A Lost Fool? More Like A Lost Deer?

She tilted her head as she repeated with a smile plastered on her face, "I need to reach the parking lot soon. I don't stay in dormitories so could you please get aside from the front of the door?"

"Oh...about that. You can't go from here!"

"Huh? Why?" Doubt was debossed deeply in her eyes as she gazed at the door behind his back.

"Helpers would be cleaning the lower floors at this time and if they found someone coming from the terrace, they would not take a second to complain about it."

She was surprised by what he told her, "How much time would it take for them to finish?"

"To clean seven floors- about three hours?"

The girl couldn't help exclaiming with urgency in her voice and fear sprawled on her face, "Three hours?? Then how would I go to the parking lot?"

Lin Yuzhong felt strange hearing her overemphasized words, "Well...there is a way but it would still take about twenty to thirty minutes. Why don't you call your driver to wait till then?"

She should be having her driver waiting for her if she needs to get to the parking lot soon because looking at her age...she can't possibly drive.

A shade of redness straggled her cheekbones as she thought about the shards of her phone that she had violently tossed in the trash. She doesn't get angry easily but today was an unavoidably bad day and to avoid any more of circumstances she ended up coming here on the terrace to pass the remaining day till school got over.

She fidgeted at her place while trying to form the words, "Well...umm...am not having my cell phone with me right now?..."

That came out more as a question but if she were to tell him that she had broken her phone by smashing it angrily on the ground...what kind of image would she be forming of her in his mind?

Lin Yuzhong shot an inscrutable gaze at her before taking out his cell phone and handing it over to her, "Here, use this."

The girl before him surprisingly stared at the phone as if she was not expecting him to straight away pull out his phone and that made him self doubt if he did something unusual and out of ordinary. Wasn't that what people usually do? Hand over their phone if they are not having their own to make a call?

She carefully approached him and picked up the phone from his cold hand which was directed towards her. In while doing so, he felt the light warm touch of her long slender fingers against his cool palm shooting over a convulsing shiver which went up to his arms, straight to the heart.

His fingers trembled a bit as he pulled back his hands and watched her with an enigmatic emotion highlighted on his face.

Unlocking the phone, she opened the dial pad and swiftly typed a set of numbers. As she was about to click on the call, a name popped with the same number.

'Classmate Jiang'

Blinking her eyes, she rechecked the number only to infer that it was correct. Were they classmates? She took a quick peep at him who was having his eyes upon her and clicked on the call.

After just about three rings, somewhat bewildered voice was heard, "Lin Yuzhong? Was there some matter?"

"Yi Ming! It's me."

"Xiao Yue? Isn't it Lin Yuzhong's phone?" He double checked the number before putting it back against his ear but instead of relief he felt slightly troubled.

Lin Yuzhong? Was that the name of this boy?

"Leave that! Tell me, Where are you? Why weren't you picking up your calls?"

"Umm...I am kind of stuck somewhere and...it might take me about half an hour more or so to be back. Could you wait till then?"

"What? Where are you stuck? Is someone bothering you? Tell me your location, I would be there soon!" Following it, the sound of the opening of the door was heard but before he could make another move, he was stopped by her.

"Wait! I am neither in some trouble nor someone is bothering me." Saying so she threw a quick look at Lin Yuzhong before again speaking, "Moreover, I will be there soon. Just give thirty minutes."

A sigh was heard from another side, "Fine! Be here in thirty minutes, grandmother might have called you but you did not pick up so she called me to ask about your whereabouts. I made some random excuse but you know how she is so try to come as soon as possible and what about your phone?"

"Something happened to my phone so I am not having it right now. Till I return, help me in arranging another one, please!"

"Okay."

Just as she was about to cut the call, she heard his unsure voice again, "Is Lin Yuzhong there? Pass him the phone."

By the time he threw his command she had already removed the phone from her ears, his voice echoed loudly making it audible for Lin Yuzhong as well. Knitting his eyebrows, he doubtfully thought who could it be that knew him?

Noticing her reluctance to give him the phone, he uncertainly took the phone and checked the number as well as the name flashing on the screen while putting it to his ears.

"Lin Yuzhong?"

Lin Yuzhong felt a bit off on hearing his classmate's voice. "Jiang Yi Ming?"

"Yes, it's me. Who else is there?"

"No one. Just me and...her."

Feeling it came out a bit wrong in a scandalous manner, he scrubbed the tip of his nose and altered his words, "We got stuck on the terrace and right now helpers are cleaning the down floors."

"Oh! Which building?"

"Sr-1."

"Then you must be planning to come through the backdoor?"

"Right."

"Fine. I don't really have any need to say this to you because I trust you but still out of responsibility...make sure you bring her safely!"

"Alright, I will. You don't have to worry in this regard. I am hanging up the call now."

"Alright."

She was scared out of her wits when Jiang Yi Ming asked to hand over the phone to him. Knowing his personality, he should have already made a fuss about her staying with some other boy alone but... none of that happened?

She was staring at him with a dumbstricken expression. He narrowed his eyes at her, "Why are you looking like a lost...deer?"

He meant to say 'lost fool' but changed on realising who he was speaking to.

"Lost deer....? No, am not!"

Chuckling at her defensive reply he positioned himself in a surrender pose, "Fine you are not! I take back what I said."

Saying so he turned back, pivoting on his heels and started heading towards the small storeroom. The girl felt like killing herself right now due to embarrassment. Who told her to be so defensive? That was just a joke...okay??

Just when she was about to pull her hair in frustration, he twirled around causing her to halt awkwardly. Gazing at her arms which were stretched over her head, she looked back at him and patted her hair before gently moving her fingers through it as in caressing it smooth.

Lin Yuzhong weirdly studied her actions. Why does it feel as if she was about to do something else?

Putting his hands in his pockets, he leisurely let out a sentence, "If you wish to get to the parking lot soon, you need to follow me."

Bringing her arms back to their normal position, she sprinted over to him, "Let's go."

A small smirk took its shape on his lips. If she wasn't deer then what else was she?

Even the way she sprinted was like a deer...

Getting inside the small storeroom, Lin Yuzhong helped her to jump over the cardboard box and after that went straight to stand near the big dusty shelf, "I need your help to push this shelf aside."

"This shelf? Is there something like a route or door behind it?" she was earnestly following him keeping at least five steps between them while insouciantly looking around.

He had thought she would think of him as a fool but she was quick in deciphering the situation.

"Yes."
