(Damian POV)
"So we aren't mutants?" MJ asked.
"No. Each mutant has its own unique ability. Besides, even if you all had the mutant gene, it's inactive in most people. Jean, for example, has an inactive mutant gene." I explained.
"How do you know that Jean's an inactive mutant?" Gwen asked, genuinely curious.
"Remember Emma?" I asked.
"Ah yeah, the hot blonde" Peter quipped before reflexively ducking under a slap attempt by MJ, who looked just as surprised that he dodged as Peter did.
I smiled, seeing the spider-sense in real time was kind of cool. "Yeah, she's a mutant too. I had her look into the mutant gene with the resources of Luciel Holdings. We discovered that the gene, for some reason, is inactive in most people who have it.
Sam, for example, is also a mutant, but not any of you or Alex. Interestingly, Liz Allen Flash's girlfriend also has the gene and is inactive." I stated.
"How did you get all of their information?" Peter asked.
"It was the blood drive, right?" Gwen said, narrowing her eyes at me.
"You mean when Luciel Holdings started the National Blood Drive last year? Didn't they say that a new technology to transform all blood types into type a universal donor was being revealed and they were trying to overstock all the hospitals in the country?" MJ asked.
Peter looked at me aghast. "Damian! Did you collect everyone's information back then!?!"
I shook my hands in front of me in defense. "Don't worry, I deleted all of the information afterward. It was a request from the government to see what percentage of the population was mutants." I lied.
The government DID want that information, but since I prevented 9/11 from happening in this world, they couldn't go all Patriot Act on me to steal the information. About 1% of the population has the gene in their DNA. That puts the estimated number of mutants in the US at ~3,000,000. Thankfully, only a fraction of that actually have the gene active at birth or in their lifetimes. Shockingly, however, the Inhuman Gene makes up around .02% of the population, meaning there are roughly 60,000 Inhumans on earth right now.
I could awaken them all now, but I feel like the time isn't right. I'll do it later on, as I truly believe humanity NEEDs mutants and inhumans to be the norm because if something ever happens to me, then after this generation of heroes, I don't know how they'd deal with entities like Galactus coming to face them down or alien invasions. There have been hundreds of generations without a Franklin Richards or a Damian Luciel to protect them, there may be thousands more without us, so humanity needs to adapt if it wants to survive.
Well, there that and that I don't want to have to babysit them.
The three of them gave me a dirty look for a second before looking at each other and finally giving up.
"Alright, we'll talk about the moral implications of that later. Right now, we need to worry about, well. THIS!" Peter said as he picked up the coffee table in the living room with his pinky.
"I see. It seems you lot have been given some kind of superpowers. Their exact nature and limits have yet to be determined..." I said, putting on an act and faking like I was thinking something hard.
"I have a lab nearby. We can run some more tests there if you don't want to be destroying the furniture." I commented.
Peter blushed and gently put the coffee table down before nodding at me in agreement. Gwen also gave a nod and MJ went pale, realizing all of the things that were broken by them as they walked down the hall earlier. There was a broken vase, her busted desk, a hole in the wall, and large cracks in the hardwood in her room.
"I'm going to be grounded for life when my parents get home!" MJ declared.
"Don't worry, I'll send someone to clean it up quickly. Nearly infinite money for the win." I said with a wink.
Gwen rolled her eyes. "What kind of lab is it?" She asked.
"Well remember when I said I found out Eve, Jean, and I were mutants?" I asked, to which they all nodded. "Well, let's just say I nerded out a little too hard."
I was totally lying about this. I'd purchased the entire warehouse district where I initially trained and met Death. I used most of the warehouses to store my goodies. Everything from concept cars and bikes to a Qunijet. I also created various other things when I was bored such as a few Noble Phantasms and even a Stargate, which I kept there, just in case Emma ever needed something like that for whatever reason.
I pulled out my phone and gave Emma a call.
"Hello, kid boss. Miss me that much?" Emma teased. It hadn't even been a day since we last spoke in person after all and I only really talked to her about once a week if everything was going fine.
"Not exactly. I need a clean-up crew to come to MJ's place. And bring our special guest to the Warehouse Site. There's a slight change of plans." I said, gaining a confused look from the three in front of me.
"Got it. Anything else?" Emma responded without hesitation.
"Yeah, please buy the building while you're at it." I spoke
"The apartment building?"
"Yup."
"Ok then. Didn't know you were getting into real estate yet." She quipped.
