Hope

Damon's mind was a rollercoaster as he drove home. It was just weird the way she knew his intention as if she had somehow read his mind - which absolutely doesn't make sense. 

Truthfully, Damon had planned to take her to that field - it had a great view of the city - there he would apologize for all his bad behaviors and tempt her into kissing him just to end the urge. 

Although Damon hated to admit it his mother was right. The urge to be with Nessa was ever-growing even though he fought against it. But he was not the type to surrender without a fight. 

Ever since that day they fought, he has been doing his best to avoid her until tonight. Damon didn't know how to stop himself so he just went ahead with whatsoever crazy idea there was in his head. 

Yes, he kissed her, but that was just the curse making him do such stuff. The urge to be with her was turning him into someone else, making him do things he'd have probably never done in his life.
