Harbinger of Calamity

a Neet who has worked hard his entire life, who has experienced the vicissitudes of life, living much of his life in poverty, depression and drug addiction, at the end of his difficult road, dies of cancer at the age of 26. Having suffered his entire life trying to face the cruel reality of the world, always chasing higher pursuits and exploring ideas but his pursuit of truth only leads to his own collapse. In his last days instead of weeping, he laughs, he laughs at the absurdity of it all. It seemed as if fate had played the biggest joke on him, he had taken too seriously what had no value. What is life? a blink of an eye! as unreal as a dream, what a mysterious world, we are just born out of nowhere only to vanish later on. A profound sigh was uttered "If only I wasn't dealt such bad cards! I was made for the heights yet here I am crashed in the abyss of life."  Looking at the world he was soon to leave, he sighed "Humanity truly has fallen in this era, it has crashed from the heights of embodying divinity to succumbing to their animalistic selves becoming creatures of decadence, slaves to pleasure, lust and the lowly desires of the body. Truly my heart weeps for the tragedy of humanity, the industrial revolution, a slave society disguised as 'modern society', poisonous foods filled with chemicals, an entire network engineered to enslave minds called the internet, an absolute infestation of decadence and mediocrity in the very Human spirit that used to overpower all. All humanity is enslaved, what can't parents even teach? they are slaves themselves. Atleast in this life, I refused to be a slave, I was a free being, atleast in the later half of my life, I followed my own passions and lived my own life but in the end, sigh I failed! But oh well, who ever lived a perfect life in this world? as the darkness of death engulfs him, he fully accepts it and is gone. A pair of eye opened and an absolutely stunning sight appeared, he was transmigrated. For the first time in so long, he could see clearly without glasses or contacts, he could feel physically powerful instead of a sickly body and a destroyed pleasure system. He resolves that this time, this life, He would pursue his own freedom! He would never give up on himself and he will walk his own path to the very end. "That's right, I was wrong depending on sympathy. Cold, heartless, I won't forgive them, they can't be forgiven! That's right, it wasn't me who was wrong, it was the world that was wrong!" A descent towards Madness. A cruel world where no refuge can be found, countless obstacles obstructing one's path, mountains of corpses, an abyss of blood, a heart of darkness, a cruel fate to all living beings. No heart or soul, only an abyss of despair and a heart to ascend beyond. ... Vwoom

A weird sound echoed as an anima activated, a twenty meter wide pot immediately appeared.

Clang

The pot rolled on the ground emitting metallic sounds before it stopped.

On Yugo's hand was an amanita muscaria mushroom that was a storage anima.

Swoosh

A small wind blew moving all the giant pieces of meat in the air.

Previously, Flobo had meticulously prepared the raptor beast using various animas, one anima merged with the beast's bones loosening the connection between bone and muscle before he moved an anima that looked like a long knife to gently cut and seperate the muscle fibers from the bones.

This gentle cutting wasn't slow but fast, very fast, Flobo moved like a swordsman cutting every piece of meat at the very fibers between the meat and bone, the already tender meat from all the battles was easily cut before left slightly floating above the ground using a spell.

After all meat was cut, only then did Yugo interfere.

Nameless had already walked to the entrance of the cave, he had no wish to watch the show nor was he in the mood to be eating such a meal, however to show respect for Yugo he remained watching for a few brief moments.

The pot looked gigantic, it was so big no one could see its inside, however, it was at this moment that the minimen began to feel themselves rising in the air.

All the minimen began to float rising high above the pot, they were finally able to see its inside.

As if knowing his intention, Yugo didn't lift Nameless, only the minimen present and all the minimen that made their way from the cave.

At the center was Yugo alone floating above the pot, everyone else was slightly far away at a higher vantage point from different directions.

Yugo summoned a storage anima as it flew with him, it looked like an amanita muscaria, it shone with red light as countless ingredients emerged from it and floated in the air.

As Nameless looked, all sorts of ingredients, ranging from fluorescent ingredients that shone with purple, red, blue, yellow and green light to regular ingredients that looked like rice, potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms, carrots, ginseng, onions and cabbages...

