AN: Our Lady of the blue lantern, adorn your fair hands with lovely silks and satin for they best disguise the filth of the blood tainting them.
A pale skinned woman stumbled through the hallway of the hospital. She was in a pale blue staff uniform, her short bob cut looked unruly, whilst the eyebags under her black eyes were clear as day. She looked hungry and unhealthily thin.

As she trekked through the hallway, she looked like a serious wind might knock her down let alone a human. She clutched the purse hung on her shoulder tightly then squeezed the handle of the packed food in her other hand.

Her black eyes stopped at a ward that had WARD 5 on it. She peeked through see-through glass, her eyes flicking past the three females surrounding the make resting on the bed. She sighed before pushing the door open and entering the room.

"Gangly is finally here," spoke one of the females beside the man laying on the hospital bed.

This woman was thin but did not look unhealthy. She had a sexy slender figure, with straight legs she was not stingy with as she showed them out in her black short skirt. She eyed the black eyed woman with her brown eyes.

"Gangly", was the word Tabitha Rinkles had opted to call her since first year of college, claiming it resonated well with her unhealthily thin figure. The brown eyed lady was Tabitha's best friend– Dakota Fredrick.

The other woman next to Dakota was much chubbier than she was, with blonde hair similar to Tabitha's, pretty blue eyes, and a large tattoo of a green snake on her neck. This one was Lalita Manova, instead of speaking she, as usual stared straight into Savannah's black eyes with a searching desire in her blue eyes.

Tabitha on the other hand scuffed, narrowing her sky blue at Savannah. "What the hell took you so long Gangly? My brother insisted on waiting for you to bring him food instead of eating."

Savannah's fingers shook, a cold feeling crawled on her stomach, and her jaw seemed blocked from speaking back to Tabitha.

She wanted to say, her co-worker had an emergency today which was why she had to step in for her co-worker. Being a janitor at Service.Co was difficult enough, then doing two shifts, she nearly collapsed when running back home to cook for her boyfriend before running back to the hospital.

But these words did not come out. She was late, she should have worked faster, she should not have been so lazy and ran faster, she should not have been so stingy and paid for a taxi to get to the hospital fast enough.

Stupid! Why can't you do anything right? A cold and emotionless voice shrieked into her ears.

Her heart raced faster knowing she was wrong.

"Let her be Tabitha, I'm sure she did her best to get here fast enough, right Savannah?" Timothy said from the comfort of the bed.

This was Timothy Rinkles, who was Tabitha's brother as well as the man Savannah had caught cheating on her the day he had a near death accident.

Savannah nodded, her fingers trembling and her eyes looking left and right on the ground.

"Next time do better okay? Look you're out this late and our home is left alone, you know how terrible that neighborhood is? I don't know why you won't do as I say and get us a better house in a nicer neighborhood." Timothy clicked his tongue, his equally sky blue eyes looking at her in disappointment.

Savannah's fingers shook harder. She was wrong again. Why did she leave the house alone? Why could she put in more work and pay for a better house in a nicer neighborhood? She had been working her fingers to the bone to afford the current house she and Timothy stayed in, even though there were cheaper apartments they could rent.

No, she was wrong, she should work harder, if working her fingers to the bone wasn't enough to get a better house then she would work tooth and nail.

Stupid! Do better! Again said the cold and emotionless voice.

"Now place the food on the table, Savannah," Timothy said to her, paying no mind to Dakota who was casually rubbing his head.

She nodded stiffly, dragging her tired legs to the table to drop the meal when her weak bones lost feeling for a split second and the food slipped from her hand, the entire thing landing on the ground and the food cooked with so much effort splattered on the ground.

Savannah gasped, not because of the food that was ruined on the ground but the assault of a metal tissue container slammed against her forehead. The initial shock slowly receded and what came next was the sharp pain from the container that had hit her head.

She finally raised her black eyes at the perpetrator. Tabitha jolted her eyebrows as if questioning Savannah what she would do about the hit on the head.

"Tabitha!" Timothy shouted. "I am so sorry Savannah, you should leave, Tabitha needs to calm down."

Savannah's eyes landed on his lips. The words were translucent, almost illusionary written on his lips. Stupid bitch. It was not sorry he intended to say but stupid bitch.

Her fingers shuddered and she swallowed.

Stupid! Can't do anything right!

She dropped her eyes back on the ground. "S-so sorry!" She whispered-yelled, before dashing out from the ward.

Her breathing was heavy as she leaned against the wall, chest rising and falling, fingers trembling viciously.

She noticed how dark the hallway of the hospital was as she stepped. She shook her head and tried to regather her thoughts.

She dragged her legs to leave the hospital. Her pale face sheened with sweat gathered from fear and anxiety. She swallowed once more, making her way through the hallway.

Her lips twitched seeing the lights flicker for a moment. She paid no mind to the lights as it was common around her. She ignored the chill from behind her, and the ghastly breeze that sighed into her ears.

She walked like a reanimated dead body through the hallway, ignoring the feeling of a stalking figure from behind her. The flickering light finally shut down completely, leaving the hallway utterly dark.

She snapped her neck back instinctively, and spontaneously the lights came back on. She jolted, shocked to see someone behind her.

Lalita stood expressionless with something in her clutches. Slowly a smile that looks far too flawless to be real appeared on her light oval face.

"Here, you left this behind," she easily grabbed Savannah's hands and put the lunchbox Savannah registered was empty into her hands.

Savannah, recovering from her shock, blinked. "T-thank you," she replied.

Lalita gave a curt nod.

Savannah, unaware of what else to say, began walking away, that was until she heard Lalita say slowly. "It'll unfortunately be a long night." Lalita sighed.
