Curiosity

A few days later, William watched the river in silence. Every night, he'd slept next to his Cristy and hadn't done anything but hug her in his arms. Mike, Lawrence, and Darwin were getting ready for the arrival of the other creatures at Dim Forest. In addition to the anticipated visit, people had also strayed into their town. The only hotel that could accommodate them at the time was where they were staying. They being in his town or close to his friend bothered him. One of the group members was quite interested in Cristy. She didn't support him, but she also didn't undermine the other man.

Every time he tried to speak with Darwin before the other sections arrived, he was cut off. William's human mate was put aside for the conference, which bothered him while he was thinking it. Although Cristy was human, she was his partner. He had issued Lara way too many warnings, and she was now investigating him.

"Why are you alone in this place, William? Darwin enquired as he left the clearing. "You shouldn't be alone right now since it's not safe."

"Why is it not secure? I am the leader."

"And more of a motivation to kill you so that someone else can take over the Dim Forest." Darwin, who was standing next to him, remarked, "You're only as powerful as your last enemy."

"You seem so serious all the time." With his feet in the water, William sat down at the edge of the river.

"I have to be." Darwin joined him in edge of the river. "Do you wish to speak with me?"

"Yes, I'd like to learn everything about Cristy's family. You were in charge of managing her petition, right?"

Darwin swore. "Cristy's father arrived at my door smelling like vampire blood. I'm not sure how he discovered me, but he did on one of my visits to the city. He spoke to me about this neighborhood. He is an excellent book and knowledge collector."

"I am aware of this. Why did he have vampire blood all over him?" William inquired.

"His wife fell for a vampire's seduction. Cristy's father had no idea what the vampire valued in his wife's possession. She was almost dead when I reached her. In order to aid in her healing, I gave her some of my blood, and I got crazy witch to deal with the enchantment that erased their memories. The oldest which was Lily. When she was little, warlocks had tortured her, which had made her slightly insane. She was strong, albeit she ranting a little over nothing."

William inquired, "What happened to Cristy?"

"None of us are aware. Although she was bitten, it didn't kill her. Before anything else happened, Cristy's father murdered the vampire. "

"They're here under our watch, right?" William inquired.

"The vampire was killed by Cristy's father, but we could recognize our emblems on his arms." Darwin gestured at his arms and back. The Dim Forest pack emblems were present on all of the males. He thinks they belonged to some sort of tribe.

"Is that why he has so many books?"

"Yes. He hasn't found anything of any value recently, according to our conversation. He is agitated after this meeting."

William remarked, letting his shoulders relax, "I suppose this meeting has the whole pack worked up."

After some time, Darwin stated, "You know your scent will fade if you don't claim her soon.

"I know."

They rose and walked out of the woods. William moved in the direction of the diner. The community was being hit hard by the summer heat. With Darwin's words still in his thoughts, he followed the scent of his mate to the restaurant. Even though he desperately wanted to take her home and claim her, he couldn't bring himself to do so in light of the approaching species from the Otherworld. He already had so much on his plate that adding a human partner to the mix wasn't on his list of priorities.

As soon as he entered the restaurant, he noticed both of the human males seated in the corner. Serving Lawrence, and Mike. Cristy was in the same corner as the male humans. She was noting their instructions. Cristy didn't look at William or make any other attempt to acknowledge him. She was the center of his entire existence, but he received no reward for his efforts. William sat down by yanking out the chair, drawing her attention and that of everyone else in the café. He listened in on one of the boys' conversation using his superb hearing. He objected to calling the people "men."

One of the men commented, "Wow, he's a little childish."

"Is that it, then?" Cristy inquired.

She pointed to the list of meals she had jotted down as William watched.

"It certainly is, baby."

Cristy walked away while nodding. William witnessed the person who had been speaking to her inspect her behind.

He was asked by one of his friends, "Dude, what are you doing?"

"I want to get laid if we stay here for a while."

"We won't be staying here."

The friend's were obviously aware that they weren't welcome here. It was unfortunate that stupid didn't feel the same way as his friends did.

As Cristy attempted to walk past him, William grabbed her arm and pulled her close to him. She shrieked. Cristy's eyes met his before she abruptly turned away. William was starting to lose his cool over Cristy's lack of interest to him.

She needed to be aware of William at all times.

"William, I'm at work," she said.

"You're not using that table," William demand. "Hire someone else to complete it."

"This is what I do! Working at the table and talking with the customers." As she walked by, William's hands smoothed her skirt.

Mike referred to her as "a fierce one."

"Fine! but those boys are fucking dead if they keep trying to touch you or talk trash about you!" William warned.
