The Demand

A customer had given Cristy an ass slap, and Cristy couldn't believe it. She had been troubled by the jerk she was serving for the better part of the day. Despite her repeated rejection of him, he continued to smack her ass as if he had any legal claim to do so.

Cristy had whirled around to kick him in the rear when a deafening roar echoed through the restaurant. Her arms started to develop those annoying goose bumps as the pack froze solid. She whirled around and saw William creeping up on the guy. She noticed that his arms were thicker than she remembered.

William planted a kiss on Cristy lips. When he put his hand on her, the slap no longer hurt. She was unable to understand. When Cristy finally caught a glimpse of his eyes, she saw that they were noticeably darker than usual. With a snarl on his face, William turned away. And Cristy knows that's not the normal William. There was no sign of him. This was the first time Cristy saw him that way.

Both Darwin and Mike wasted no time in racing to her side. Lawrence walked along them at a leisurely pace.

"Bring her at my house. I just need to finish this," William declared.

She blinked in confusion and asked, "What? That's enough, William; they aren't worth it." Cristy reached out and tried to pull him in. But instead William gave her to Lawrence and Darwin.

"Please, just take her," William said.

They held her arms and escorted her out of the restaurant. Mike grabbed Lily as he was leaving. The only patrons in the restaurant were the pack and the human who had angered the leader.

"I didn't mean for any of this to happen," Cristy said.

Despite Lily's fear, they proceeded on their way to William's house. A hush fell over the group of men.

Mike announced, "I'm going to bring Lily home."

"Okay, I'll take care of our queen, so don't worry." The strength of Darwin's arm around her increased.

Cristy let out a sigh as she stared at the man who was supporting her.

Embracing Cristy, Lily said softly, "I'll call you."

When Cristy saw her friend leave with Mike, it hurt her a lot. William kicked Cristy out of the restaurant. She refused to give any thought to the situation.

Darwin deemed it to be sufficient. The door to William's house was opened for both of them. Cristy remembered, the time when she woke up in the next floor after William bit her, they were already there. Darwin released her but then barricaded the door.

"Is Lily will be okay?" Cristy pondered this while she sat on the side of the bed.

"Mike will protect and care for her, that much is certain. Nothing he does will ever be intended to cause your friend any harm."

"He'll want to sleep with Lily," Cristy said.

"This means she will experience a lot of fun. As far as we know, Mike has never lodged a complaint about anything. It has been remarked by females that he speaks with a divine tongue."

Cristy glared at him with her arms crossed over her chest. "Do you always act this way?"

"What you mean?"

"Horrible in taste and appearance."

Darwin cracked an amused grin. "When asked who we are, we tell you straight up. If it makes us look offensive to you, Cristy, you had well get accustomed to it. Since you are our queen, you must interact with us all."

Cristy cast her gaze downward to her hands. "I've never seen William… react like that before," she said.

"It looked like his beast was taking charge. William has the most self-control out of all of us. But the person touched what was rightfully his, he doesn't likes it," Darwin said in response. Cristy saw him sit down beside the entrance and he stared at her thoughtfully.

"Is your inner wolf always there?"

"Have a look into my eyes if you want."

As Darwin turned, the piercing blue in his eyes transformed into fiery amber. Cristy jumped right back onto the bed and pulled her knees up to her chest.

"As for your question, I can tell you that the wolf is a part of us. There is absolutely no way to prevent this. Any measure of command is better than none at all."

"Have any of you ever lost control?" Cristy questioned, recalling William.

"Despite his want to tear the creature to bits, William was still in charge."

Cristy shook as the memory of the snarl from his lips returned to her. When she felt a hand on her rear, she knew that trouble was on the way. William finds that kind of thing totally unacceptable.

"What do you think he's planning on that guy in the restaurant?" Cristy asked Darwin.

"Perhaps you don't want to know."

Her eyes welled up with tears, but she refrained from pressing the issue with William.

"You've startled me," Darwin said.

"Why?"

"It was to be expected that you would talk constantly."

Behind her knee, she looked at him and asked, "Why?"

"This is due to the fact that I am a wolf and I work with your mate. You might say that I am a walking, talking encyclopedia of my field, but you aren't asking any questions that would help you out."

"There's no use in even asking if you're not going to answer."

Darwin was shaking his head sadly. "But doesn't mean that I can't answer any additional questions."

As Cristy thought of a question to ask him, she nodded.

"What's with you guys only running when the moon is full?" Cristy asked.

"The norm. William's dad started it before he died away, and William has kept it going. We may adjust our schedule to meet your needs at any time during the month. The moon's werewolf howls, and we welcome it with open arms. The moon's allure comes from its magnetic pull. Some men have stubbornly refused to revert back to human form."

"Do they still identify as werewolves?"

"Yes. The more I think about it, the more I realize that I love my thing too much to remain a wolf. I enjoy being a human being in many ways. I'm looking forward to talking to you and seeing how ashamed you are to be on the list."

While Cristy laughing at Darwin's jokes, she rubbed her cheeks and grinned.

"I take life very seriously, as you can see, Cristy. There's absolutely nothing to be concerned about. William and I should be worry about you."

"There's absolutely no reason for worry on your part."

Sighing, Darwin shrugged. "To put it simply, I worry. It's within us."

"Do you drink blood? Cristy inquired.

"No, we eat the meat uncooked if we are in a werewolf form. Despite the fact that we are in charge during the transition, the beast is still present and must be fed."

As Cristy was ready to ask Darwin a follow-up question, the door of the house opened, echoing throughout the house. William had come back.
