Dinner? Date?"
She faced palm herself, realizing that Amy was right. She forgot about her date with Edward. George set her up with one of his co-doctors who she met while taking care of his dad.
"Of course. I did not forget that." She quickly responded. "That is why I told you that I am not to be disturb." She reasoned out.
It would be her second date with the doctor. He was charming, intelligent, and kind. He was a thoracic surgeon. One of the surgeons, who handled her Dad's operation.
He did not inspire any romantic notion in her. He did not make her heart beat faster or made her toes curled when they kissed good night on their first date, but she could see that he was a good man.
"I hope I'm not early." He said as she opened the door of my apartment.
She gave him a slight peck at the cheeks as she took the roses on his arms. "Not at all, just give me a few minutes. Please seat down while I get my bag."
He took a seat on the sofa of her living room. Her apartment was not that big, with a few of the essentials. Just like the size of the villa. Although she did not have the same view.
She did have a good time with him, not like the rest of her other dates. She was willing to give him a second chance since he was the best date she had for the last year. Maybe if she gave herself a chance to spend time with him, she might find herself falling in love with him.
Besides, she had no other prospects at the moment. It was also becoming tiring to go home to her empty apartment. When she went back to her acting career, she decided to get a condominium apartment in LA. Living in her home in the hills had its perks, but its enormous size was suffocating her.
Also, she needed a place where she could easily access it when she was working around the city since the traffic in this part of downtown was terrible. Then, it would be easier for her to visit his dad and sisters.
"Where are we eating?" She asked nonchalantly.
"I found this new place not far from here. George recommended it." Edward pointed out.
She looked at him funnily. "Are we talking about my sister or someone else named George?"
"Your sister, of course. Why?" He glanced her way as he continued to drive.
"Well, I never thought of my sister to be a foody person." She said, thinking of how busy George was in the hospital. Devoting her life to her career to be one of the best surgeons in this part of the country.
"She is cool and quite fun to be with." He said, amazed at what she heard.
Maybe it was not only her who had changed. She was so preoccupied with her life that she failed to see the changes in the people around her. She suddenly realized that it was time she opened her eyes to reality. That part of her past that she kept in her heart and mind was over. It was time for her to move on.
She glanced at Edward and decided that she should give him a chance. To open her heart to new possibilities. Not just about finding love, but finding herself too.
When they entered the restaurant, she never felt the usual chill of seeing people staring at her. She just did not care anymore. She had suffered enough for her sins. She already made amends. Now, she just wanted to live her life to the fullest. She had finally forgiven herself.
"It was a lovely evening. I had a great time." She told him as he walked her back to her apartment door.
"I also did. I would like to see you again." He took her hand and kissed it gently.
"I would love that." She said as she pulled him closer to her. She tilted her head until her face was slightly aligned with his.
He took that as a sign to kiss her. It started with a slight touching of the lips that slowly intensified until he pulled away. "I think it is time for me to leave. I'll call you."
"Yeah. I'll be waiting." She said as she moved back inside her home, closing the door behind him.
She imagined the kissed they just shared. It was not exactly bad. Although it still lack the intensity she was looking for, but it was a start.
