Escape from Maduville (2)

I hasten to recover all my objects in the room, finished recovering everything, I go out with Jusy towards the back exit of the inn, and together we run towards the exit of the town of Maduville.

It was time for dinner, the sky had already turned black, the stars filled this empty space. I positioned myself in front of the entrance to the inn, holding my two daggers, which have accompanied me for all the adventures I have undertaken in my years as an adventurer. A light evening breeze caresses my face, touches my short gray hair, as I enjoy this moment of tranquility, I hear footsteps, they were heavy.

At that moment nobody was passing on this road, certainly the work of the Laten family, so I can understand who is approaching me.

A few meters away I recognize the group that is approaching, there were about ten of them, figures in full armour, they were the soldiers of the Laten. The Laten family does not have an armed group of soldiers with custom armor, they are simple soldiers who patrol and protect the town.

Their armor covers their entire body, the color of this armor is a gray that tends to silver, with one of the two shoulder straps colored red, the various belts that keep the armor tied are also red. 'The colors of the imperial family, how many soldiers I've killed when I was a hit man...' I think back to how many murders I've carried out for a fee.

The soldiers are led by a boy who gallops a beautiful white steed. This boy has onyx black armor, which contrasts with the armor of the soldiers. They stop a few meters in front of me.

"Old man, this is the last warning...give us the girl." The boy with the blond hair tries to cajole me one last time, but obviously it doesn't have any effect.

"I refuse." I get into attack position, with the two daggers, it's the pose I used when I had to fight face to face with the enemy. 'Darion, please... hurry up and leave town with my niece, I can't buy much time.'

"So you've decided...kill him and hurry up, the count doesn't like wasting time." From the top of his horse, the boy commanded the soldiers, who immediately rushed at me.

'These soldiers...they are all in the 20th rank of power.' I too rushed against these soldiers, with the idea of buying as much time as possible for the two boys.

I collide with the first soldier, we exchange several blows with our blades. Apparently they are not using the Astra, they are underestimating me because I no longer have the ability to make power flow through me, it will be a fatal mistake.

"But what?!" The soldier is taken aback and I manage to stab his neck, which was not protected by armor. Between gargles, the soldier falls to the ground, trying to stop the flow of blood with his hands, but it was all in vain.

"What are you idiots doing?! Use the astra, without it you won't be able to face this old man!" The boy angrily yells at the men at him, frustration evident in his voice.

In front of me the soldiers activate their class, and together they attack me. 'Good luck guys, Jusy, I love you, I will always watch over you.'

We have almost reached the gates of the town of Maduville, the only problem left is to overcome the guards guarding the exit.

"We need to see how many there are first." I crouch behind a box placed in an alley, from here I can see the gates of Maduville.

'1,2,3..8, there are eight guards by the exit, and I can sense that they are currently at the 20th power rank...we have no hope of breaking through against that number of enemies.' We need a solution, it's fast.

Wait, I have an idea, it won't be a wise move, but we have to try. I look at Jusy, who is crouched next to me at the moment, looking down, with an air of sadness around her. I position myself in front of Jusy, I grab her by the shoulders.

"Jusy, I know right now you're lost in your pain, and I can't tell you that with time it will pass, because most likely it won't... but you have to move on, you have to learn to live with this pain But you won't be alone, I'm here with you, I will always be there to support you, but this is the best I can do, support you, it is you who has to give you the strength to keep going. And one of those moments is right now, without you we won't get through that arc , we need your power." I look straight into her eyes, trying to get her to react in some way.

She looks up and looks at me. "Am I capable of doing such a thing? My grandfather is dying because of me, and…and I'm running away." Her eyes water, announcing her tears. I can't watch her cry, I kiss her lips, taking her by surprise.

"Jusy, it's not your fault, but those who want to hurt you, but we won't let that happen... but to do that we have to fight back, we have to do it for Gald too." I break the kiss and stroke her cheek. "You are with me?"

"Yes…as long as you're by my side, I can do it, Darion. I love you." This time it is she who kisses me, and I accept her affection for her, but I cannot allow the enemy to have more time.

"Come on Jusy, it's time." I explain to Jusy what to do to try to pass the arc of the town of Maduville. She nods and together we run towards the exit.

"Hey! Stop! What are you going to do?" The guards spot us and draw their swords, but don't activate their class, allowing us to carry out our plan.

"Now Jusy!" I signal to Jusy, she lifts the staff and a light passes through it, but then focuses on the stone above the tip of the staff. The stone begins to give off a blinding light, which strikes the eyes of the guards.

"Damn it! What is this damn light?!" They are stunned, it's our time. These days I have learned to channel the astra throughout the body, increasing my physical abilities. I grab Jusy like a princess and start piling the astra on my legs, then start running. We pass the arch unscathed, it's at great speed, we head towards the woods.

"What's going on here?" A blond boy arrives at the Maduville gate, and immediately sees the gate guards stunned by Jusy's spell.

"Mr, the two boys managed to get through here-" The soldier who spoke is kicked on the head, knocking him to the ground.

"Idiots! How did you let two children escape?! And why the hell didn't you close the gate?" He angrily yells at the guards.

"We..." Another guard tries to speak, but is interrupted by the boy.

"I'm not interested in your apologies, hurry up and follow them!" He orders the guards to go after Darion and Jusy.

The soldiers don't have to repeat it twice and immediately activate their warrior class and start running at high speed to chase the two boys.

"My father will decapitate me if I don't bring him Jusy, damn that girl. When I have her in her hands, I will make her cry under me for all the trouble she is causing me." A sinister smile emerges on the boy's face that is rather disgusting.
