When we got away He let me go.

Maxine why don't you defend yourself from people who are like Clarisse? I know you can protect yourself. My older brother said angrily to me.

I just kept quiet.

I walked away from him because I could not bear his presence.

He pulled me back and pinned me against the wall.

The eyes of the other staff widened.

He brought his lips close to my ears and whispered.

I just let him pull me because I lost my sanity.

We went to the floor of the VIP rooms upstairs for the elites.

The living room has a center table in the middle. There are flowers in the middle of the center table. Only light colors are used here.

I sat on the sofa and let my eyes explore the room.

I stared at the frames on the wall.

I walked over there and stared at that picture.

That was our picture when I graduated.

I took the ice pack and applied it to my cheek. I closed my eyes because of the pain.

I took my iPad and just scrolled to instagram while the ice pack was on my cheek.

I was surprised because my older brother suddenly came in.

He quietly removed his coat and placed it on the coat stand.

I noticed there was blood on his coat.

What happened? I asked curiously.

I didn't save that kid. He said and wiped his face.

I gasped.

Jayden, you can't save everyone as much as you want to. You can't stop death. I said

He looked at me and hugged me.

My body stiffened because it was sudden.

He whispered to me.

Thank you for coming into my life he said I just smiled and returned his hug.

You are off-duty right? He asked

I just nodded.

I'll take you home he said and went ahead.

We left the hospital.

Maxine, wait for me I forgot my keys and jacket inside. Jayden said and went inside.

I was left standing outside as I felt something staring.

I looked all over the place but I saw no one.

I just ignored that because I might be imagining.

I felt something hold my wrist so I kicked him.

When I turned around I saw five men with their faces covered.

I was suddenly nervous.

Who are you? I asked

Just come with us if you don't want anything to happen to you miss.

He said

Do I know you? For me to come with you ?! Who ordered you ?! Tell me ?!

Take her I heard one of their companions whispered.

The two men took my hand but I both kicked them in the face.

Nosebleed.

Their companion pulled my clothes when I started running.

That's why my clothes were torn.

I also saw that 3 of their companions pulled out a knife.

I'm done! I whispered to myself