"Not until after September." (A/N: btw it's 2008, he's waiting to buy during the financial crash.)
"You've gotta tell me what happens then. You keep teasing me with it. Alright, it'll be done. See you there." She hung up.
"Let's get going. It's a long walk." I said, smiling at the three very confused teenagers.
...
When we finally got to the warehouse, I created a huge number of machines to test all aspects of their abilities. The Lifting machines clocked their lifting strength at over 100 tons. They were several dozen times faster than bullets, able to react to them at point blank range on reflex from under 20 centimeters away. (We used rubber bullets). That is, if they were even hurt by them at all.
Somehow, the combination of abilities I'd added to the spider gave them a lite version of Luke Cage's invulnerable skin. Their skin, while feeling the exact same as before to the touch, was hard enough that small arms fire only left bruises, and bladed weapons couldn't penetrate their skin unless they were swung at near Mach speeds.
Their Stingers channeled and amplified their venom blasts, which I discretely upgraded to use their innate Chi rather than bio-electricity and allowed them to emit an EMP in a small radius around them. I also took the chance, while I was at it, to dip them in proto-adamantium, giving them absurd cutting and stabbing power.
Thankfully they didn't ask what material I used to dip their stingers in, I only told them it was to protect them, as breaking them would be painful.
This upgraded their venom blasts to allow them to shoot short-range taser shots. And since they were made of Chi, they'd be especially useful against elemental opponents like Sandman or Hydroman as well as magical entities.
Their webs were also unique. Normally Spiderman's webs were easy to break out of if you had lighter, as they were flammable, but now they had small amounts of Chi running through them, making them act as a fire-retardant. They even acted as a natural suture, as the innate Chi in them healed minor wounds and stopped even the most severe bleeding in seconds. Plus they dissolved into harmless chemicals that actually helped the body (extremely minor help).
The stuff was so good I had Emma patent it for medical use and surgeries. I'd have Forge whip up something that could produce it on a mass scale and sell it t hospitals along with Universal Blood.
Yeah, I didn't lie about the universal blood donor thing that inspired the blood drive. I only casually checked all the samples before they went through the process.
"I never thought I'd be this agile!" MJ said as she was balancing her entire weight on her index finger. While also balancing said finger on a tightrope made from her webbing.
Gwen and Peter were currently busy behind me, looking at samples of their blood under microscopes. they both looked up for a second and saw their friend/lover doing tricks in different poses while keeping the balance on one finger.
"Whoah," Gwen commented.
"I know... she's so sex- I mean agile!" Peter corrected himself, knocking himself out of the trance we was falling into.
"Ah- about that," I commented, gaining their attention. "I think it has something to do with pheromones. You all seem to have bit bitten by the same spider, so you're pheromones are calling out to each other, making yall horney." I said
Gwen nodded. "That would make sense. I guess we really do have no other choice than to be together, huh, Peter?" Gwen said, trying to act teasingly.
Peter's face flushed and he began rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "I guess so. That'll make the two of you my wives." He said.
MJ fell of the web when she heard that, but thankfully her invulnerable body and regeneration allowed her to jump up off the ground in a heartbeat. Her face was slightly red too. Mostly from the embarrassment of the fall and a bit from the embarrassment of Peter's pseudo-proposal.
I smiled mischievously. "I don't know Peter, I'd propose to the women I like in a better environment than this."
Peter's red face darkened a shade as he hear this. While all of us laughed, some of us awkwardly, we all stopped at exactly the same time. Gwen, Peter, and MJ all leaped away from where they were standing at near-sonic speeds while I twisted my body slightly to avoid the attack. What whizzed by us all were shurikens of various styles. Each of them dripped with a different kind of poison. As a note to how sharp the blades were, they all embedded into the surface's they struck up to at least half-way, which was a solid steel table in the case of Gwen and Peter and concrete in the case of MJ and me.
"What was tha-" Peter asked before ducking under another stroke from behind in, only to receive a blow from a kick to his side while crouched at a weird angle, sending him flying.
MJ and Gwen turned their heads away to look at Peter as he flew, and in that instant, they both found their arms grabbed and they were effortlessly swung into one another like brass symbols.
"They're hard to catch, but once they do, they fall easily." The woman standing above Gwen and MJ said as she turned to me.
"You noticed my presence earlier than the others. You dodged with minimal movement that seemed to be refined over many years of practice. My daughter could learn a lot from you" She said, taking off the white Skull mask and looking me dead in the eyes.
