Start of a fire

Mara stood in front of the company and she was in mesmerized this wasn't anything like she has been seeing on the TV or newspaper this was beyond it. She entered the building which was a three-story building, the wall was gleaming as if something radiant had been affixed to every inch of it. The high ceilings and design were top-notch. She observed that most of the people there were walking briskly to their destinations looking serious and focused. Her two-piece dress stood out as it didn't match the formal attire everyone else was wearing. Feeling a bit uncomfortable, she pulled her dress, trying to adjust it to somewhat look sharp like everyone else.

"Hey, Miss Mara, you are here the gentleman said with a bright smile on his face, hurry and follow me,", She followed him hastily whiles looking around her surroundings.….…

"Wait here," he said and left her in an office, which was as small as a storeroom compared to other offices she had seen in the building. She stood there a bit confused, walked around the room, and noticed a table with a picture frame of Mr. Warren III. She took it and smirked at it, saying, "You want to die," and turned it downwards.

She noticed a small window and peeped through it, seeing a much larger room with many advanced things in it.

"Hello, Miss Carter Castillo," a familiar face entered and mentioned her name. It was his assistant. Mara walked to him and said, "Yes, Sir."

"I'm happy you decided to think through about the offer," he said, smiling. Mara uttered no words and gave him a phony smile, pretending to be happy to be there. "Mr. Warren has arranged this place for you to use for now," he said, and Mara looked at him, then at the place, and back at him, which made him giggle. "I know what you want to say, but I have no choice but to follow his instructions, or neither of us will like our existence. I need to go," he said, slightly bowing down to show respect, and left.

Mara went back to the window to watch the other office, and all of a sudden, the door from the office abruptly swung open, and a tall gentleman entered, his face looking serious, dressed in a black suit. Her eyes lit up when she saw it was Mr. Warren III, and she quickly lowered the curtains, her heart pounding as if she was about to faint with her eyes wide opened.

She hurriedly went and sat on her seat, muttering, "I hope he didn't see me. I hope he didn't see me," Oh my, Oh my, and crossed her fingers tightly as she sat at the edge of the chair. The movement of the doorknob prompted her that someone was coming to her office, and fear began pumping through her veins even harder than before.

The door opened, and he stood tall, staring right at her. Mara looked at him and on the ceiling, feeling tense, and swallowed her saliva, and falsely scratched her hair.He walked and entered the office, standing in front of her desk with one hand in his pocket and the other resting heavily on the table.

Mara stood up. "I didn't even want to work here, hmm, save your words, I have no other choice. I signed an agreement without even reading what it was about," she said out of guilt even though no one had asked her anything.

Max didn't say a word and looked at her. "Mr. Moon will bring you some files. Make sure to read them carefully this time before signing each of them," he said, then took the picture frame with his face on it and placed it down. He left the office without saying another word.

Mara stood there, looking furious. She took the picture frame and turned it backward again. "Nobody wants to see your ugly face anyway," she said and sat heavily on her chair...…

In about 10 minutes, Mr. Moon and another man who moved a bunch of files that looked like a hip mountain on a wheel entered the office. The man left, leaving Mr. Mood and Mara all alone. Mara looked shocked at the sight of it.

"Mr. Warren III asked me to bring these for you to go through before signing," Mr. Mood said.

"Is he trying to kill me here?" Mara asked. Mr. Moon burst out laughing because he was unable to contain his laughter or remain serious.

"How can I go through all these files?" she said again, while Mr. Moon was laughing. Mr. Warren III entered, and he immediately stopped laughing. Mr. Moon slightly bowed down to him and addressed him formally. "Sir," he said, positioning himself professionally.

You need to make sure to read them, he said when Max was staring at him and Mara glanced at him with a bombastic side- eye....

I need to see you, he said and Mr. Moon followed him out, while he looked back at Mara who looked pissed and smiled.

Mara used her legs to hit the files, which almost collapsed, and she quickly caught them before they could fall over. "Awwish," she bent and touched her leg because of the pain and walked to her chair while limping. "I'm going to kill someone's son before I leave this company,"

she said and snatched one file from the stack, placing it on the table. She looked at it with irritation in her eyes and began reading through it before signing one by one.

She sat at the cafeteria to have her lunch, which was rice, gravy, and slices of chicken with some fruit juice beside. She sat there looking angry while chewing the rice as though it had some bones in it, quickly putting it in her mouth as though someone was after her. She caught the attention of other colleagues who were also having their lunch, and they started to gossip about her. Others pointed at her, but she didn't give a hoot about what anybody was saying and kept on with her business.

The presence of Mr. Warren III brought some tension to the lunch hall, and everyone kept their cool and composure, making sure they maintained their professionalism even in the lunch hall.

But Mara didn't notice the change of environment and kept eating briskly. "Hmm-hmmm," Mr. Warren III cleared his throat when he reached Mara's table, but Mara didn't care to see who it was and kept on eating with her head down as if she was in a hurry to go somewhere. He cleared his throat again, and Mara, with a mouth full of rice, raised her head to talk to whoever it was.

"Hey," she said, and some rice slipped out of her mouth and into Mr. Warren's shirt. She sighed heavily when she saw it was her annoying boss. Her eyes opened wide with a mouth full, trying to talk, "O-ohh, I'm sorry," she said and quickly used her hands to wipe the rice stain on his shirt. Mr. Warren grabbed her hand from his shirt and held it in the air. Everyone's attention was on them, shocked at what Mara had done. They knew their boss and knew how he can get when he gets pissed.

He looked into her eyes, and his composed face turned from that of a newborn kitten to that of a lion. Mara let out a heavy sigh while she tried to swallow the remaining rice in her mouth. She swallowed heavily and was finally able to clear her mouth. "I'm sorry," she said while he still held her hands in the air. He gazed into her eyes, and Mara tried blowing air to sweep the one piece of rice stain that proved stubborn to go.

"Do you have no manners?" he said finally and let go of her hand. Mara kept her head buried in shame, trying not to make eye contact.

"I'm sorry," Mara said, and he walked hastily away without wanting to hear anything she had to say. Mara ran after him to apologize more.

Everyone in the hall followed her with their eyes, trying to see what the newbie had gotten herself into.

He entered his office, which was a sanctuary of wealth and power, and walked straight to his walking wardrobe room. "An office with a wardrobe? I'm even shocked as the writer… Oh yeah, what do you expect from a sassy-ass fine billionaire man? He's got to look cute even in the office,".

Mara entered the office when she saw the door wasn't closed and looked around to see where he had passed. "Has he vanished?" she asked herself. "OMG OMG, is he a devil, monster, demon or all of the above?" she said while still looking around the office. She saw a huge frame of him behind his mega chair; he had a small smile on his face. Mara stared at it with a disliking look on her face. "I didn't know he can smile," she said to herself. She was about to turn and walk out since she didn't see where he had passed. She turned, and there he was. Mr. Warren stood there almost bare-chested, his hairy chest, and in his hands, he held a new shirt which he was about to wear.
