Chapter 3

Ameera's POV

I woke up once again with so much pain coursing through out my body, but what was different is the room I am in, it looks like a doctor's room but a lot lush than I imagined. There were multiple tubes all over me and machines attached to me. I start playing the last thing that happened to me and then I realized my back was broken. Shock wave spun through my body as I looked at my feet and tried to move them, I could feel my legs again. Thank the heavens, I am not paralyzed for the rest of my life.

Suddenly the rooms door opened and a tall man walked in he had golden blonde hair that was neatly cut and in perfect condition. I instantly felt self-conscious about my hair and immediately without even thinking touched my own hair. I was shocked to notice my hair is clean and brushed it has never been washed, I always went to the waterfall twice a week to clean myself in the river but never did I have soap or shampoo so it didn't really look better afterwards but it made me feel better.

As I was lost in my own thoughts fiddling with a strand of my hair, the most amazing smell caught my nose and then I remembered the man that walked in earlier was sitting right next to me staring at me. I looked into his eyes, they were golden just like his hair, it fascinated me so much that I still have not said anything to him. It didn't seem to bother him he kept silent to looking at me with a soft warm smile on his face. "Hi my name is Shaw, what is yours? "He finally broke the silence between us, "A... Ameera..." I said softly with a croaky voice. "Am I in trouble? I didn't mean to offend Mr. Angle; I was just hungry; I won't do it again… I… promise…" tearing up, I looked away incase it might offend him for how weak and scared I was.

"No, little one, you are not in trouble. Nor will you ever need to be afraid again, Ameera. How are you feeling?" his voice so gentle as if not to frighten me, this eases my nerves and I start to trust him and believe his words. "It hurts but at least I can feel my legs and move them, I thought I would be paralyzed for the rest of my life and then I would be useless to Mr. Angle and he would most likely kill me this time. "Flinching at the thought as I spoke, Shaw probably saw my fears and placed his hand softly on mine. His hand so warm, compared to mine he might have a fever but I realized I was just as cold as an ice cube. "My dear, Ameera, you don't have to worry he will never harm you ever again." I see his eyes flickering different colors as he completes his sentence. "Who are you?" I ask as curiosity takes over," And why is eyes changing color, better yet how are they doing that." Not really giving him a chance to answer the first question as the latter is more concerning to me. "Ameera, how old were you when you started living with the Angle's?", probably dodging my questions, I decided to answer his. "I was 5 years old, sir." I stay polite since I still don't know what will happen to me.

"Oh, Ameera, you may call me Shaw, no need for curtesy when you are around me. Do you remember where you came from and who your family is?" he giggles as he started his sentence. I found it sweet the way he spoke to me and smiled at me. I almost forgot to respond to his question. "I don't remember anything of where I came from nor who my family was?" I looked down at my hands as it was a sensitive subject to me." Was? They died?" He leans a bit closer and lowers his voice. "Yes, a stranger found me and took me to the Angles' home, all I remember was the stranger told Mr. Angle my family was killed by an animal." I start tearing up again but not allowing a single drop to fall. "I am sorry for your loss, Ameera, may I know your age?" he asked while gently caressing my hand. "I turned 18 today." He frowned and asked "Ameera do you know what day it is?" I shook my head and stared at him as if waiting for a reply. "After your accident you have been in a coma for 2 weeks." My eyes grew wide as I looked at him. "Oh, so in… that case 2 weeks ago I turned 18." He looked at me, but I could sense he was thinking of something. I waited for him to say something. "That is strange, you should have shifted that night, maybe it is because of how severe your injuries were, your wolf decided to wait a little longer." He looked at me knowing very well that I didn't understand anything he just said." What… wolf…?" I stuttered." Ameera, you…" He hovered before continuing. "You are a werewolf and for some reason, it might be the trauma you went through when you were 5 years old or it might just be you blocking your wolf out because you won't understand but at the age of 16 you should have started to hear your wolf." I was shocked, he made no sense, there were no such thing as werewolves. "Si… Shaw, you aren't making any sense. Werewolves what are they?" I waited patiently. "Ameera, they are half human and half wolf and can shift back and forth into either form and both the human and wolf have separate entities. Meaning they have two people inside of them, well one wolf and one human." He was dead serious as he explained. "I am not a werewolf Shaw I don't have another entity inside me." I responded with confidence.

"Yes, you are, Ameera, you just don't know it yet." He giggled and smiled at me. "Are you a werewolf?" I asked feeling immediately as stupid as the question itself." Yes, I am, and I am the King of the werewolves and you are my mate." I pulled my hand from his, the word mate alone sounded like trouble. Is he going to own me, or something? "Mate? Are you going to own me like a slave? Please sir, I don't want to be owned. What are you going to do to me?" I start ranting and pleading." Own is a strong word Ameera, please don't be frightened of me. Mates are werewolves chosen to be together by the Moon Goddess herself, a bond between two wolves that is stronger than anything and draws them to each other. A werewolf can only bare pups with their mates. You might not feel the bond now, it might be because your wolf has not emerged yet. I will give you time." He stands up and give me one last warm smile, but just before he leaves, he turns and says, "Oh and Ameera, I will never hurt you, you are my soulmate and neither will I force you to do anything you don't want to do, I care to much about you to hurt you in any way." And there he leaves me with all these question marks popping up in my mind.

I dosed off a while after that. Dreaming of the wolf I saw at the waterfall this time I was not in the water hiding I was standing as it approached me, I saw its eyes this time it was golden just like it's fur. It circled around me and rubbed its body against mine and I rubbed it head as it purred by my touch, I felt electric currents coursing through my fingertips where my skin made contact with it. As I was enjoying this delightful dream a voice came from somewhere. "Hi Ameera." I woke up with my body's bones cracking, I screamed in agony. Shaw came running in with another man. I heard Shaw saying to the man. "She is shifting, I need to get her outside." He picked me up from the bed gently and carried me outside walked me towards the woods.

"Ameera, you need to concentrate on your wolf it will be less painful if you fight it less." I look at him while I wince in pain and decided to listen to him and nodded. He placed me gently on the ground. I closed my eyes and thought of the voice I heard in my dreams. My bones broke and shifted and within a few seconds I was on four paws and looked around looking for Shaw. He stood there with his face plastered with a smile. He seemed pleased.

"She is a Lycan. "I growled and turn towards the voice that was hiding behind the trees. It is the man that came in earlier with Shaw. "Leave us Ronan. I am going to have a run with my mate." The man turns and leaves us alone. I turned back to Shaw and watched him get undressed and then jump up into the air and midair turned into the Golden wolf from my dreams. It was him that day at the waterfall, werewolves exist. He strode slowly towards me. 'Mate!' I hear a voice in my head it is a woman's voice. 'Hi, Ameera, I am Aya, so what do you think about how I look?'. I looked down at my fur, it was pure white. 'Wow' I thought and it seems she heard my thoughts. 'Aww, thank you, I am a Lycan. I want to show you something' I heard a giggle inside my head and then suddenly I started running, Shaw followed suit, it seems like he can't keep up with us. I was practically the same height and build as him but I was faster. We ran through the woods with Shaw, jumping and dodging trees, I was loving this feeling, I felt so free.
