(CHAPTER 38: ACADEMY)
"I will report this to the council. You got one month to learn all you got. The raid will be started earlier. Get the top rank within this month, if not you won't be qualified to join it."
His words still echoes in my ear as the two of us walk down the street. Top rank, a full semester, a month. Shit, this is way too much for me. I rubbed me head and let out a groan. The moon is starting to rise, and more beings of all kind started to emerge, beginning their day. "Breakfast?" I stare at Aiko beside me. "Breakfast!" She smiled, that damn smile made my day better, at least for now.
"Carrot cakes for one. I will take some red bean buns." The two of us stood in front of a stall beside and ordered. The octopus monster used his eight tentacles to swiftly finish our order and hand them to us. "Day one for school boy?" The boss asked, still working on other orders, his stall is packed fill as passer-by, grabbing a quick snack on their way. "Who's the girl, your girlfriend?" "No, thank you." I handed him the gold coins, trying to hide my panic and the goddamn blush emerging. "Wait, free to bring me kid to tag along?" The moment we tried to leave, the boss suddenly asked. "As you can see, I am out of hands. And he is a idiot in terms of directions." He let out an awkward smile.
"Yor san?" I asked, mouth still full of the sweet red bean filling. "His name is Siden by the way." He let out a smile before turning back and shouted. "OI!! SIDEN!! FUCK OUT HERE!!" That sudden change of attitude, I never expected it. After a few seconds, a young man stumble out from the shop behind, half asleep. "What's the fuss old man." He rubbed his messy turquoise hair and yawned.
"You got an hour before going late to the academy. And you dare ask!?" The boss used his two tentacles to grab onto his collar and yelled at his face. "I am always late, I think they get used to it already." He waved his hand in frustration, his over sized pyjamas was dangled to the ground. "GET DRESSED, RIGHT FUCKING NOW!!" The boss roared at his face before tossing him back into the shop, alongside with a crash as if he slam right into a shelf or something. He turn his face towards us and switch to a smile. "Wait for a sec, he will be here soon."
"Your name is Seidon huh." I asked as the three of us walk down the street. He nodded, nibbling on the seafood rice cake his dad prepared for him. He didn't seem to be interested to chat with us, so we just continue to walk, awkwardly. Me and Aiko at the front while Siden following us quietly at the back. I take a quick glimpse at him, he is a short, skinny kid with huge watery ocean blue eyes. With emerald scales on the side of his face and poking beneath the sleeves of his school uniform. He is always at a sleepy, blank state, ready to doze off any second right now.
"Here is the academy." The three of us stopped in front of a gigantic build nested in the middle of the bustling city. The walls of the academy was huge, almost ten meters tall, with a gigantic gate that was wide open like the mouth of a beast. The moment we walk into it, we are instantly impacted by the glorious structures, at least the two of cause, cause Seidon didn't give a fuck to anything. "Where are we heading?" I asked Seidon. He didn't reply and just headed straight towards one of the box structure in front of us. We look and each other for a moment before following him, since we found out everyone is heading towards that too.
The structure was in fact a great hall, with thousands of students packed within it, cramped bustling. And though the crowd, we soon lost track of Seidon. "When is this thing starting." Me and Aiko stood side by side, leaning against each other to avoid being pushed away from the crowd. It is hot, cramp and noisy in here, any second in here is pure crime. Aiko seems she is about to faint, and that darn slime monster kept squishing towards her.
"MY BELOVED STUDENTS!"
Finally, shit is starting.
"WELCOME TO THE ACADEMY ONCE AGAIN! FOR A FRESH NEW SEMESTER!!" The light within the great hall was closed, through the darkness I could hear the cheers and hoots of the monsters, alongside the silhouette of a man ascending onto the stage. "It was I!!" The lights were turned on all of a sudden, and was focused onto the figure. "Your beloved headmaster!"
"MADAM KISS!" The cheer grew louder, following by the crazy whistling sound. Students were clapping, going nuts, only I stood there and stare in shock. Isn't her? The lady I met before? Alongside Fei and my dad? She is my dad's current wife, so my stepmom? Damn, she is also the headmaster of this academy? Shit, I am stepping on many wrong foots here. She seem to notice me amongst the crowd, the smile on her face froze for a second but immediately recover. She walk from side to side of the stage, greeting the students. Felt more like a concert rather than a assembly but whatever, teen these days are horny ass fucks.
"Just like the last semester. We will begin by sorting you up!" She snap her finger and a gigantic board was dropped down. She took out a pointing stick from her waist and pointed. "So, step one! Testing!" She pushed the glasses up, acting all professional. I still remember she was wearing a sexy ass kimono back then, why did she changed back to her formal teacher outfit? Believe me, showing more skin will make these jack off teens work twice as hard. "Each of you will be squared up on a game of bravery, power and wisdom! Are you all, ready!!" The crowd cheer even louder, I started to feel uneasy. I take back what I said about this being a concert, felt more like a fucking cult.
"LET THE TEST BEGIN!!"
