I slammed back into my body, exhaling as Iepa stared at me with shock and more than a little terror.
"You knew," she choked out.
"The blood of the maji is on my hands," I said, like that meant something.
Iepa meeped in fear, freeing her fingers from mine, hugging herself. "You have to stop it," she said.
I laughed, empty and hopeless. "How?"
Oliver's hands settled on my shoulders, Sass's blinking amber eyes fixed on me. "You need to reach the maji," the Order soldier said like that was as simple as a walk in the park next door.
"We already talked about this," I said, not turning to him, staring down at Iepa. "No Gateway. No Gate." I paused, frowned at her. "The maji chamber?"
Iepa shook her head. "I don't know," she said. "I planned to use that connection, but was cast into the void before I could try it. Only when you fed power to Ameline was I able to find a way out."
