Pokemon Battle I

After Loki mentioned about the Pokemon Battle, the 6 teens were understandably excited. Under his guidance, they began to inspect the ability and moves of their pokemon with the help of their pokedex.

The pokedex held all the information about their pokemon, so they were able to better understand their pokemon and their fighting capabilities.

Loki closed the store and brought his family out for a field trip. The 6 teens and 2 pandas followed behind them diligently.

Needless to say, the large number of otherworldly creatures gathered a lot of attention.

Loki brought all of them to the harbor. This place was only a few minutes walk from his base. It was spacious and filled with hundreds of audiences, perfect for the first pokemon battle in Tevyat.

"Are we going to have the pokemon battle here?"

Yunjin asked in an unsure tone as she looked around the busy harbor. Due to their unique appearance, most of the people in the harbor was looking at them curiously.

"Not exactly here. But there."

Loki pointed at the sea. Without elaborating anymore, he began to float in the air. He floated to nearly 10 meters from the ground and began to speak in a loud voice.

"Ladies and Gentlemen."

His calm and authoritative voice spread throughout the entire harbor and nearby residental areas, immediately gathering the attention of everyone that heard him.

"My name is Loki. I am the owner of the Pokemon Studio, the humble store that sell otherworldly products."

"Some of you may have visited my store, while some of you may have heard them in passing. Even if you haven't heard about my store, you must have surely heard about the adorable and cute clerk from my store."

He gestured at Frost with his hands. A lot of eyes were immediately gathered on Frost and the large group of otherwordly creatures.

"What are we? Where are we from? All of you must have a lot of questions regarding our identity. Allow me to reveal all the answers to your questions."

He raised his hands in a wide arc and made a dramatic pose.

"We are known as 'Pokemon'. And we have come to Tevyat from another world."

Shocks and gasps were heard throughout the harbor. Loki relished in the surprise of the common people and made a bright smile.

"Our world is inhabited by pokemon and humans. The two different species live together in harmony. At times, they play together and at other times, they work together. But the best way they build a bond that surpasses the inherent barrier of race, is by having a Pokemon Battle."

"A Pokemon Battle is basically similar to a duel where humans command their pokemon friends to battle. They cooperate and coordinate with each other and create a deep bond through battle."

"Now, please let me introduce you to the 6 young people who are going to have a pokemon battle alongside their pokemon friends."

Loki gestured towards Xiangling and her friends this time. The residents of the Studio immediately created a distance from their group, as if they were in tacit understanding.

This left the 6 teenagers and 2 pandas as the center of attention.

"Boss. Is there a need for such extravagance?"

Chongyun immediately tried to hide his body behind Xingqiu. He was feeling shy from the gaze of hundreds of people in the harbor. The same could be said for the Xiangling and Xingqui.

As for Hutao, Xinyan and Yunjin. They were already used to the gaze of other people. But it didn't change the fact that they were also feeling a little shy.

Ignoring their dissatisfaction, Loki addressed Frost with a soft voice. "Frost my dear, if you will."

With his words as the signal, Frost floated towards the sea. She waved her hand and a cold wind blew through the harbor.

In the amazed gaze from hundreds of audiences, including the 6 teens, the surface of the sea rapidly froze until a platform (nearly 20×30 meter square in area) was formed. There were also 3 smaller platforms beside the central one.

Soon after, Magica, Voir and Rene moved onto the central platform and spread their powers. The chilling cold from the icy platform quickly disappeared and a smooth and sturdy battlefield was created in the end.

The battlefield almost looked like they were made of stone. They appeared rough and hard, even if they were obviously made of ice.

As the preparations was completed, Loki addressed the crowd for the last time.

"For those curious, I invite you to watch the first Pokemon Battle of Tevyat. For the others, I apologize for all the disturbances I have caused. I hope you don't mind us and return to your duties."

Saying that, he finally floated down and landed on the ground. His large group immediately gathered around him and looked at the battlefield on the sea curiously.

"What should we do now?"

Xingqiu asked Loki in a faux-calm voice. He was still very troubled by the gaze from the surrounding people.

"We wait."

Loki answered as he looked at the people slowly gathering around them.

A few minutes passed and the people gathered around them already numbered in the hundreds. Loki also found a couple of interesting individuals within the crowd.

'There is Zhongli and Yelan. Looks like the commotion attracted 2 bigshots.'

Loki first greeted Zhongli with a nod of his head. He also greeted him back with a nod.

He then made eye contact with Yelan and secretly winked at her. He made sure that she knew that he knew that she was observing him. He didn't look at her anymore.

"This should be enough."

Loki coughed into his fists twice before jumping onto the platform. He walked to the center of the battefield and looked at the crowd.

"To all those gathered here, thank you for becoming a witness to the first Pokemon Battle of Tevyat."

He spoke with a dignified voice that only spread to the people gathered around the frozen battlefield.

"I will be the host of this pokemon battle. Before we begin, please welcome the 6 pokemon trainers with a round of applause."

The crowd began to clap as they turned at the 6 shy teenagers, who didn't know what to do.

[Hurry. Jump onto the platform.] Voir suddenly whispered in their mind.

They quickly reacted to her voice by jumping onto the platform. They then walked towards Loki, trying their best to maintain a calm expression.

Loki nodded his head at them and announced to the audience.

"Now then, I announce the official start of this Pokemon Battle. The first 2 contestants are Xiangling, from Wanmin Restaurant, and Xinyan, an uprising singer of Liyue."