As he looked although the regular ingredients had a similar shape to the ones in his previous life but they wildly differed in their appearences and probably even in their effects, they were purple carrots, white potatoes that had weird stems, red mushrooms, green onions that secreted a weird gas and yellow juicy tomatoes. Not forgetting a long milky white ginseng, rainbow rice and black cabbages...

After the ingredients emerged, Yugo used another storage anima that looked like a frog, the frog opened its mouth before it spit ten thousands liters of water, the giant pot was slowly filled to the brim.

Yugo didn't add spices even though they floated in the air, he merely submerged the meat alone in the water before he used a killer move lighting a purple flame under the pot.

The flame was powerful, it merely took a minute before the water started boiling. A few minutes passed before Yugo submurged the vegetables and a negligible amount of spices in the water.

These ingredients boiled adding just the right amount of flavour to the meat that was already emitting a delicious smell.

After watching to this part, Nameless turned entering the cave as the sun began to set.

He encountered dozens of minimen as he was making his way in, as he reached the inner part, all the minimen had gone outside.

Nameless was tired, cold, hungry and uncertain about the future.

Things grew more and more complicated, unsurmountable obstacles appeared one after the other, his lack of knowledge made these difficult situations even worse.

He had always walked on a thin line in his previous life, after transmigrating, in the dream realm, yet even now after obtaining a small safety net, he still felt no repose.

Nameless looked at the bioluminescent cave, small minerals shone with all kinds of colours making the cave feel dreamy and magical.

He had always encountered such hardship, his previous life was no less than disastrous, he had to suffer and gritt his teeth to survive in an unfair world where no one understood him, where nothing went his way, he had go against everything everyone told him and take risks to live his own life, even as he transmigrated, not even a day passed before he was nearly killed and eaten by a beast before being thrown into a dream realm.

In all these situations, he had tried his absolute best yet nothing seemed to work, he was taken for a fool and manipulated the entire time in the dream realm, he was made to suffer and even give up parts of himself to be consumed by the Tree of eternal life.

He could see it clearly now, as the memories came back to him, the dream realm tried to break him again and again, he could only filled with anger and resentment now at what he was made to go through, he was manipulated the entire way and he could do nothing about it.

Even after overcoming the dream realm, roaming and escaping the beasts that saw him as a snack, he was still but a pawn moving in the palm of the will in his mind.

Only through a decisive risk and some luck was he able to outsmart it and survive.

Yet, just as he was optimistic about his future, the power he could posess and rise with, he was faced with the cruel reality.

Just a few years left to live?

Finding a legendary anima to survive?

Countless cruel realities assaulted him, he could only try and brush them off to focus on the present.

Nameless didn't fear death but he had not even lived, how could he accept death now?

All his dreams and ambitions would go down the drain if he just gave up now.

He resolved to fight back that night after realising the intense predicament he was in.

Yet only a day had to pass before he had to fight the raptor beast and tread a thin line which at its fall meant losing one's sanity to the blood frenzy anima.

All these challenges and difficulties only meant and showed one clear fact to him as he looked back at them now, he wasn't resolved enough to tread his own path.

He wasn't resolved enough to go through these situations without complaint or regret, he was still afraid of what the future held, of what could happen and of the possibility of failure and death.

Even through, he went through his first life and the dream realm, it seemed he still had an attachment to life, a primordial instinct and desire in a living being to live.

Nameless felt slightly depressed, he sank the memories of his first life, of his most difficult times of being a drug addict.

As he did, he couldn't but burst out laughing.

"Hahaha, what am I even worrying for? Even this situation is a way better than the previous one."

As he remembered, it instantly dawned on him that he was still miraculously alive, his constant persistence was enough to save him.

Yes, he was taken for a fool and manipulated the entire time in the dream realm yet he still survived a powerful dream realm even though it pushed him to his limits.

Yes, even after overcoming the dream realm, he was still in the palm of the will in his mind, but through a decisive risk and some luck, he was able to outsmart it and survive.

Yes, he still walked the same thin he walked in his previous line, an even thinner line over an abyss that would swallow him over the slightest mistake yet here he was still alive and kicking.

