A cat and a...dog?

"So, does that answer your question?", Tatterhood asked as RJ finished looking over her origin story. His eyes darted across the description a few times before a frown developed on his face.

"Why does it look so... short? Truncated? Abridged".

"Oh that? That's because we just met. You don't expect a lady to share all of her a secrets to a man she just met, do you?", she asked with a smug, slightly flirtatious, look on her face.

"I...uh...right", RJ managed to stammer with a bit of blush on his face.

"Mew".

"Baa"!

The kitten and goat said in amusement.

"Now then, are you going to claim your quest rewards or what"?

"Oh? Right, yeah".

RJ shifted his attention away from Tatterhood and back to the reward screen. Unsure of how to accept, he just reached out his hand and try to poke the screen. As his finger pressed the word [Accept], he heard a clicking noise followed by a ding.

{Initiating reward distribution}.

The screen proceeded to morph into a ball of light, while the kitten in his arms coughed up another ball of light.

"Oh shit, you are magic".

"Mew"?

The balls light then merged with each other in a spinning manner, before bursting into two metallic cards that began to float in the air to the left and right of it, one green and one gold, two tickets and a book. Unusually, the kitten had a small tether of light connecting it to the gold card.

"I guess that gold card is the kitten's...", RJ thought as he proceeded to reach out and touch it.

[Contract card activated, establishing connection].

Suddenly, a flood of information came into his mind.

{Description: Ferocious as a tiger, but gentle as a breeze and vegetarian to boot. The zouyu is considered a counterpart to the Kirin and it's said to only appear before righteous and benevolent rulers. There is some speculation that zouyus are directly related to giant pandas...and also spelled as zouwu due to a certain magic-based franchise. Most zouyu will take on the form of a cat when traveling incognito. This one has taken the form of a Dragon Li cat}.

"Limited Shape-shifting?", RJ asked aloud as he held the small kitten in his hands outward.

The kitten had a lovely grey, striped fur pattern and big blue eyes. The kitten reminded RJ of Dragon Li cats, a domestic species in China he read up on once after reading about them in a web novel about pets.

"Nyaa-choo"!

"Oh my God!", RJ exclaimed as the kitten in his hands suddenly exploded in a cloud of dust after it had sneeze. The dust soon cleared and the kitten had dramatically transformed.

"D'awwww, he's adorable", Tatterhood commented.

After sneezing, the kitten had maintained it's grey coloring, but had suddenly doubled in size, grew a pair of horns, tusks like a boar, a bushy mane and a long wispy tail. Normally such a creature would inspire majestic awe, but it looked a little too adorkable with it's tongue sticking out.

[Contract established. Would you like to dismiss the zouyu for now]?

As soon as the announcement was made, RJ felt that he could now vaguely feel what the zouyu was thinking and feeling.

"Uh...what do you want to do little guy"?

"Mew".

The zouyu proceeded to wiggle out of RJ's grasp and turn into a ball of light, that shot into his chest...again. RJ was a little freaked out by the sudden disappearance, until he was informed by the game guide that the zouyu had just entered his "soul plane" and that he could view it later.

Assured by the game system, he proceeded to touch the second card and was once more subjected to the information flood.

"Wait, that ogre was an ogress?", RJ asked Tatterhood with a confused look on his face. To which, she replied with a shrug.

Just like the zouyu, the ogress card soon disappeared into dust and the system informed him that ogress was successfully added to his soul plane.
