Ending Rites?

"Get me Aisha" Yukio said.

"Yes my lady" The young attendant said, going inside Rudinas room.

A few seconds later a middle aged woman stepped out of the room. She had been inside the room taking a look at Rudina.

Yukio stared at her too scared to ask the question she wanted to ask. Just from a look Aisha knew what her lady, Yukio wanted to say.

"My lady, it has been another failure" She whispered.

"God damnit" Yukio hissed annoyed. Another child gone like it was nothing. How many needs to be sacrificed just to be a Leto?

Yukio couldn't take this anymore. She was so going to quit even though she knew it was impossible. She was going to find a way...any way to quit this.

She couldn't watch another child die over being some God.

"My lady" Aisha called quietly. She knew what Yukio was going through and she understood it.

"Why?! Why?! Why?!" Yukio screamed annoyed. Why is this happening?

"My lady, you need to calm down" Aisha said trying to calm Yukio.

"Are you telling me to calm down? I should calm down? Do you think anybody would be able to calm down in this situation?" Yukio asked, pointing at Rudinas room.

"My la…"

"Aisha, do you think anyone would remain calm in this situation?Do you know how many children this shitty thing has killed?" Yukio asked angrily

"Yes my Lady" Aisha replied "but my lady…"

"Aisha!" Yukio shouted, crying.

"My lady!" Aisha shouted.

The two of them stood staring into each other's eyes breathing heavily.

"My lady you need to calm down and talk to her" Aisha said quietly "You need to do the ending rite. We have to say goodbye to her"

"Do you hear yourself Aisha? We do the ending rites and she dies" Yukio replied, unable to believe what Aisha just said.

If she does the ending rite Rudina might leave for a few months or weeks even worst days before she dies. It would look like a natural thing to others but not to Yukio.

"You don't do the ending rites and she suffers. If you do the rites she would die which isn't nice but if you don't she would leave everyday in pain and she would live everyday wishing she was dead!" Aisha replied.

"But…" Yukio looked down sadly. She didn't want to do this. She didn't want to watch another child die again.

"My lady" Aisha said holding Yukio's hand "I know this is hard but we have to"

Yukio nods her head quietly. She cleaned her eyes, took a deep breath twice and then walked into Rudinas room with a smile.

Aisha looked at Yukio pitifully. It was too obvious that she didn't want to do this but she didn't have a choice. This was part of the job as a Leto.

"Excuse me" Yukio said in a fake happy voice. She was trying her best to pretend everything was alright.

All the attendants around Rudina moved away from Rudina when they heard Yukio's voice.

Yukio sat down beside Rudina, there was a chair beside Rudinas bed.

Rudina watched her quietly.

"Hello Rudina" Yukio said, smiling.

"Hello" Rudina paused "Yukio-Sama.
