Chapter 6 FREEDOM and time skips

As I opened my eyes, I jumped out of bed. It had been a full year since I started working at the barracks. I looked at my system prompt floating in front of my face. It started a couple of days after my first day in the barracks.

I coughed awkwardly as I closed the notification. It's not my fault all the quests are boring and tedious. My father has still been spoiling me constantly but I have started to not let it go to my head as much. I still drag Suzy along to prank and cause so much mischief. It is fun watching the adults get so flustered!

"Amadea hurry up come down for breakfast" my father's voice echoed throughout the house as I got dressed in a light white dress I let my hair flow down it has gotten very long reaching the middle of my back. I made my way downstairs and saw a table filled full of food.

"Thank you Daddy!" I gave my father a quick kiss on the cheek and dug into the food on the table. Since my bloodline is so strong, I have been starting to eat more to get the nutrients I need to grow. Thank god, well Daddy because I love the flavor of the food here so much and I can eat as much as I want without getting fat.

"Anything for the birthday girl happy 6th birthday princess" He kissed my cheek and wiped the food from my lips before chuckling. "Plan on going out and playing with Suzy again today?"

I nodded as I finished the rest of my food. "I have to keep my servants happy. I don't want her to try and leave after all" I bounced up to my feet taking off towards her house.

"Come on Ama let's go to our spot and spar. I swear to beat you this time" Seeing her bright smile as she dragged me to our spot to fight and play.

Every time Suzy grabs my hand my face gets red I really like the feeling of her soft hand but I would never let her know that. "I will let my humble servant to hold my hand but don't forget to ask permission" Hmphh I need time to prepare myself.

Days came and went and I spent my time just relaxing and playing games. It has been a short almost 3 years. My 10th birthday is in a few days and I still have not awakened my mana core. I really don't mind. I really don't mind being average in this life.

I shrugged as I closed out the notification and got ready. I went with a white shirt and some nice pants. Putting my hair up into pigtails I finished my look and ran downstairs. There was some bread and a pouch of money on the table with a note.

I picked up the note and began to read it -Dear princess, there is a beast tide coming so I went with the guards to help crush it before it reaches our town. I will be home in 2 days' time just in time for your birthday. Take this money and buy some food NO CANDY. Take care, love dad-

Hmph he won't know what I buy. I counted out the money and saw 20 gold pieces. My eyes shined and I thought about buying a new dress for Suzy and telling her how I feel how I truly think of her as my best friend, not some dog or servant.

I let out a sigh. I never was good with displaying my emotions always keeping my heart locked up tight but no more. It felt like shackles being lifted off of my shoulders as I started walking toward Suzy's house.

"Suzylet'ss go shopping I wanna buy some clothes and I need someone to carry the bags" I smiled thinking about how her face would light up when I used an excuse to make her try on the dress and buy it for her before telling her my feelings.

"Ama before we go shopping can we go to our spot? I left some things there by mistake last night and really want to get it before I forget" She gave me those big puppy eyes and I could not help but agree I can get her the dress a bit later.

As I followed Suzy it seemed oddly more quiet than normal. The birds and rabbits were nowhere to be found. She was about 10 steps in front of me trying to urge me to speed up.

"Slow down Suzy there is no reason to rush" I shook my head as I got distracted and tried to catch up to her speeding up my steps. As we got closer to our spot she suddenly stopped and turned to face me. Her face lit up beautifully and I ended up stopping. Getting lost in her eyes and smile I could not help but smile as well.

"Now!!" I heard Suzy shout out confusing me before I felt a sharp pain in the back of my neck before my vision went black.

I lost track of time as it felt like my body was floating for days my mind was cloudy. I wanted to open my eyes but they felt heavy like iron. Listening to my surroundings I heard voices talking in hushed tones.

A raspy voice sounded "We will be rich thanks to you girl. Her father will be gone for days. By then we will have what we need and you will be free from her" He chuckled and it sounded like nails digging into my ear. Who was he talking to? That's when I heard the familiar sweet voice of Suzy.

." Don't forget you said I can take my revenge on her for all these years of treating me like trash" Her voice was harsh and filled with hatred. I never would have thought she would think like that sure I called her names but I believed I treated her well.

I managed to speak softly my voice hoarse still too weak to open my eyes. "W-why are you doing this. What do you want from me?". Near the end of my sentence I started coughing. My throat felt like it was being pricked with hundreds of needles. My heart ached to hear her words hurt me. She never once voiced out how my words hurt her.

"You see I heard this man talking about needing blood from a special bloodline and he was willing to pay a lot of gold enough for me and mom to move to a big city and live a good life. As a bonus I get to blow off some steam and get revenge. It is a win-win situation. Maybe in your next life you will be a good person" Suzy sneered at me as I felt some tears roll down my cheek.

"D-d-daddy please…. I'm scared" I whimpered my word being met with a fierce slap making my ears ring. I tried to break free from my restraints but I had no skills or any training to free myself. All I could do was pray that my dad would realize something was wrong.