I raised my eyebrow at that. "Oh? I think Cassy is doing fine though."
She smiled. "Indeed. You know of Cassandra?" she asked, more amused than anything.
"I know many things. How's the suit?" I asked.
"It is a bit clunky. I'd have easily dispatched your friend on the first surprise strike unarmored." She declared.
At this point, Peter, MJ, and Gwen had all gotten up and retreated to behind me, observing our interaction. They were looking at us with a bit of doubt in their eyes, not sure what was going on.
"is that so? You're next to impossible to please aren't you? The suit is made of a vibranium weave and is only a few grams heavier than silk. The armored plates are solid Adamantium. It even comes with a laser sharpening kit for your weapons. I thought I gave you all the specifications you'd requested." I asked with my eyebrow raised.
"It is wonderful, don't get me wrong, t could just do with being a little lighter." She said as she walked up to me and reached out her hand for a shake. "Sandra Wu-San, Taskmaster. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Damian Luciel. Miracle. Likewise." I shook it back.
"Um, whats up with this?" Peter asked, finally relaxing after seeing the woman wasn't hostile anymore.
"This is Taskmaster, although in China they call her Lady Shiva. She'll be your martial arts instructor from now on." I said, introducing her to them.
"Hold on, I get that she wiped the floor with us just now, but that's because we weren't ready! I doubt she'd beat us one on one as we are now!" Gwen complained, seemingly offended at the insinuation they needed a teacher.
I raised my eyebrow at what Gwen said. It didn't really make much sense when put to scrutiny. I was about to open my mouth to answer, but was interrupted by Taskmaster.
"Your enemies will not wait for you to be prepared before they strike! However, since you seem so confident, welp, shall I drag your ego back down from the heavens to the earth?" She said in a slightly arrogant tone, trying to provoke her. It was a classic tactic. In order to be an effective teacher, you had to show your students how much there was to teach.
Gwen was taken aback by the sudden challenge but doubled down on it. "Alright, I'll kick your butt to repay your bruises from earlier." She said, trying to appear confident.
I didn't think that nerdy little Gwen would let power go to her head so quickly, but I guess she really did need to be humbled before she got someone killed. Peter and MJ also nodded, but I think it was more to back up their friend/lover than because they actually believed it.
"They're going to be in for a world of pain," Emma said as she walked over to me and handed me a small sheet of papers.
"Oh yeah. Not even Batman can beat her without serious prep time." I said, looking down at the information on them.
There was an attack on one of our material plants last night. It was one where we processed vibranium for some of our more... delicate projects. From the pictures, it seemed to be a man in all black coming in, knocking out the guards, and stealing the vibranium. The pictures then showed him loading several tons of the material into a cloaked aircraft before leaving.
I immediately recognized who it was and pinched the bridge of my nose in frustration. It was the Black Panther. Somehow, someway, he figured out we were processing Vibranium into our projects there despite no one at the facility knowing what it was they were working with or where it came from. hat made sense since I wasn't going to advertise that my company had the material to the entire world, lest some supervillain tries to steal it. Furthermore, I created the vibranium myself, so it didn't come from Wakanda, but I guess he thought it did.
"Alright, I'll deal with this personally in a bit," I said, giving Emma back the report and looking up at the battle, or rather, what was left of it.
Taskmaster was standing over the knocked unconscious bodies of Peter, Gwen, and MJ cutting away at the remaining webbing on one of her arms with the laser cutter on the suit. She saw me finally looking up at her when she finished and gave a report.
"The male was the best one here. He actually used his webbing to tie one of my hands down and pass his chi through it like a taser. The two women are extremely rough around the edges though, going for simple punches and kicks rather than using their enhanced abilities to their fullest." She reported.
"I figured, Peter's clever like that. How long until you think they'll be competent enough to not die to the first supervillain they come across." I asked.
"Hmm. Four months for the boy, maybe five for the girls." She stated.
"All right then. I'll transfer the first four million into your account and register your daughter at our school. It was a pleasure to meet you, oh, and they can regenerate their stamina too, so go wild." I stated before walking away with Emma.
'Sorry guys, this is all to turn you into the ACTUAL Ultimate Spider-People. Can't have you struggling against people like the Kingpin or Tombstone. Not in a world where terrifying normal people like the Joker exist. This isn't a peachy world of silverage comics. If you lose, Peter dies and Gwen and MJ will wish they'd died.' I apologized in my mind to my friends as I left them to their fates.
