Training Begins

[8:00PM]

Exiting the restaurant, Jin led Roy into the Park, an amusement centre in the city where kids go for recreational activities. But to both of them, it became a training grounds.

After all the park always closes at 6:00PM sharp to avoid any unexplainable injuries or encounters with supervillains.

"Are you sure it's safe to train here? During the Night?" Roy said, with a bit of caution growing within him.

"It's fine, after all I'm here. Okay, the entrance exams into the academy is in two days. Considering you just awakened, you're currently at a huge disadvantage."

Realizing the load of work he has on his head, he sighed softly.

Jin was a kind person at heart, be it noble, royal or commoner, he wouldn't hesitate to take any under his wings and this was relevant for one reason only.

An individual's status becomes irrelevant when talking about heroism.

"Like I said earlier, commoner's like yourself for instance have a 5-10% chance of awakening a Soul-Core. But even if you do, they fall under Grade 1. However your case is entirely different and your Soul-Energy rivals that of some nobles."

"I'm sensing a but."

"But, those nobles commenced training since the moment they came of age, whereas you who awakened his Soul-Core at a very odd time has not." Jin added.

"So I lack experience." Roy said, summarizing the entirety of Jin's focus.

"Exactly, there's not even close to enough time to train you in terms of hand-to-hand combat, however we can make up for that lack of experience with honing your Soul-Energy and Soul-Techniques." Declaring their focus, they immediately commenced training.

"That technique of yours, what's it called again?"

"Um, I think the Electric-Burst." For some reason, Roy could remember the name of the Soul-Technique he utilized subconsciously.

"The Electric-Burst huh, I like it. Currently there are two flaws with your Electric-Burst technique. The first one, you take too long to build it up. Even with his Supernova technique, Yoichi is just a Grade 2 Soul-User, and most of the contestants are always royals from around the world meaning they will be faster and stronger than him." Jin said, pointing out the first flaw .

"The second flaw is your poor mastery over your Soul-Energy, you might have noticed in your fight with Yoichi. The Electric-Burst technique left nothing but a scorch mark on him, it wasn't because it was weaker than him, but the concentration of your Soul-Energy was far too poor. So for the next two days, we'll be working on building and concentrating your Soul-Energy and harnessing them into your technique. Get into a meditative position and try building up your Soul-Energy."

"Understood." Roy replied.

Adhering to his instructions, he sat on the ground with his legs crossed and his fingers resting on them while alligned.

"Now concentrate." Jin said.

Inhaling and exhaling repeatedly, Roy channelled all the Soul-Energy he could muster and slowly it began rising to the surface. It didn't take long before his body became engulfed in blue energy.

As time progressed, his energy sent tremors through the ground and eventually caused minor vibrations throughout the park.

Jin became highly impressed, however the more appropriate term would be stunned. "Roy Hiroto, a commoner who's able to build up this much Soul-Energy? No matter how many times I witness it it's still hard to digest. There's something more to this kid that I can't just wrap my head around." He thought.

Forcing his eyes open instantly, the blue energy which surrounded his body dissipated swiftly.

"Now, build an Electric-Burst for me." Jin demanded, in haste to determine just how well Roy could utilize the Soul-Technique.

Getting to his feet, Roy stretched his right hand forward in front of him and took a deep breathe.

"Electric Soul-Core: Electric-Burst."

A blue ball of energy spiralled in his right palm and gradually, sparks of electricity rotated around the ball of energy.

"Good, now concentrate. Infuse all that Soul-Energy you built up into your Soul-Technique." Jin instructed.

"AARR." Attempting to infuse the built up Soul-Energy into the [Electric-Burst], he struggled greatly as the stability of the Soul-Technique began fluctuating. The more he infused the built up Soul-Energy into it, the more stronger and unstable the technique became.

Eventually, the [Electric-Burst] dispersed as Roy was unable to maintain it's current shape. A mild explosion resulted from it's dispersion, driving Roy backwards on the cold and hard ground.

"I knew it wouldn't be easy, after all mastery of something as rare as electricity is not a simple task. One must focus on maintaining it's shape while infusing enough Soul-Energy to power it up. This requires complete mastery of Soul-Energy manipulation and intense levels of concentration." Jin thought to himself.

Roy groaned slightly, his right palm was scorched slightly by the explosion which occurred a few centimeters above his palm. He stood to his feet, determined not to give up. After all if he couldn't get past this stage, he had no chances of getting through the first phase of the exams.

"Again."

Retaining his previous stance, Roy attempted infusing strong amounts of Soul-Energy into the [Electric-Burst] technique. This time, he maintained it for five seconds but unfortunately the results were the same.

"Come on young Roy, you still have some fight left in you don't you? Again." Jin said, attempting to motivate and encourage him to keep going.

"Hmph." Grunting slightly, Roy maintained the same stance as before and attempted the technique again. This time, he held out for 15 seconds.

"AAARRR!" Yelling at the top of his voice, he infused more and more Soul-Energy into the Soul-Technique which expanded the size of the [Electric-Burst] from small to medium.

However,

A disruption in flow of energy into the technique due to Roy's injuries from earlier caused Jin's eyes to expand slightly. It had gone out of control and the consequences could be fatal. In a flash, Jin utilized his inhuman speed and appeared right in front of Roy.

Swooping the young teen off his feet, he jumped backwards just before Roy's technique exploded, taking a portion of the trees in the park with it.

"Alright, that's enough for today." Jin said putting an end to the training before things could escalate.
