#Chapter39 Mom

The next morning Audrey woke up from a dreamless sleep, stretching out her stiff limbs. Then it clicked in her mind.

Putting on her fuzzy sleep slippers she quickly jogged downstairs. Her heart was beating fast.

Just as she reached the end of- the stairs she called out for her mom.

/"Mom! Mom!/" she called out but received no answer.

Maybe they are still asleep she thought.

Hopes high.

She made her way to the room allotted to Rosalind and Dave.

However, the door was wide open and the room was empty.

She quickly rushed downstairs as a last resort and looked out from the window to the driveway from where the cars could usually be seen.

Nevertheless, she couldn't sight Dave's broke down car anywhere.

They left.

Her mother left with the money.

Once again she had chosen her own selfish desires over her children.
