"My eye!! My fucking eye!!"

I enter the clearing just in time to hear Calli cry out. His left hand was pressed flat against the eye as blood trickled down his face. He was standing in front of the cell and the human thief was backed against the wall of his cell. His eyes wide as he stared at the muscled man crying in front of his cell.

"What the hell happened?"

This was not what I was expecting. I was relieved that the blood I perceived was not coming from the human but that also confused me. A torturer could not just get injured in the eye in the hands of a human.

"I will kill him. Open this cage and i will kill him." Calli threatened, his hand still pressed against his eyes.

"You should get that treated." I say.

"Forget that. He had the guts to hurt me, he will suffer for it."

I blink at the human with a burst of surprise. A human managed to over power a beta? How is that even possible?

"Guards." I call out.

They scurry to where I stand.

"Get Calli checked."

"M. I have to torture him. That is the only way I can regain my dignity."

I look at his pleading right eye and the bleeding left one. Whatever he used must have been really sharp, the cut was clean.

"I promise you." I say for the heck of It, although his family would revolt if I didn't let him.

He bowed again before letting the guards lead him out. My eyes fall on the table where Calli was suppose to lay out his tools. He had not laid any of them out.

"You are full of surprises for a thief."

His eyes snap to me and the shock from earlier disappeared, he suddenly had that stupid excessive confident look on his face again.

"I guess your hulk was not hulking today."

I was tired of talking with this man. It has been a long day for me and i wanted him to leave, disappear from my sight. Out if sight out of mind, if I never saw him again, then I won't have to remember that he was the mate assigned to me.

"What did you do to Calli?"

"Who is Calli?" from the expression on his face he knew who Calli was but he was playing with me.

"You did yourself wrong thief, he was the kindest torturer we have."

He pokes his lower lip out like he was a sulking child.

"And here I thought you were the kindest."

I rub my palms across my face. If it were somebody else in this cage, I would have already gotten my answer. Unfortunately I was wired to never harm him. Personally. So of course, I have to deal with all his antics.

"Tell me what you did to Calli."

He shrugged as if we were talking about casual things like the weather.

"Nothing much. Just used this pretty ring. To be fair, I never used it before so I never knew would work."

He showed me a ring on his finger that had a tiny blade in It, he had to twist it to retract the blade. Without thinking I pull on the ring, removing it from his finger. Within the two seconds that our skin came in contact with each other, I felt zaps of electricity bursts.

"What was that?" Grace asked me in a hushed whisper. She liked it.

It felt good, but I take a step back, creating distance between us so I didn't get the urge to touch him again.

"Now that, this is out of the way. I guess you will be happy to meet Calli again."

His grin slipped for a few seconds before he grinned again.

"He is all talk."

"like you.?" I ask with raised brows.

He threw his head back, shaking with mirth.

"Touche Princess. Touche.."

"Just.. give me the crown and we will go our separate ways." I try again.

He shook his head. The annoying grin still in place.

"You know I can't do that."

I open my mouth to say something when I hear Calli's voice come back into the cell.

"Guess who is back and ready for your bullshit?" he hollered.

"I tried my best." I tell Grace.

"He has to tap out on his own."

Calli's eyes was wrapped in gauze that went around his head. Other than that, he looked his normal torture thirsty self. I bet the doctor's told him to rest but he ran straight here.

"Ah, the one eyed man came out of kid's nightmares. I'm so scared." The human thief mocked.

"Don't worry, it will be every bit as painful as promised earlier." Calli grinned, with one eye it seemed even scarier. But the human thief who had no powers didn't look scared at all.

"You have been tortured before." I think out loud.

The thief's eyes fall on me. And I know I'm right. The scar above his brow was not from when he fell as a kid. He was tortured before so he is not scared of this one. Unless he has been tortured by any of Calli s family, he has no idea what could happen to him.

Calli brandished some kind of metal contraption that I had seen him use time and again. I never thought of how it affected the victim. Only how the answer I needed came about.

"Care to open the door? M?" Calli asked me.

I felt the air around me get tighter. I refused to look him in the eye lest I give it all up. After all, it was just instinct, I didn't know him enough to want to protect him. But I knew my people enough to want to protect them. With this mind I unlock the cell.

"let's play." Calli said grinning.

I tear my eyes away from what was going on, it didn't help anybody when I watched so I fix my gaze on the stone walls that were built decades before me.

"Princess, it seems everybody in your gang are into kinky stuff. Exactly my style."

Grace whimpered at the sound of the metal locks snapping into place. For once I wish Calli used his powers instead of metals like he was an animal of some sort.

"here comes the fun part."

I don't stand there anymore. I force myself to walk away. Before I stopped It, I stopped myself.

My phone vibrated in my pockets. Grateful for the distraction, I see that it is Erin.

"What did you find?"

He doesn't say anything about my opening question.

"The guy is the slimiest one out there. Escaped the law so many times. He did all kinds of stuff except murder but he always got away."

I sighed. That's not what I was expecting to black mail him with.

"I found a lot of things but I should not bore you with those. There is one interesting thing I found."

That piqued my interest.

"What is It? Can I blackmail him with It?"

"Definitely.. it's huge."
