Chapter 9: Hogwarts Express (Part 2)

In the compartment, Alan and the others were having quite a pleasant chat.

The Hogwarts Express had already left London long ago and was steadily moving towards the Scottish highlands.

"So, what house do you think you'll be in? I wanna go to Gryffindor, I heard Dumbledore graduated from there." Hermione said with a bright smile.

Nevile and Ron also seemed to echo her thoughts.

Before any of them could say anything more, a small knocking came from the compartment door and out stood a middle-aged woman with a smile on her face.

"Would you like anything off the trolly, dears?"

Alan had already eaten before he boarded the train, but looking at the hesitant trio who looked like they really wanted to buy some but seemed... hesitant?

Alan sighed.

He felt he was a bit too nice sometimes.

"We'll take the whole lot…"

Alan said handing one galleon from his pouch and got 6 sickles and 7 knuts back.

Bertie Botts Every flavor beans, Glowing Bubble Gum, Pumpkin pie tarts, Cauldron cake, Licorice Wand.

And of course those damn fucking chocolate frog cards!!

[ Magic Items: Chocolate frog cards(4x), Chocolate frog card(Rare) ]

Looking at the panel, Alan felt like he ate a sherbery lemon and was extremely sour.

Taking the candies from the trolley, Alan placed them on the table.

"Take as much as you like, I insist. We'll all be classmates soon anyway and since this is probably going to be the last time we are able to eat candy for a while, we better start eating."

Alan said with a small smirk as he grabbed a handful of the candy and shared it with his new friends.

Although Ron among the three, seemed a little overwhelmed, the allure and temptation of candy made him accept Alan's goodwill.

"Thanks, mate… would you like to try one of my sandwiches? My mother made them, though they might not suit your taste..." Ron said as he took out four sandwiches wrapped in some kind of foil.

Alan smiled at the offer.

"Sure, why not? I bet they'll taste just fine."

Alan took one of the unwrapped sandwiches and took a bite.

"It's a bit dry, but it tastes good," Alan said with a smile.

Although this was said out of consideration of Ron's feelings, It really tasted good.

When Ron heard Alan say this, a proud smile curled on his lips.

"Yeah, it does, even though my mom always forgets that I don't really like corned beef, her cooking is always amazing."

Hearing this. Hermione who was busy chewing on candy for once, also got a little curious.

She handed one of her snacks from the muggle world to Ron and asked.

"Ron, can you exchange a piece for me? I'd also like to try if that's alright."

Hermione said a little sheepishly.

"Of course." Ron agreed happily.

Ron was quite happy Alan and Hermione approved of the sandwich his mother prepared for him.

After all, Ron has been wearing his brother's second-hand clothes since he was a child, and now he uses his brother Charlie's old wand. And his pets are the ones his brothers don't want. So he's slowly grown an inferiority complex over the years.

And Alan wanted to change that.

As his first minio- as his first followe-, As his first friend it would be great if he forgot about such a complex.

Therefore recognition from others Is very important to him.

Alan thought with a thoughtful expression.

The atmosphere between the four of them was very harmonious for a while.

Ron introduced some chocolate frogs to Hermione, while Alan conversed leisurely with Neville.

There was also a picture included in the chocolate frog cards. All of which were of famous wizards, and he had collected 5 of them.

'Maybe one day the system will give me every single one?' Alan thought in both amusement and irritation at the prospect.

Alan stares at the chocolate frog card he has. There was a picture of an old man wearing a pair of half-moon glasses, with a long crooked nose, and a long silver beard and hair.

The name beneath the picture reads Albus Dumbledore.

Alan grinned, He always mixed up the actors in his previous life and always thought that the one who played Dumbledore looked like Gandalf.

He turned the picture over and looked at the text in the back:

Albus Dumbledore, the current headmaster of Hogwarts.

Widely regarded as the greatest wizard of our time.

Dumbledore's most notable contributions include:

Defeating the Dark Wizard Grindelwald in 1945

Discover the twelve uses of dragon's blood.

He was highly successful in alchemy with his partner and mentor, Nicholas Flamel.

Professor Dumbledore enjoys chamber music and ten-pin bowling.

"Alchemy…" Alan whispered.

It was one of the subjects he was least talented in but was extremely interested in. This also meant, that if he wanted to pursue alchemy, he would need to increase his talents either through the system or hard work.

A low talent only hindered his ability to comprehend the subject and wouldn't help him make any progress at all.

When he thought of his talents, he suddenly remembered that he still hadn't used his Eye of Insight on either Hermione or Neville.

Realizing this he looked at Neville who was excitedly talking about herbology.

'Insight'

[Name: Neville Longbottom

Age: Eleven

Bloodline: None

Talent: None

Personality: Timid(?)

Magic Power: 4 (Above Average)

Charms: 7 (Genius)

Black magic: 2 (Below Average)

Prophecy: 0 (No talent)

Transfiguration: 3 (Normal)

Potions: 1 (Horrible)

Ancient Runes: 2 (Below Average)

Alchemy: 2 (Below Average)

Skills: Herbology (level 6), Magizoology(Level 3)

Magic items: Wand(No loyalty, unable to perform)

Character Evaluation: Neville Longbottom has significant potential, particularly in the field of Herbology and Charms,

His wand and memory are going to hinder all of his classes focused on waving the wand such as charms, even worse the subjects his already below average in will not even be able to manifest.

