Dinner and debrief

Zeph felt like he should have seen that question coming a million miles away, as Sonya and Laxana tried to ask it earlier in a round about way. He could just say no, and leave it at that. Nixi even said she was not looking for a new owner, just a good ride on him. But he really wasn't sure how to answer the question.

"That is something that we ladies will have to discuss later over dessert. For now let's just call lunch our first date. Also I am a succubus, so things are a bit more complicated than if I was just a little snake beast kin girl. "

"I only asked so that know of I should offer you a ride back here or take you back to the test facility after lunch."

"Back here if you don't mind Instructor Biggs. Laxana come with me down to the motor pool, Sonya I will take you on a ride after dinner if it is okay with Cheif Xerxa. If it is not possible I will make it up to you once I have my own cycle, patrol or personal."

After having to ask one of the maintenance crew where he could find a spare Lepus compatible helmet for Laxana Zeph set the destination as Tom's on LDPD cycle 003's guidance system. He would be piloting manually, but the on board GPS would be less distracting than what is VGPIINNC would be when it came to providing turn by turn navigation.

If Zeph wanted to avoid unwanted attention from those he passed by on their way to Tom's, he was out of luck. Laxana had chosen her barely there black leather strappy outfit to help her compete with her newest competitor Krynienne Orinnixi. Zeph could have drawn less attention running the lights and sirens of the patrol cycle.

Zeph was to focused on the feeling of her pressed up against him as she held onto him tightly while screaming go faster. Unfortunately he had to observe the traffic laws of Los Diablos making it impossible to facilitate Laxana's request without facing rather steep fines and possible disciplinary action. Biggs did teach him some of the regulations about when you could hit the lights and sirens while teaching him in the VR simulator. 

Trying to impress your pet on the way to lunch was definitely not one of the authorized times and he didn't want to test if his black badge allowed him to break those regs on a cycle that belonged to the LDPD.

"Wow, I hope I receive training on cycles soon. That was fun even if you didn't go really fast. How hard was the license exam?"

"I am one of very few that have ever passed on the first attempt, and Nixi will not take it easy on you even if we do end up in a relationship of sorts. The test cycle also has AI that is involved in determining if you passed or failed. Only thing I can do to help is see if The XO and Sr. Instructor Westnight would be willing to allow you to receive the training earlier than you would normally."

Cheif Xerxa was standing at the door waiting for him and noticed that Zeph had an out of uniform passenger.

"Cadet Demonbane, it is against department regulations to have passengers, but I can let it slide as repayment for lunch and bringing it back to my station in one piece. I can't pass that damn exam even after twenty plus attempts, so I will have to impose on you to return it to the station for me."

"No problem Ma'am. Saves me the trouble of asking for your permission to do so in order to make it fair to my other pet Sonya. She and the others should arrive by patrol vehicles shortly. You in on the bets Biggs went around making?"

"Bets? Biggs? You two getting along now."

"Yea, he is the one that taught me how to ride a patrol cycle in the VR simulator. I also wanted to apologize about the time changes to what was supposed to be lunch. I forgot that training started at 06:00 normally. This is likely dinner for you and most everyone else."

"A free meal is a free meal. You can call it lunch or dinner, hell call it breakfast. It likely is for a certain Captain."

It looked like someone had let Tom in on what was going on because Zeph walked in to find that the furniture had been rearranged making him think that the booths were more modular than he thought or just another example of the parts of his thinking that has yet to catch up with the reality he was definitely not in LA anymore.

"Hay Cadet Demonbane, Vaughn and I guess it is instructor Biggs now sent me a message saying that you were coming buy with a small group that includes the succubus riding exam coordinator. First time go, and you are the one buying dinner. They also said to tell you that that the Sr. Instructor already cleared up any confusion about how you said the debrief would be after you returned from lunch. Guessing that you lost track of time or forgot about what time your day started and ended in those twelve hours. You better have plenty of credits. I don't give discounts."

"Not including whatever my cut of Biggs' bets is I got around 5k."

"What don't tell me you gave your pets access to your account and they spend all your credits."

"I give them an extremely generous allowance of three hundred a day, but between them and whatever my service and companion drone Lilly spent it was only around six hundred or so credits. I just received a deposit from Central. Something about a bonus. Will have to ask the XO or building main about it after the debrief."

"So, what we talking Rookie, you know they are going to drive that tab up. Especially if they lost a bet because of your unbelievable first time go on the license exam. It is tuff from what I remember. So that it has not gotten easier since I got my license."

"Unless you want to see the name of this place change Tom, don't ask how much is in my account."

"Sal! You are working late today. Fire up the grill. We got a rookie with more credits than brains and he ain't dumb."

Two thousand credits later it was Sonya's turn to get her tail lit on fire, and the speed limit between Tom's and LDPD was much higher thanks to part of the route making use of an express lane design for cross city travel. Sonya got to experience a much more thrilling ride than what Laxana did on the surface streets.

Biggs and Sr Instructor Westnight had to use the autopilot feature to return to HQ thanks to being above the legal limit of BAC (blood alcohol content).

"Krynienne, I am going to have to ask that you not repeat anything you overhear as it is not normal for anyone outside of the squad and instructor to be present during the daily debriefing given primarily by the squad leader. You are Cadet Demonbane's guest and I do not have the authority to ask you to leave ES zero zero one. Only the Cadet has say in who is and is not permitted to be in it including me."

"I will just go make myself comfortable in one of the other rooms. I already know how the last part of his training day went, and I don't want to hear any more about the code book than what I did during dinner."

"Cadet Demonbane, please give a brief explanation of any of the codes you can remember that you feel might add to the training your squad members receive today on contacts with civilians while out on patrol. We can end with a viewing of your exam. I am sure that it will be used as a training tool for those seeking to acquire a patrol cycle license."

"One code or set of codes that should be helpful if you keep it in mind as you go over patrol and interrogation procedures and protocol standards are the ones that pertain to resisting arrest, feeling from a crime scene, and attempted escape from custody, and the differences and similarities between them."

"Say this room is a crime scene that was called in or noticed my me the officer out on patrol. Say the crime was Candi trying to take advantage of an intoxicated Sr. Instructor Westnight. While I am arriving on scene I notice that Laxana who is not directly involved in the alleged crime running towards the telapod pad. Which code should I use to call in for backup regarding her?"

Requested video being displayed now. Records indicate that additional video file was deleted from test facility servers by the test coordinator and only the backup copy on the coordinator's VGPIINNC would potentially remain.

After watching the video footage of his exam and hearing about the six hours of being stuck on a room with a giant physical book squad one understood why Zeph likely forgot that training started at 06:00 and not 0:00 It was also only his second day, probably why Chief Xerxa was as understanding as she was about his mix-up of lunch and dinner as easily as they did.

That or her surprise over actually getting cycle 003 back.
