Reunion of Father Son duo - 2

Even though Claude has already stopped crying, he still kept hugging his father tightly because he wanted the warmth which he never got in his five years of life. Even if the warmth belonged to the person who was behind all his problems.

After coming to his senses Claude pushed away his father. His face is red like a tomato. Even though he somehow feels after crying his heart out he was still embarrassed about his behaviour, especially the crying part. His father clearly knew why his son was embarrassed but he just merely chuckled.

" What is this place ?" Claude asked.

" This is my inner realm or you can simply say a space I created to meet you."

After hearing his answer, Claude was surprised.

' To create something so crazy, just how strong was my father.'

" So….. what happened to you ? Why did you leave my mother after getting her pregnant ?" Claude asked without any hesitation.

" It's a long story and I didn't leave your mother. If I had done that then I would have never been able to meet you." He replied.

" Wait, does that mean….."

" I died on the day I came to know that you were going to be born."

Claude flinched, even though he was somewhat expecting it. It still hurts like hell when someone truly willing to accept you is dead.

Seeing his gloomy attitude his father just smiled and shaked his head.

" Don't worry son, I have paid the price for trying to go against fate." He said.

" Then how come you are here ? Alive and fine right in front of me after five years." Claude asked, wanting to change the topic.

" I was never able to pass on. Due to my wish to see my son grow up from a small child to an adult." He replied, but something clicked in Claude's mind.

" What were those white flames ? Because of them you were able to see my memories, weren't you ?" I asked.

" Actually they did more than that. I was able to experience everything you went through including your emotions, mentality and much more. Though that spell only works if the person in front of you shares your blood." He explained, Claude turned pale from his answers.

" Then…. You know everything…. Including my….." He stuttered.

" Oh, you mean your reincarnation ?" He said without any hesitation which caused Claude to flinch.

" Doesn't it mean that I am not your son but an imposter ?" Claude asked with a gloomy expression.

" Yes, that would have been the case if you really were reincarnated." He said.

" What do you mean ?" Claude asked.

" See reincarnation means possessing a body, newborn body to be precise. But you never possessed anyone's body, you were born in this world through a normal rebirth cycle. Just that your soul never got cleansed before rebirthing that's why you still have your past memories but remember you are not your past self. Memories will at the end just be that– memories. They can never be your experience." He concluded.

Even Claude understood most of the given information, there were some parts he still didn't understand but he decided to not pry too much into it. He was just happy to know that he didn't force his way in this world but instead he belonged here.

" Just remember your own words son, nothing in this world is free, everything comes with a price. And keeping your past memories also has a price."

" But you don't have to worry about that for now. Currently you should only focus on your magic career. You will know everything when the time comes."

Hearing this Claude frowned, he was willing to pay the price but at least he wanted to know that price beforehand so that he could prepare for it.

Seeing his son's expression, the man had a silly smile on his face. He suddenly kissed Claude's forehead and started rubbing his cheeks and with his own.

" Do you know how adorable you are ? If just Amber had seen your cuteness she would have forgotten everything and kept on playing with you like a plushie." He said.

Claude got embarrassed because of his father's behaviour but he did not stop him. Actually, he was used to this, sometimes out of nowhere Layla hugs him so tightly, squeezing the air out of his lungs. Even Ares sometimes stares at him with the same silly smile like his father, whenever Layla or anyone is not around that is.

" But then where were you till now ?" Claude asked, freeing himself from his father's cheek rubbing.

" I was always with you but I was in a deep slumber until now, because I had to use magic to seal in your–" He suddenly stopped talking as if he remembered something.

" S-son, can I ask you what your current age is ?" He asked, trying to contain his excitement.

" Today I turned 5 years o–" before he could even complete his sentence his father lifted him up.

" My son is a fucking genius !!" He shouted while holding his son in his arms.

Claude didn't say anything because the one thing he came to know about his father after spending a little time with him is that no one can stop this man no matter what. Well, a smile was already formed on his charming face after all, which child will not like his parents praising him as a genius. Though he still didn't understand why his father was calling him a genius.

After a few minutes his father finally came to his senses. He was embarrassed because his son still didn't know why he was so excited.

But Claude didn't hate his father's act, instead he liked it very much. After spending five years away from this parental love Claude didn't want to miss it. But even though he liked this parental love his mind set was still the same. Even if his mother tried to improve their relationship Claude won't give in. According to him what his mother did was worse than a crime, she blamed a newborn baby for the mistakes he didn't commit. Claude just thinks that a mother and her child's relationship is so strong that even if a son commits the most hideous crime to the point of a monster, she will still embrace him with the same tenderness of a baby. But his mother didn't even come to see him for his whole five years. At least according to Claude, Amber is just his biological mother. She is nothing like his father who stayed with him even after his death.
