Flashback

When William laid his soft body against Cristy's, he melted. As he stroked her hair, William relished the sensation of the soft strands slipping between his fingers. The pressure of her chest on his chest was crushing. He was tortured by her innocent scent. He was solely interested in slamming her against the nearest tree and sleep with her. He had so many plans for her. Instead, he chose to keep his lips shut and not say anything.

He made her nervous about him. In the end, she merely glanced his way for an extremely little period of time. Mike kept a close eye on William as she danced with Cristy's friend.

It was an experience that William will never forget. William gazed down at her as Cristy lay face down on his chest.

"Do you go on the hunt?" Cristy asked.

"This isn't the case tonight, as we've left to take advantage of the strength of the full moon instead."

As he glanced up at the full moon, he felt a surge of electricity coursing through his body.

"What is it like to go out and hunt for things?" Cristy queried. Her voice sounded familiar to him since he had heard it before.

"With you, I don't think it's a good idea to talk about hunting."

"Why?"

"We've taken care of deer and rabbits and other small game in the past."

"That's exactly right. I'd prefer not to be kept up to date."

He chuckled. Suddenly, the song's pace picked up. William threw her into a spin before squeezing her close. Cristy laughed.

Cristy kept her eyes fixed on his chest, her gaze never straying from it. It was much more satisfying to witness her giggle throughout the process. William was adamant on keeping her. Dancing with her was a natural fit. At the edge of the dance floor, he received a signal from Daniel, Cristy's father. He slowed down the dance to get closer to Lily.

Mike gave him a fierce glare as he approached. William said, "We have to."

While cradling Cristy's face, he kissed her forehead. She gave him a short glance before refocusing her attention to Lily.

"Don't leave the square, and just dance with Lily," he instructed them both.

Cristy nod. Mike had to leave the dance floor since he need to follow William.

"Cristy doesn't looking at your eyes?" Mike was perplexed. William shifted his gaze away from his friend. "In actuality, she doesn't. Do you have any idea what's going on?"

"I can ask Lily. My attractiveness has piqued her interest."

"Is she not your mate, yet?" William had a question when Lawrence and Darwin joined them.

"No, she isn't my mate. Despite our mutual attraction, there is nothing between us. There's nothing like the experience you had with Cristy." Mike answered.

Seeing his three companions, William was pleased to know that he had picked the ideal alpha males to be around him.

William approached Daniel and sat down. One of the men had his chin bent. "I requested access to the lodgings where your guests will be staying in the future weeks so that I could do an inspection."

All four men were following Daniel. In order to keep the lodgings out of sight from the town, they were located far enough away and surrounded by trees. No one would go so far out of town unless they had a dying wish.

Daniel had given him the key. "This land belongs to you. It is necessary for the vampires to be invited in because they are prohibited from entering designated territory."

"You've been doing your research," Darwin said.

"As a getaway from the city and an opportunity to study more what I had seen, I traveled to Dim Forest. Things that go bump in the night intrigue me. I want to share all I know with you and my alpha." Daniel added. "Anna, my wife had been brainwashed by a vampire. Cristy invited the vampire into our house, and the vampire nearly killed her and my wife." William clenched his hands as the gravity of the threat to his mate dawned on him.

Daniel was able to kill the vampire who had come dangerously close to killing his daughter and his wife.

When it came to welcoming new families and reacting to human needs, Darwin was in charge. As a result of Cristy and her mother's link to the vampires, Darwin made careful to obliterate their memories. Because of their fragility, human minds are vulnerable to the effects of exhaustion. His men didn't want to take any chances with the family when they were being transported to Dim Forest. William didn't pay much heed to Darwin's memories of the arrival of a human family in their community. Eventually, he'd get to hear the whole story tonight. His partner's safety was of the utmost importance to him.

In the luxurious mansion, William opens the door and stepped inside.

"Plenty of room for the witches and warlocks to spread their wings. The bears have exclusive use of the large rooms with heavy doors. Bears aren't well known for being able to maintain control over themselves during the changing seasons, according to my research." Daniel stated, "I made certain to accommodate them."

William could tell that his comrades were following him as he made his way through each location.

"The cellar is where the vampires' quarters will be. Every door in town has a cross attached, as I made certain to do. From my readings, I've learnt that certain elderly vampires don't need an invitation; a cross is all they need."

William nod. He patted the man on the back. "I am aware that you have a fear of vampires. This meeting is critical for the survival of the human race as a whole. We've been getting together annually for a long time."

William is not the only alpha in the world. That his pack was protected was due to the arrangements he had made with witched and warlock alike. Other packs were less lucky.
