Chapter 1: The 30th time

Jake found himself waking up to another day at Westfield High for students to learn to control their supernatural abilities. Born with no ability, he lived his life at school getting bullied. His friends; Sam and Quinn and of course, his parents were his only support. He hated everyone at the school including himself for being so useless. Everyone at the school judged people because of their low ranks and their weaknesses. Any Rank below Rank 25 were respected because of how powerful they were. And any Rank above Rank 30 were considered weaklings and fools. Rank 0, a very powerful rank had been lost for years only to be obtained 50 Years later by a boy whose name and location is unknown.

The World isn't just filled with people with powers. In every story there must be a villain and these monsters called Iija's have gladly taken that role. They come in many shapes and sizes. They have a high regenerating ability. They may have strength that can surpass even that of a god. They also may have three or ten arms or legs to support them. These monsters need human flesh to live or else they die. Iija's have been known to attack in various villages, towns or even big cities. The invasion was caused by one ability and one ability only.

One day, an Iija discovered a transformation ability on one of the planets they inhabited, and a whole lot too. They managed to divide it amongst themselves giving them the power to shapeshift into anything they wished including human beings. But as they grew stronger , it made it easier to find how powerful an Iija is. An ordinary Iija has one spike on its back. But if an Iija has more than two spikes, we humans run. Only one person can successfully kill an Iija with more than 2 spikes and that is Rank 0. But that is another story.

Jake was weak and he knew it. He was a rank 200 , and because of this no one felt the need to talk or bully Jake. Suddenly he felt cold water pour over him. He opened his eyes and saw two silhouettes looking down at him. His vision was blurry, so he sat up and put on his glasses. I spoke too soon, no one except these two bothered Jake.

" WAKE UP SLEEPYHEAD! RISE AND SHINE! ANOTHER DAY OF FEELING USELESS IS HERE! " a voice shouted.

" Harry, Maybe he's just tired of trying to get a six pack", the other voice sneered trying to hold back laughter.

" Tom, are you talking about these waffles?" the boy named Harry exclaimed as he poked Jake hard in the ribs. Jake held back a scream. It was too early for this, but there was nothing he could do about it. He had to deal with this before class. Harry was 17; a year older than Jake and he was Rank 70. The other boy, Tom was Jake's age and was Rank 91. However, as the two continued to taunt and throw insults at him, Jake didn't speak. He knew if he began, By the end of the day he would be in the nurse's office trying to recover from three broken bones and a swollen forehead. He had to become stronger somehow. He would do anything. Then he would show Harry what it felt like being bullied.

' What a sick world", Jake thought.

Classes started normally as usual. Announcements were made. Many people were up and down chattering about an excursion to take place the next week. Jake entered he classroom and sat down. Soon his friends, Sam and came rushing in and greeted their friend.

" Sup Jake", Quinn said as he sat down.

Jake smiled as they both high-fived. Meanwhile Sam was busy staring at Jake's face. Quinn turned to him smiling knowingly.

" Come on Man, I knew you were gay but not to the extent where you stare at people's faces like that", He said as he waved his eyebrows at him.

" I'm not! Retard!" Sam retorted as he folded his arms, his face red. Jake didn't notice and kept staring at the figure ahead of Sam. Quinn noticed and followed Jake's eyes to a particular boy talking to a girl and his guy friends. He then turned his attention to Jake.

" You still have a crush on that guy? I can tell he doesn't like you. Sorry, Jake", Quinn said.

" I don't Quinn", Jake said and looked away from the boy.

" Jake, did you know that today is Rank Change day? Your rank might increase!"

Rank Change day was a special day where students would be able to see their new ranks. it happened every 4 months meaning the amount of training a person did during that time would help him increase his rank. Right now, Jake is Rank 250 but he doesn't bother himself to train knowing that people would make fun him. All he had to do was to wait and see.
