Ruins & Inhabitants

Ainz's POV

'Hmmm... What to do?'

It's been a few days from the moment I have decided to prepare this world for the Second coming of my Wife...

That is if she actually returns...

'What a depressing thought... anyways'

I have decided to make something out of this vast land that I'm seeing in front of me.

A Home.

Something I can call my own.

'I'm sure Sera would have loved the things that I'm planning to do'

As I float upon the sky in the middle of the day with my golden wings spread about. I pondered on what I must do first to secure it for development.

Gandalf and Albus has told me that there are quite a few standing ruins of great structures near the coast of Sothoryos.

The northern coast has been mapped, with the ruined cities of Zamettar, Yeen, Gogossos and Gorosh noted, but little else is known of them.

'It's a good thing there was a map amongst the loot that the Angels collected from the Slavers'

Zamettar is a ruined city on the northern coast of Sothoryos. It lies on a large delta, the mouth of the Zamoyos, which what the great river was called.

Yeen is also a ruined city along the Zamoyos River. It is far south of Zamettar at the river delta. It rumored to be the home of some large apes.

'Better investigate that as well. Who knows maybe I am able to commune with them?'

Gogossos on the other hand was once known as Gorgai. It is a ruined city on the Isle of Tears, the largest of the Basilisk Isles. It lies on the southern coast of the island, facing the continent.

It was the Old Empire of Ghis that founded the city. The Ghiscari held Gorgai for between two and four centuries until the Valyrians captured it during the Third Ghiscari War and renamed it as such.

It was said that it is where they dump the worst criminals. They are said to have used slave women to mate with beasts to produce twisted, half-human offsprings.

'Talk about creepy Happy Farms. If Demiurge was here he would no doubt applaud the one who thought of such ingenious idea'

'Was it really possible though? Might as well delve on such experiments in the demented category' I thought as I mused on the potential it holds.

As for Gorosh, it is also a ruined city on the northeast coast of Wyvern Point in Sothoryos.

Wyvern Point being the opposite pointy end of Basilisk Point. Being the former is at the Northeast end while the latter is at the Northwest end of Sothoryos. It is said to be inhabited by wild wyverns, who are believed to be the descendants of dragons.

'Wyverns? Better tame them up! It would be great to have a line of Wyvern Riders up in my arsenal. If not, then they would prove more useful and reliable than Amazon and FedEx in delivering goods'

Somehow, the thought of seeing Wyverns flying about from different directions just to deliver a small package upon its claws came to my mind and it would definitely serve quite a humorous sight.

With that information being retold by old Gandalf and Albus to my Summoned Angels.

I then Instructed the Guardians to venture forth within those said structures and take note of their findings.

I too decided to see the ruins for myself, in particular, the ruins in Yeen.

'Let's meet those Ape-men shall we?'

A week later...

Ainz's POV

There's a lot to take in after my adventures in Yeen but that's a story for another time.

For now? Let's focus on the reports made by the Elder Sages.

Their reports was about their findings on the flora, fauna and the merry weather of Sothoryos.

It has come to my attention that some of them are similar and can be found in most tropical counties in my past world. While others were unique.

Though carnivorous plants is not a new thing, the ones here on the Island, definitely are!

There was this one plant that was basically a huge aromatic flower that gives off a sweet scent to attract prey and once they're near enough, it uses its thorny whip like vines to pierce through the victims' flesh - Barbeque Style - and melts it in its juices. It tricks the prey's brain to think what they're smelling is something familiar or their favorite!

I tried smelling it but the flower actually dared to puke it's juices at me so I burnt it to a crisp. And my hunch was right, the scent was indeed familiar!

'The familiar scent of fire, ashes and death! Hahaha!'

As for the animals, they were quite big, borderline huge in proportions.

There was one time, a giant crocodile went to the surface, trying to gobble up some of the children who were playing at the shore.

It was a good thing an Elder Sage was actually there playing with them.

Once the children were teleported away, the crocodile went to target the Angel. It probably thought it was a humanoid chicken because of its wings.

'Who knew crocodile meat actually tastes like chicken when cooked? How ironic'

I also heard from their reports about that the Basilisk Isles - the group of Islands where I saved the majority of the slaves from - are named after the Basilisk that live there.

They are basically like Komodo dragons, that are large, roughly dog in size. They possess venom and their blood has poisonous properties.

The Elder Sage asked the humans Gandalf and Albus about it and they answered that not only are they famous to create a potent poison for assassination, they are also a very popular animal for use in Fighting pits throughout Essos, made to fight other animals as entertainment.

They originally hail from Yi Ti but somehow migrated through trade. The majority of them that are present in Sothoryos now dwell in a peninsula at the northern coast of the continent of Sothoryos, called Basilisk Point. The Isle of Tears lies to the east of the point

'It was said that they eat young human flesh but feed on mostly fish and other small animals. I wonder how hard they tried to feed it a grown man to draw to that conclusion?'

The Elder Sage also noted swarms of carnivorous fish capable of stripping a man's flesh in minutes.

'As for who was the man the Angel fed to them to know such a thing? I do not know'

The continent was also noted to have swarms with stinging flies - that carries the Red Death with them - and venomous snakes and wasps.

Even the freshwater contains minuscule parasitic worms that lay eggs within anyone who drinks it, may it be horses, hogs, and men.

'With that in mind, I tasked the Elder Sages to create wooden cups and gave each of them the Low Class Item called [Pitcher of Endless Water]'

It's basically the same Item that our Daddy Bones has.

The pitcher was made of a crystal clear glass and is filled to the brim with refreshing water once consumed. Because of the coldness of the water it possesses, numerous water droplets condensed on the surface of the pitcher.

'These flask can produce a constant flow of pure water. So in theory, I could literally create an artificial river or lake with tons of these upturned!'

'It's a good thing Serena gave me a bunch of them for laughs, cause who's laughing now? Me! Hahaha!'

They too also discovered snakes which were almost fifty feet in length, spotted spiders, and the rumored wyverns as well.

'So what the old scholars said was true, they indeed look draconic. No wonder they thought wyverns are descendants of dragons'

'So I guess the delivery services aren't too farfetch now? Hehehe' I thought as I dream of more possible applications once they're tamed.

Further south, it was also noted by them that in the 'Green Hell' - that's what they call the thick and widespread jungles of Sothoryos - there dwell white vampire bats that can drain the blood of a man in minutes.

'6-8 minutes they said, depending on the size... Like, how? I wonder how they got those numbers??'

'Well it really doesn't matter'

The Angel Guardians are about to be finished on their ruins investigation anyways.

'I wonder if they found something as interesting as I did in Yeen?'
