Trying to defend

"Don't you dare raise your hands up to her again, Mr. Man," Mara said while still holding onto his hands.

"And who did you think you are? Why are you even here?" Mr. Green Wave said confrontationally to Mara, facing her. "I heard every conversation. You're not being fair. She did fantastic out there, "Mara stated assertively while gesturing towards the location of their meeting. "You should be grateful she was more confident than me." Mara smiled and looked at Annie.

"Who even called you here? How dare you interfere in my matter, you little miss gossip. Why would you interfere in someone's business? Didn't your parents teach you right?" he questioned angrily.

"My parents did teach me right. I was told to stand up for myself from bullies and especially arrogant rich people who think they've made it in life and don't show respect to anyone but themselves. If you think you're too good, why didn't you present your project yourselves?" Mara retorted.

"Heyyy!! How dare you!" Mr. Green Wave yelled at her and raised his hands to strike her. However someone gripped his hands again as they hung in the air.

Mr. Max Warren III stepped forward with a stern expression, looking directly into Mr. Green Wave's eyes, slowly lowering his hand. "Don't even think about it," he said.

"Why are you here, Mr. Max Warren III? I'm trying to show this girl a lesson for putting her mouth into my matter and even going ahead to insult me and call me names. How can a lowlife like her talk to me in that manner?" Mr. Green Wave questioned.

Mara stepped forward and became the central figure between Mr. Warren III and Mr. Green Wave. "I was trying to show you what's right since you've been blinded by wealth," she said, folding her hands. Mr. Green Wave raised his voice and grabbed her by the neck. Without hesitation, Mara took his hands and bit them, causing him immense pain as he let out a scream. Max immediately pulled her aside.

Mr. Green Wave started boiling up, and he became more furious. "I don't think you want to be my enemy, Mr. Max Warren III. You know what I do with anyone who tries to cross me," he said angrily, with clenched teeth. "Work on your girl, or I'll work on her," he added.

"The only person who needs some work out here is you," she stated, glancing down at his protruding belly that was heaving up and down in sync with his irate breathing.

Annie let out a small giggle at her words, causing Mr. Green Wave to turn and glare furiously in her direction and she immediately stopped….

Max held her hands and pulled her out of the room and sent her somewhere else…

"What was that about?" he said furiously.

"I was only trying to make things right. I heard noises from the other room when I stood there," she said.

"Must you always interfere in matters that do not involve you? Why can't you just keep your eyes and mouth shut?" he hissed, visibly agitated as he ran his hands through his hair.

"Not when someone is being treated unfairly. I can't just seem to close my eyes when I see something like that, Sir," she said.

"You need to learn the three wise monkeys, Mizaru, Kikazaru, and Iwazaru," he said, demonstrating the signs, and then walked out.

"Ughhh, the same people. I don't like you either," Mara said with irritation, attempting to do the same signs, rolling her eyes. "What a waste of energy," she added.

He slammed the door behind him as he walked into his hotel, looking furious and boiling with anger. His face had completely turned red. He poured himself a tequila that was kept ready for his arrival by the hotel attendant. He gulped it all in one sip and threw the glass at the wall, anger reflecting in his eyes as he breathed heavily.

"I'm going to make her pay! How dare she talk to me like that?" he said with clenched teeth, glaring furiously at his reflection in the scratched glass.

Wow, Mara, the place is as beautiful as we've been seeing on those vlogs. Paloma said with teary eyes as Mara sent her videos of the place…

"You need to see it in person, Pal..nothing here can compare to what we see in those vlogs," Mara said with excitement on their video call.

"That must be great, you need to upload more on your Facebook page," Paloma suggested…

"Sure sure I will. I have even forgotten my logins; the last time I posted something over there was our girls' night dinner, and that was it."

"Yhyhy, three years ago," Paloma said, smiling.

"I'll try to retrieve it and get back to the gram," Mara said.

Paloma chuckled slightly.

A while later...

"You need to get ready for shopping. Why? For what reason?" Mara questioned one of Mr. Warren's guides who had come to her hotel room.

"He told me to tell you to get ready for that," he said formally and walked out.

"Why does he always treat me like a piece of luggage? Do I seem like a joke to him?" Mara said as she stood in her hotel room, wondering why he had asked her to follow him to the shopping mall.

Mara stood in front of the hotel as directed, and shortly after, a white tesler approached and stood in front of her…

The driver in the car lowered his window and greeted her. "Hello," he said to the frustrated Mara, who gazed right at him.

"Are you Miss Mara CC?" he asked.

"I am Mara Carter Castillo," she said boldly and firmly.

The driver chuckled. "Okay, I am sorry, Miss Mara Carter Castillo. I was asked to pick you up to the shopping mall by Mr. Warren III," he explained.

Without a word, she entered the car. When they arrived at the mall, the place was already packed with lots of people, standing outside and waiting for him to come out, calling out Mr. Warren's name. She managed her way through the crowd and bypassed them.
