Chapter 7

Her heart beat erratically through her chest as it felt as though a bucket of ice had been oohrwd over her. She felt her body tremble as she struggled to come up with the words to say. She wanted to tell him that it wasn't true but she found herself unable to say anything.

There were five immortals out there that were soon going to be intent on hunting her down.

"Well what does that mean? What are you going to do with me now". She asked him shakily.

She knew that she still couldn't trust him. But she was going to have to take her chances with him as opposed to taking it with any of the others.

"I have decided to take you in. Because despite you being a pain . I think I may need to protect you from them. If they do learn about you the world will break out into war with five of us on opposite sides and you as the trophy to be won." He said.

Rica narrowed her eyes at his words feeling as though he wasn't entirely telling her the truth of what was going on.

"Fine. I was called upon by the moon goddess and she ordered me to protect you no matter what." He said to her in a grumbled tone.

She couldn't help but chuckle at his words as she shook her head slightly.

"wow. Well I guess that it isn't you that I should be thanking for the protection. I owe my life to the moon goddess and not you." She said to him.

"That is besides the point now you need to come along with me. Before you end up eating from any of the other bushes." He neutered.

She heard a playful undertone in his words and she wondered what had changed overnight to cause him to act this way.

"Wait, I didn't even ask. What is your name?" She called out to him.

She watched as he sucked in a deep breath before he slowly turned around to face her. His eyes flashed that familiar shade of yellow as he snickered.

"My name is rage." He said to her with a wink.

She gulped . She didn't want to think about how he had gotten that name and how it fit him very well seeing his personality. She tried to convince herself that most likely he had said to her to get a reaction out of her.

"Why couldn't I have ended up with joy or love?" She muttered under her breath.

"Well you ended up with lust and remember how that turned out for you." He said.

She gritted her teeth in respoNse to his njab but she decided it was best for her not to say anything else. She wasn't about to let him see how hurt she was by his words.

"I feel as though this is going to be quite an unbearable interaction for the both of us." She said to him.

He let out a sigh from his lips as he hummed at her intently.

They made their way through the forest together and he was relieved when she didn't say anything more.

The last thing that he wanted or needed was to be forced to come back here for the girl. She was trouble as well as a distraction to him. One that he didn't need.

He liked his isolation. It allowed him to think more clearly about everything. And because of that he hadn't had visitors in a century that is until this girl appeared.

When she had told him what she claimed his brother was doing to her he refused to believe her. H they may not have seen each other for a long time but he and lost were always the closest out of all of his siblings and he just couldn't fathom the thought of lust becoming such a cruel man.

He knew that she was the offspring of a Hunter and he knew how manipulative they were known to be ths was the main reason why he didn't want to be around others.

He was certain that she had something else tucked up her sleeve that she was simply not letting him know about.

But once the moon goddess gave a declaration you had mom's choice but to follow through with it. He hated it nevertheless. But he knew well that there was nothing that he could have done.

He could only hope that she would get the idea and do her best to stay as far away from him as possible.

They soon came to the front of the large castle. The once formidable structure was now covered in veins and had moss growing around the tiles.

"Well this is interesting". She said to herself in a mutter under her breath. He only shrugged his shoulders at her in response because in truth her opinion of it was of no concern to him.

She watched as he pulled open the set of heavy double doors before allowing her to step inside of the room.

Her faze flouted towards the large ballroom but was pulled out of her thoughts when he grabbed a hold of her hand.

"By the order of the moon goddess you must stay here. And for your protection I must do something". He said to her firmly.

She looked towards him in confusion as she wondered why.

He pushed back a few strange of her hair pulling them away from her face as he smirked before inhaling her scent.

"I must mark you."
