"Grandpa, I'm fine." Amanda Smith showed her completely unswollen face to Mr. Johnson, soothingly said, "Samuel was just playing around with me, don't worry too much."
Mr. Johnson touched Amanda's face and, confirming that there truly were no marks left, he sighed in relief. Hearing Amanda still explaining for Samuel, he sighed helplessly, "Amanda, don't spoil the boy too much. If I don't discipline that rascal a bit more, will he not become even more presumptuous?"
Amanda couldn't help but want to laugh, "Grandpa, how am I spoiling Samuel?"
Mr. Johnson looked at Amanda and pulled her to sit down on the couch, saying, "Amanda, I know you like that boy Samuel, but sometimes, don't be too stubborn. Take care of yourself more, you know?"
A smile seized up slightly on Amanda's face, "Grandpa…"
"I'm getting old, and I fear one day, I won't be able to protect you." Mr. Johnson patted the back of Amanda's hand earnestly, "Amanda, although I hope you could marry him, but if Samuel truly isn't willing, there's nothing I can do. The boy is still too young and spoiled by the family. Remember, don't be foolish. Don't give him your all, you know? It's not worth it."
Not worth it.
Even Samuel's own grandfather said it's not worth it.
But how can you measure liking someone with worth? Having liked him for so many years, I've already lost everything to it. Talking about all this now, what's the point…
"I know, Grandpa." Amanda pressed her face against Mr. Johnson's hand, "I really do know, Grandpa."
Why state it so clearly? Her heart was clearer than anyone's, Samuel didn't love her…
She slightly closed her eyes, her lips frozen with a bitter smile.
But what good does understanding do? Liking someone is liking them, what can you do about it?

Amanda went upstairs to change into work clothes, but as soon as she entered the room, the door was kicked open.
With a loud "Bang!", Amanda, who had been searching for clothes in front of the wardrobe, was startled!
She quickly looked up and saw Samuel Johnson, already changed into a different set of clothes, standing in the doorway with his arms crossed, staring at her coldly.
The man's icy gaze filled her with alarm. She involuntarily took a step back, softly calling out, "Samuel…"
Samuel let out a cold laugh, then shut the door behind him.
Now, in Amanda's spacious bedroom, it was just her and Samuel.
Being stared at with such eyes by a man made Amanda somewhat afraid. She clenched the clothes in her hand and summoned the courage to say, "Samuel, could you go out for a bit? I need to change clothes."
Samuel didn't speak but moved in front of Amanda with his arms still crossed. He raised his head and looked at the face before him, startled and uneasy, and he started to laugh coldly. "Oh, scared now?" He reached out and pinched Amanda's chin, tilting her head as he spoke maliciously, "Didn't expect someone like you to be scared, huh? When you were tattling, you didn't seem to be scared!"
