Wu Yun brings up the baby, sometimes, to test the waters with Lan Tian. As soon as he agrees, he knows the clearing will provide for them.

"Would you like to have a daughter or a son?" Wu Yun asks, while they're outside under a mellow sun, tilling the fields.

Lan Tian gives him a knowing look, but one of the corner's of his lips curls up. "Why are you asking?"

Wu Yun shrugs. "It's good to know these things."

"We can't have a baby, Wu Yun, you read the books," Lan Tian says, he doesn't sound particularly disappointed about it, but Wu Yun thinks he's accepting the fact way too easily. "Maybe we could have adopted, but it's not as if there's anyone else in sight."

He spreads out his arms to point out the evident lack of people. "Speaking of which...doesn't that strike you as odd?"
