Escaping

As they were talking amongst themselves, Long Chen was steadily creeping up to them.

He could sense a faint presence of a group people surrounding the boundaries, and they were most likely the assassins sent to kill him.

He was lucky that he had been hunting and killing many monsters lately, if not his senses would not have been that acute to notice their presence.

It took him a long time of careful watching before he found that they were exactly 5 people around, with an additional cultivator which was much harder for him to sense.

But as he did so, his eyes involuntarily narrowed into a slit. He…was floating above the ground!

Chen Yu Yang had actually sent a Sky Realm cultivator to assassinate him.

His task would be much harder with the presence of such a character. His brows scrunched up for a moment as he tried to think a way out of this situation.

That was when he thought about his disguise skill. His speed was still not quick enough to escape right in front of the eyes of a Sky Realm cultivator, but if he managed to pull away a bit of distance by using his disguise skill to wade away suspicion, he was confident that he would be able to successful ran away.

But before doing escaping, how could he not deal some damages to Chen Yu Yang?

Although he was unable to deal with the Sky Realm cultivator, he could kill of the rest of them, who he could feel were merely in the High-Tier Elementary Realm, with 3 of them within the 8th Elementary Realm and the other 2 within the 9th Elementary Realm.

Surpassing a Great Realm to fight off a Sky Realm cultivator was not something he could do at the moment, but surpassing one of two Realm was something he would be able to do easily.

To make sure that no one notices his sly movements, Long Chen first put on his disguise, before he sneakily moved up against the nearest assassin.

One good thing was that they were all separated, so it made it easier for him to pick them off one by one.

On the other hand, the assassins were still oblivious to the movements of Long Chen, as they continued their hearty discussion.

"Young Master Chen says that he will reward us with a 500 crystals if we complete this mission. Do you think that he would actually do so?"

"Tsk. Even if he was to reward 500 Crystals, most of it will still go towards that Sky Realm cultivator. All we get is only the leftovers."

"Eh! Don't talk about him like that. No matter what, he is still considered as our superior. What if he hears us?"

It was at this moment that Long Chen had reached a fairly close distance to one of the assassins.

He swiftly dashed towards the assassin, who had by then, noticed his presence and widened his eyes in shock.

He opted for the skill with the quickest strike, and aimed it towards the man's neck.

The man hurriedly lifted his weapon to block out the strike, but his speed was far slower than his astonishingly quick sword ray, which silently pierced into the man's neck.

No blood had spurted out after his strike, with the only thing that changed, was the dullness within the man's eyes.

He fell to the ground, and Long Chen used his Elemental Qi to weaken the impact of his fall so that the sound will not alarm the others.

Long Chen noticed that this Elementary Realm man in front of him didn't possess that great of a talent either, as compared to his subordinate's talent in the past, so it most likely meant that he had reached his current state with cultivation resources.

After he extracted the storage bag from his body, he used his Elemental Qi to destroy his corpse. Then, he turned his head to look towards the direction of his next target.

He had to be very swift, if not he was sure that they will be able to find out that there was something wrong.

With a flash, he quickly moved to the next place.

The 5, now 4 man, were still speaking onto their communication jades.

"Hey, Brother Juan, how is the new batch going on?"

"I don't know. Maybe a few more days, before I can start to unrestrainedly enjoy!"

"Hehe, when you get the goods, share some with me too."

"Brother Juan, are you still there?"

"He just doesn't want to answer you! Why would he want to share such great stuff with you for?"

That was when the assassin started to realize that they were something very wrong. How could they all suddenly go silent?

A sense of unease crept up his spine, as his hair started to stand on end. With wary eyes, he looked around his four corners vigilantly, his hand now tightly gripping onto his weapon.

"I'm here!" The assassin abruptly heard a voice coming from his back, and a profound danger enveloped his senses.

However, he only had the time to turn his head back and take a glance at his killer, before he slumped down onto the ground.

Long Chen did the usual, taking his storage bag as his spoil, while destroying his corpse.

When this was done, he looked towards the direction of the Sky Realm cultivator.

There was only one path to exit the forest and return to the city, and it was where the Sky Realm cultivator was standing at.

First, he wore back his robes that reeked of monster blood, and also smearing some of the blood around his body, making himself seem like he was injured.

He slightly hunched his back, and with his disguise on, he looked like a typical monster hunter who went to the forest to hunt for monsters and sustained damages on the way back.

After this was done, he nodded his head in satisfaction, before he began to make his way out of this region.

He slowly walked along the sole path, and it took a bit of time before he reached the way of the Sky Realm cultivator who just stood there motionlessly.

Seeing Long Chen, the Sky Realm cultivator expressionlessly peered into his eyes and released an invisible pressure, and Long Chen, acting like a normal hunter, fell onto the ground under this pressure, while his eyes that stared towards the Sky Realm cultivator was full of fear and trepidation.

It was only after seeing this that the Sky Realm cultivator was pleased, and he then ignored Long Chen's presence.

While Long Chen was walking away with shivering legs, he could faintly hear the Sky Realm cultivator mumble in dissatisfaction to himself, "When will that rat ever come out? I have been here for more than a week, and this is a complete waste of my time. When he comes out, I will definitely skin him alive for wasting so much of my time."

Long Chen's eyes flashed with a cold glint that quickly disappeared, and he strode away from the Sky Realm cultivator, who was dying to find and catch him.