Solution: Giving him a new wand would allow his talents to shine in charms, and with the right support in his other studies, Needs to work on confidence and Memory. ]

Alan raised an eyebrow at this.

He knew Neville was talented in herbology but he didn't know he had already reached level 6 in said subject!

'No wonder he became the next Herbology Teacher at Hogwarts in the original work.'

Alan sighed and glanced at Hermione and used his ability once again.

[Name: Hermione Jean Granger

Age: Eleven

Bloodline: None

Talent: Photographic Memory.

Personality: Diligent, Rational.

Magic Power: 3 (Normal)

Charms: 7 (Genius)

Black Magic: 3 (Normal)

Prophecy: 0 (No talent)

Transfiguration: 6 (Excellent)

Potions: 7 (Genius)

Ancient Runes: 5 (Talented)

Alchemy: 6 (Excellent)

Skills: Transfiguration(Level 1), Lumos(Level 2), Reparo(Level 2), Nox(Level 1)...

Character Evaluation: Hermione's photographic memory and diligence make her exceptionally talented in a lot of subjects notably in Charms and Potions.

Solution: Convince her to get out of her books and to also focus on working on the practical part of said subjects.

Doesn't have a specific subject to focus on but is more of an all-rounder in a sense. Teaching her that magic is more idealistic and not exactly 'complete' is probably the only help you can provide her. ]

Alan was gobsmacked.

She really was Miss-Know it all.

Alan only had two talents that were exceptionally high, those were black magic and transfiguration. most of his other talents were below average, except for charms as he was above average in talents there.

The funny thing was, his transfiguration talents were originally 4!

It was only thanks to his system that he was able to increase it that much, and he hasn't gotten any talent points since then.

Alan felt a little envious of Hermione for a moment, before realizing he was being stupid.

He had a system, which literally just meant he was cheating and of course, WOULD continue to cheat.

Alan's lips curled slightly as he continued to listen to Neville's invaluable knowledge of Herbology while asking a few questions from time to time to keep him going.

And then the compartment door opened... again.

a platinum-haired boy with an arrogant face stood there with two goons.

"Is it true?" the boy asked, stepping inside without waiting for an invitation. "They're saying down the train that Alan Potter is in this compartment. You must be him."

Alan looked up, slightly annoyed at the interruption. "Name is John Wick. Alan Potter isn't in this compartment. You could try checking in that direction," he said, pointing out towards the left.

The boy scrutinized Alan for a moment, then scoffed as if the very notion of being here any longer was polluting the air he breathed in and went away as rudely as he had come.

"Geez, he didn't even close the door," Alan said in irritation.

"Why'd you lie to him? Didn't you tell us your name was Alan?" Hermione asked, a little puzzled.

Alan leaned back in his seat, a small smile playing on his lips. "I did. But I'd rather not have someone like him knowing anything about me just yet."

Ron nodded in agreement his face a bit sour at the mention of the platinum-haired boy. "Good call. Mate, Malfoy's are gits. My brothers have told me all about his family. They're all a bunch of Death Eaters."

"Yeah.. well enough about him I bet he'll go around the whole train looking for me"

"Wait.. You're Alan Potter?! Why didn't you say so? I've read all about you!" Hermione exclaimed, her eyes wide with curiosity.

Alan sighed. "Yeah, it's for that reason honestly. I don't want people to think I'm some kind of evil-destroying taboo machine when I'm just as human as any other person. Seriously it gets annoying real quick."

Neville, who had been quiet for most of the conversation, finally spoke up. "Well... it's not every day we meet the famous boy who lived. I mean, a lot of us grew up reading about you."

Nevile said sheepishly.

Alan was taken aback by Neville's shy admission. He knew he was famous, but hadn't quite grasped the impact of his reputation beyond his own experiences. "Oh," he replied awkwardly, "I guess that's true."

"But seriously, Neville your telling me most kids from wizarding families grew up reading about me"

Neville nodded.

Alan looked at the trio for a moment before he started laughing his ass off

"Haha, I bet all of the things you've read about me are utter horse shit Hahaha!"

They all looked bewildered by his sudden laughter When they realized that he really nothing like his book counterpart.

Nevile and Ron, who grew up with such stories really couldn't piece together the heroic Alan Potter who saved damsels in distress as a daily thing, with this uhm, laughing and eccentric maniac, and they both started laughing at the infectious laughter and Alan's words as well.

Hermione looked utterly confused, she was from the muggle world and had never read any of those stories books, she could only utter the first words that came to mind.

"Boys." She said a bit miffed but a small smile still curled her lips.

As time passed by, they were slowly approaching their destination as the castle became more visible.

"Look we're almost there," Hermione said excitedly as she looked out of the window.

Outside in the distance was a big majestic castle, with many windows, and, High, thick walls surrounding the sprawling structure, the moon shone brightly above making it look even more amazing which left them in awe at the prospect of studying in such a magical place.

Alan smiled.

'The movies really didn't do this world justice.'

As they were nearing the train stop, Hermione got up for them to change to their robes.

Before they all got clothed and went out to let Hermione Do the same.

Alan looked outside the windows as the train came to a halt.

'This is where it begins.'
