Sneaking

I leave the call center and head back over to the holding cells. I don't know this police station very well but I'll search every nook and cranny to find Harris... even if it's just a body. As I'm heading to the cells, I pass the creepy hall once again and freeze.

I really feel like something's hanging around there... I bite my lip and turn to the cells. Normally, a cell-like door leading into the actual cells is kept locked but it too hangs open and unlocked. I walk past the door, careful not to touch it and make any noises as I slowly make my way into the holding cell area.

As I turn the corner, I finally see Harris. He and two others sit inside a holding cell. I look around the large area and try not to let the blinking lights bother me. When I don't see or sense anything, I slowly start walking over to the cell holding Harris.

When he looks up and our eyes lock, he jumps up but I quickly bring my finger up to my lips to tell him to be quiet. He nods his head and points up. I glance up and then nod, understanding. He's letting me know that whatever's in here, it's in the ceiling.

I kinda already figured that when I saw the hole in the ceiling earlier. I silently make my way over to the cell and stop next to Harris while checking my surroundings. "Tell me what the hell's happening here, Harris," I say in a soft whisper.

He leans close and says "A man came in... he was moving weird, ya know? And he didn't say anything. Just stood in the lobby, staring at the ladies up front when he suddenly snaps. He lunges at the woman but they jump back and scream."

"The boys up front warned the man to stand down but he didn't listen. They opened fire on the man but... he didn't even flinch. The thing crawls over the counter like some creepy human spider! Everything breaks out into chaos as more shots are fired and everyone starts running."

"The thing runs on all fours and tackles poor Jerry in the hall... he never had a chance...." Harris's eyes seem haunted as he relives the story but I try to keep my eyes on our surroundings as I ask "So you and these two locked yourselves into the cell to keep yourselves safe?"

Harris nods his head and says "It can't break into here... we tried to stop it but... but it's too fast and too strong. Our bullets do nothing against it." I slowly nod my head as I try to make sense of it. A man... an odd moving man.

Zombie? I bite my lip and wonder if a necromancer is somehow behind this or if it's something else. Could it be another possession?? "Please tell me you brought weapons this time.." Harris says with a worried look.

My frown deepens as I turn to him and ask "This is the Super Natural Police division, right? Aren't you supposed to have a few witches... or vampires? Shifters maybe??" He rubs his temples as he says "Jerry was a shifter."

My heart skips a beat as I think back to the hallway. My wide eyes find Harris' as I say "Jerry was a shifter... the one that is currently all over the hall?" Harris keeps a grave look on his face as he nods. I slowly close my eyes Shiiiiiiiiiit.

Then there's no way that it's a zombie... a shifter would have no problems handling a zombie. Suddenly, scratching noises can be heard coming from up above. We all look up in silence and wait with our breaths held.

When it stops, we all continue to silently wait. I slowly look over to the large desk on the other side of the room when I hear something. Harris and the other two follow my lead and look over to the large, empty desk when suddenly, a bloody mangled body falls through the ceiling and lands on top of the desk in a bloody mess!

I grit my teeth and force myself not to make a sound as a few pieces from the ceiling continue to fall. We all hold our breaths and wait... for what? I'm not entirely sure but I did not want whatever was up there to come down while I was unprepared.

Blood from the mangled body drips onto the cold floor below but the sound it makes sounds so much louder in our hushed silence. *Drip* *Drip* *Drip* but nothing else happens. I grit my teeth again and slowly start slipping my backpack around.

I slowly unzip the bag and pull out my enchanted blade along with a few marble-sized glass balls filled with a few deadly potions. I'm not entirely sure what this thing is but I can tell it's smart and now taunting us.

I zip my bag back up and slide it between the bars to Harris. He takes the bag as I give him a look but he suddenly starts shaking his head 'no' at me. I give him a bitter smile and nod before slowly walking over to the bloody mess.

The person was dead, no surprise there, so I look up at the bloody hole left in the ceiling. I take a deep breath and begin climbing up the desk, careful not to actually touch the body as I slowly stand. I glance at Harris one last time to see him waving his arms back and forth and shaking his head vigorously.

I give him another bitter smile and lift the blade up to my mouth. I bite the blade and reach up to the hole in the ceiling. I take a calming breath and jump. I pull myself up the rest of the way and quickly look around the dark space.

I pull my legs up and take the blade out of my mouth as I let my eyes adjust to the dim light. It's almost pitch black up here... I try to steady my breathing and listen. Thunder is suddenly heard and for the first time tonight, I feel like the odds may be against me.
