James was busy arranging the kitchen... actually the word arranging was the totally opposite of what he was doing. By the time he was finished so was the kitchen, though he managed to get something on the plate before taking it to his girlfriend.
He forced a smile "Hey babe did I keep you waiting?."
"Ahh what took you so long?" She asked weakly.
"Umm that..." He scratched his nape in embarrassment. "I made something for you" he changed the subject.
"What's that?" she said sitting up.
"It's my signature... dish?" he sounded doubtful looking at the plate.
"Oh really... Can I have a taste?" She really loved his cooking.
"Yeah course it's all yours" he said putting it on the side table.
"Hmm wow" she really couldn't get enough of his cooking. "So what did you prepare?"
"Huh?" He was acting dumb.
"Babe you said you will prepare something, remember?"
"Ahh. yes. that" he was finding a way out of this predicament. "And I did. You see, you just ate it."
"What? James you can't be serious, that was just like an appetizer" she panicked.
"Okay calm down. Why don't we just order something or go out for dinner"
"Babe we are cooking for your grandparents not me" she stood up holding his hands "look try to understand that I want a homemade food not some take out for them"
Why couldn't he understand that.
"Hmm I get it" he smiled to reassure her. "I'll go get it done babe" he left after sitting her down again.
That kitchen might need saving.

"I just received a call that they flight got cancelled" James said calmly.
He was expecting that too happen anyways, he is only disappointed that he painstakingly cooked a large meal all thanks to Theo's persistent.
"Did they tell you when they'll be coming?" She inquired.
He almost smacked his head, why couldn't she be disappointed with the news, instead she was waiting for their return without wondering about the large food he made.
"No." he was tired, completely stressed out.
"You should go rest you look like you will need a massage" she pointed out.
He smiled smugly, hell yes! a massage from his babe, in the room, was all he needed. He thought mischievously.
"Uh huh" he took her hand immediately. "I really need that babe I can't feel my back, my neck, my hands..."
"I get it babe" she interrupted.
"Are you disappointed that they couldn't make it?" he voiced his worries.
"No I am not" she shook her head "I'm just sad that we actually prepared for a family reunion but all thanks to the weather now everything was a waste" she pouted.
Oh so she did care about their wasted resources, still he tried to lighten her mood.
"Come on babe we knew it would likely happen especially with the upcoming typhoon, I mean isn't that the reason you have all of me to you for days now" he spoke and she blushed.
"Can you stop being romantic all the time and even with an upcoming typhoon."
"No I possibly can't even if I try." He was already leading her upstairs to his room. Actually their room, since they started dating three months ago when he found out she was scared of thunder just like him.
Rain was his weakness, it reminded him of his past and that sorrowful day that took away two precious people from his life, leaving him with a phobia yet all he could do was put on a headphone to drown the loud noise cause by the thunder everytime it rains.
Until that fateful day she ran into his room without knocking, she buried herself under the quilt holding it tightly. He woke up feeling his personal space was being invaded, he turned around, his chest bumped into something.
'What was that' he reached for the light then took off his headphone "The heck"he muttered in shock.
He sat there looking at the sleeping face, the soft features had a slight frown. In his confused state he tapped her gently and watch her held onto the duvet tightly as if her life depends on it.
Few more times and she woke up with a gasp starring at him with wide eyes, she gasp again and almost fell off the bed if he hadn't caught her in time with a swift movement which brought them close.
"What are you doing in my room?" Her voice was high leaving a hint of accusation.
"I should be the one asking that" he knew she had trust issues but so did he, that was why they were starring at each other like a suspect in a crime case.
"Huh? Excuse you? you're in my room...you're a lawyer so I'm sure you know I can sue you for this" she kept on with her accusations.
"Oh yeah..?" He leaned down bringing them even closer "you're right, I'm a lawyer so I can also sue you for false accusations and for this as well" looking around he continued "I'm sure I would win the case because this is my room and my bed" he locked their gaze with the last speech.
Looking at the unfamiliar room with the familiar scent she slowly recalled the loud thunder and how she sleepily ran through the dim hallway, getting into a room then drowning in his scent that gave her comfort.
Wait! His scent? His room! She is in his room! her eyes almost popped out in shock, she jumped out off bed which he frowned upon.