Hearing his words, Xiangling and Xinyan quitely turned to each other. The other 4 teens were guided to another platfrom by Frost.

"Go to the opposing platforms."

Loki spoke to the two teens and they obediently walked to their respective platforms, seperated from the battlefield by a small distance.

He then began to float a few centimeters of the frozen ground and moved towards the edge.

"The two contestants. Please bring out your pokemon." Loki announced.

Xinyan immediately took out the pokeball from her pouch. "Go, Toxel." She shouted as she threw the pokeball into the air. Her pokemon soon emerged on her side of the battlefield.

Not to be outdone, Xiangling also pointed at the battlefield and shouted. "I choose you, Stufful." Her yellow panda immediately leaped from her side and landed onto the battlefield.

The two teen and their pokemon began to stare at each other, each of them filled with anticipation and excitement.

Loki looked at the enthusiastic quartet and smiled. He moved away from the platform before shouting in a loud voice.

"Begin!!"

His voice signalled the beginning of the pokemon battle. Not to be outdone by their opponent, Both Xiangling and Xinyan commanded their pokemon at the same time.

"Stufful, use Leer." Red light flashed in his eyes as he glared at Toxel .

"Toxel, use Acid." Toxel was affected by the Leer as he spat a purple colored acid from his mouth. He got lucky as the acid landed straight on Stufful's eyes.

"Oh no, Stufful. Are you okay?" Xiangling cried out in anxiety and Stufful began to frantically wipe his eyes. But Xinyan didn't give her or Stufful the time to recover.

"Now. Use Nuzzle." Toxel rubbed his cheeks repeatedly and steady arcs of electricity began to generate around his cheeks. He then ran towards Stufful, ready to deal the final blow.

At this moment, Stufful had already wiped the poison from his eyes. "Dodge quickly." Xiangling shouted as he tried to jump away from Toxel but he was still hit on the side. He was thrown to a distance by the strong blow.

"Stufful!" Xiangling called out. Stufful rolled on the ground for a while and stopped. When he tried to stand up, the electricity zapped at his body. He appeared to be paralyzed.

Xiangling looked at him worriedly as he stood up with wobbly legs, his movements hindered by the arcs of electricity.

On the other side of the battlefield, Xinyan looked at the paralyzed Stufful and turned towards Loki. Xiangling also turned to him shortly after. Their eyes conveyed the same question. 'Should we stop this battle?'

Loki looked at both of them and shook his head. He taught them the essence of pokemon battle but they still didn't seem to understand it properly.

"The battle continues until one of the pokemon is unable to battle. Look at Stufful. He still wants to fight." He spoke.

Hearing his words, Xiangling looked at her pokemon and saw his determined eyes looking back at her. "Auuuu." He called out to her and she finally understood that Stufful still wanted to fight.

Xinyan also understood this. The 2 teens looked at each other briefly before looking at their pokemon.

"Stufful, use Rollout." Xiangling commanded. She knew that Stufful cannot move properly in his paralyzed state so she made a compromise.

Receiving his command, Stufful also knew her intention. He immediately curled into a ball and rolled towards Toxel at a moderate speed. He was occasionally hindered by the arcs of electricity in his body.

"Use Metal Sound and dodge." Toxel made a harsh screeching noise and further disoriented Stufful. He was then able to easily move out of the way. "Now, use Nuzzle." Xinyan quickly made her next command.

"Stufful, use payback." Xiangling shouted at the moment Stufful passed Toxel. Stufful immediately stopped rolling at her command and lunged at Toxel with a dark aura surrounding him.

Toxel, who was generating electricity, had no time to dodge and the violent impact from Stufful sent him flying. He finally crashed into the barrier and fell to the ground.

"Toxel!" Xinyan shouted in anxiety. Toxel stood up a second later and glared at Stufful with hate and pain. "Kauu." He cried out.

"Are you alright?" Toxel nodded his head at her question. But no matter how Xinyan looked, Toxel was not okay. But she didn't ask anymore as she saw the fire blaze in his eyes.

Watching the sudden shift of the battle, Loki nodded in approval. This was what he wanted to see. A Pokemon Battle is everchanging. Even a weak and injured pokemon is able to bite back and snatch the victory.

Now, this Pokemon Battle has reached the climax. Both Stufful and Toxel were injured and it would not be strange for either to win.

Xinyan made sure that Toxel was okay before making a command. "Toxel, Nuzzle." Toxel immediately began to rub his cheeks and generate electricity.

"Use Rollout." Xiangling commanded and Stufful began to roll towards Toxel again.

When Stufful was still a significant distance away, Toxel was already prepared with his move. He then ran towards Stufful with the intention to pay back.

"Force Palm." Xiangling spoke softly. And Stufful got her message as he continued to roll forward.

The 2 pokemon met each other at the center of the battlefield. Toxel directly slammed into Stufful while Stufful raised his paw and touched his body at the crucial moment.

The strike from Toxel immediately sent Stufful rolling backwards. But at the same time, a white glow from his paw blasted Toxel in the opposite direction.

Both pokemon came to a still a second later. Toxel stood up resolutely. But his legs were shaking, showing that he was on his last straw. On the other side, Stufful also stood up with the last bits of his strength.

They glared at each other with defiance and determination.

Toxel was the first to give out. He could longer hold on and crashed onto the ground, falling unconscious.

"Toxel!" Xinyan shouted. But Toxel didn't respond to her.

"Toxel is no longer able to battle. The winner of the first round is Stufful and Xiangling."

Loki loudly announced from the side, marking the end of the pokemon battle.
