Low-Level Monsters

The knights moved in an orderly formation according to their designated orders. Lonz, his knights and one third of Anson's knights now under his command, moved to the high-level with a Rare Barricade Relic just like the Everburning Brazier. This relic was just like the Epic Everburning Brazier, but it lacked the luster of the original. That was because it was manufactured in Arcturus by Relic Engineers according to the Everburning Brazier, whose origins were unknown.

Roe and Commander Anson had already started killing the magma monsters of the mid-level and evacuating people to the church. Marshall Buck's knights were also fighting fiercely in front of the church. He was taking care of the evacuated citizens and bringing them to safety within the church.

As for Edana and Vine, they were on their way towards the low-level, rushing there with everything they had in their body.

Some minutes later, they finally reached the low-level with their knights. Looking at the state of the low-level, they widened their eyes.

"AHH!"

"Help us!"

"My children! Help my children!"

Cries of help and screams of agony reverberated across the low-level.

"Move! Defend the people!" Vine and Edana quickly ordered their knights and moved to action themselves. "Don't underestimate the enemies! Work in teams!" Vine cried out as he attacked two magma monsters with his twin daggers, Fame and Infamy.

Slash Slash

The dagger cut the monsters swiftly, without leaving them time to react. He proceeded to move forward, keeping his momentum and killing any and every enemy he laid his eyes upon.

Edana was the same. She wielded her single-edged sword, Severance, and killed any monsters she came across. The single-edged sword was longer than other of its same kind, with a 38 inched blade, but that wasn't uncomfortable for Edana at all. She looked as natural as a bird flying when she swung the sword around, killing the monsters with the azure hued blade with petal designs on it.

These Relic weapons didn't contain any <Arcane > they could use on their own, but since they were manufactured by the Sacred Order, they were top notch in conducting the Night Essence used by them. In other words, although they didn't contain any <Arcane > of their own, they could be enchanted by the <Arcane > the knights used and what the weapon would do would depend on the <Arcane > the knight used.

For Edana, she chose to use Azure Gaze to enchant Severance, which showed her what path the sword should take next to inflict the most damage in the most efficient way possible. As for Vine, using Night Cloak, he hid the true attack of his daggers, confusing the simple brained monsters.

After killing some monsters, they both realized something and stopped.

"The monsters are weak..." Edana frowned and looked at Vine.

"It will be better to cover more ground." Vine met her gaze and nodded.

Nodding back, Edana ordered the knights to spread around the low-level and evacuate the people, but still stick in teams.

The low-level was being guarded by knights way before they arrived, but the knights couldn't fend off the monsters even though they were weak because of their sheer numbers. So there were many knights who fell in battle or escaped before Edana and Vine arrived.

That's why the low-level was already in ruins. The houses and shops were burning down quickly, corpses of knights and people were lying all over the ground already, and screams and cries of children and people could be heard all over the place.

Hearing the cries of children, Edana widened her eyes. 'The kids!' She had forgotten about Valentina and Cadell, but she couldn't leave the field all of the sudden and head towards them. She gritted her teeth and continued fighting the monsters in front of her.

"Prioritize saving the children first!" Edana barked her orders at the knights as she killed a monster, saving two crying children. Calling her knights, she passed on the children's responsibility to them. 'They're strong kids.. I'm sure they will be fine. And these monsters are not that strong anyways..' Edana clenched her teeth and convinced herself.

She started moving her sword once again, cutting down any monsters who were going after the people or children. Even though she was saving many people with each swing of her sword, seeing dead people and children on the floor made her sad, angry and anxious all together.

If only they were a little bit faster.

If only she was a little bit stronger.

If only they had been a little more prepared.

These kinds of thoughts began to manifest in her mind. Making her more and more angry. But she wasn't the only one feeling like this.

Vine was also killing the monsters like a machine, his blood boiling, veins visible on his forehead and arms which tightly grabbed the twin daggers. With each kill, he lost control of himself piece by piece and went on a killing spree.

He cut down the monsters like a demon incarnate, already lost in his emotions and seeing nothing but red. It wasn't until a monster sliced his arm with it's sharp claw that he awoke from his frenzy and realized what he was doing.

With a deep breath, he tried to control his emotions.

"Huuuu..." Then, with clear eyes once again, he started killing the monsters, which seemed to be spawning from hell endlessly.