Yes, he received catastrophic news making him completely oblivious as what to do in the future yet he still had the opportunity to turn the odds in his favour.

As he thought of this, he couldn't help but burst out laughing, all the depressive emotions were turned into a powerful resolve to survive and overcome all the challenges reality may throw at him.

"Hahaha, I have really become rusty heh, I have a priceless opportunity in this world! how could I give up now?!" Nameless enthusiastically spoke.

"In my previous life, human beings were weak, they had no choice but to follow the rules dictated by society and the world. Humans could only envy the birds for their freedom or make excuses as to why being bound to the earth was better. They could only walk and follow the herd or be isolated. They had to follow the rule or be considered lower by society. But, here in this world, a single individual can hold such a power, just the miniman immortal could defeat powerful beasts, have such magical power and do impossible things."

The more Nameless thought, the more excited he became : "I must try my best, because in this world I can fight for my freedom! I can struggle for my aspirations and I can be repayed for my efforts!"

"Hehehe"

As he thought more and more, he couldn't help but laugh at the people in his previous world, they were all cocky and condescent towards him, telling him to not dream of something beyond being a mere shackled human being.

They treated him as a fool for desiring the truths and mysteries of life, saying that there was no truth or that only the gods held them.

They treated him as insane person when he thought from the perspective of a free being, the perspective of someone who had the possibility to do anything. People told him to be realistic, to follow society, to earn a living, to be grounded in reality but how could a dreamer be bound to reality?

As he looked back on his life, Nameless didn't feel regret but a pride at who he was.

Yes, there was no way to overcome that world but Nameless felt pride that he didn't let the world change who he is!

Nameless didn't expect people in his previous life to understand him, they were bound beings. How could a bird who never dared to fly understand the freedom of flight?

Nameless wasn't free physically in his previous world, but he was free mentally.

His curiosity and desire for freedom always got the best of him, he appeared like a madman to others, he didn't think like them, looking at the birds, even in his previous life, he desired to fly, even if it was impossible.

"In my previous life, it was impossible but here it is possible! There are cultivators!"

Nameless thought about the purple fog video showing the two cultivators fighting while flying in the sky, the lightning formation, the thunder that came from the skies as well as the expertise of the will and the power of Yugo. Such feats that were out of a fantasy world were possible here!

"Cultivators can harness natural powers to their benefit. They can soar the skies, challenge powerful beings, destroy mountains, they can learn and explore this magical world in depth without fear."

Nameless still hadn't recovered from the shock of such a power being real.

Although he had been a dreamer but he had also been a skeptic and a critical thinker, he never believed in what others believed, he could see that life was mystical but he didn't attach to any gods or religion.

To him, those that denied that life was magical simply because they had been too used to it were the ones that weren't critical thinkers.

Seeing, hearing, feeling, the senses were magical.

"In this world, I can explore the mysteries of life, I can learn what I am and what living beings are. I can obtain power, work for my freedom and even I can explore the realms of possibility. Wow!"

Nameless still couldn't believe it, he felt almost as if in a dream.

He had always loved fantasy books, novels and such, there were artistic expressions after all, authors were dreamers.

Despite some however being very materialistic, only chasing fame and wealth but those small minority that had passion, that wrote simply for the sake of writing, who wanted to experience such mystical side of life had tried to explore these possibilities in his previous life.

Nameless had been such an author in the dream realm, that's why, he couldn't believe how marvelous the world was, it was beyond anything he had ever imagined.

Everything looked different, magical and mysterious.

Even if he tried to describe it with his current knowledge, he wouldn't be able to.

This lit the flame in ambition in his heart even more.

"As long as I work hard, as long as I gritt my teeth and push through the difficulties and challenges on my path, one day, one day! I can soar the skies! reign over the lands! explore the vast world with its myriad seas and landscapes and even create something unique to myself!"

Nameless couldn't help but stand up to clench his fist in pure excitment.

Just as he had lost his spirit, he had regained it as the fire of ambition burned in his heart.

He was now resolved to endure the hardships and surpass all the obstacles that would be put on his path!
